LONDON (Reuters) - The Saatchi Gallery, a leading British showcase of contemporary art, has always stirred up controversy -- but now it risks prosecution for exhibiting photographs of naked children taken by an American photographer.
Police said Monday they had sent a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determines whether cases are prosecuted, after receiving three separate complaints about the ''I am a Camera'' exhibition at the West London gallery.
The images at the center of the scandal are U.S. photographer Tierney Gearon's snapshots of her two young children -- Emily and Michael.
One picture shows the pair, naked apart from masks, standing on a sun-kissed beach. Another captures Michael urinating into the snow.
``My children are my entire life... and these are beautiful, innocent pictures. You have to understand the context... which is that I was documenting my family for two years,'' Gearon told the Observer newspaper.
``When people ask if I am sexually exploiting my children I honestly don't know what to say. It simply isn't true,'' she said.
There are no plans to remove the pictures from the gallery, owned by Charles Saatchi, who first made his name as one half of the advertising phenomenon Saatchi and Saatchi.
Snaatchi and Snaatchi.

Many families have these types of photos of their young children. I don't know of any parent that would display them to the public. That is very strange and if Gearon thinks it is not she is daft.
The photos are not very good in form or context. They are indeed basically snapshots. Why she would show them is weird weird weird.
They should have used the infamous "fuzzy blobs". LOL
Here is a earlier thread with an example of the pictures spoken of. I don't think the picture itself is wrong, but public display of such a picture is strange.
