Quotes collected from various entertainment and news sources:
Gary Oldman, a British citizen and a real-life conservative, is fuming about editing cuts made to The Contender, which he alleges were made due to the studio's Democratic leanings. In the new issue of Premiere magazine, Oldman and his manager, Douglas Urbanski, accuse DreamWorks honchos Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg — all Democrats — of turning the political drama upside down to make it mesh with their pro-Al Gore agendas.
"If your names are Spielberg, Katzenberg, and Geffen," Urbanski declares, "you can't have a film with a Republican character … who is at all sympathetic…”
Wheatus lead singer Brendan B. Brown -- "'Hump'em n' Dump'em' I wrote when the Senate was considering impeaching the President," Brendan says. "The cheapness aspect to it--this big fat dumb cheesy sex going on in the White House."
Arnold Schwarzeneggar --bonded with the party (GOP) while watching the Nixon-Humphrey presidential debates in 1968. A friend translated for him. "I hear Humphrey talking about big government and protectionism," Arnold says. Too authoritarian. Too stifling. Too much like Parents' Day in Graz.”
Clint Eastwood -- "At Waco, was there really an urgency to get those people out of the compound at that particular time? Was the press going to make it look heroic for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms? At Ruby Ridge, there was one guy in a cabin at the top of the mountain. Was it necessary for federal agents to go up there and shoot a 14-year-old in the back and shoot a woman with a child in her arms? What kind of mentality does that?”
James Woods -- Pardongate has brought the actor's long-simmering hatred for Clinton to a full boil. "He is just utter, utter, scum," the actor says of our former commander-in-chief. Woods believes that, in granting clemency to fugitive financier Marc Rich and others with connections, the Clintons "acted absolutely true to form. ... They are the most sociopathic, destructive people who have ever set foot in the White House. We will look back on these eight years as the most corrupt and debilitating abuse of power in the history of the presidency."
Ben Stein— “And I want Mrs. Bush to be my mother. I want them both to be my parents right now. Small wonder GW is so self-confident with his mom and dad.”
Tracy Scoggins (Babylon 5, Dallas)—At an appearance with GW in Orange County: (paraphrase) “I mentioned at a Hollywood party that I was a Republican; people looked as if they’d found a bug in their salad.”
Orsen Bean (“Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman”)—Showed up with his grandson at GW’s Burbank appearance.
Drew Carey-- Fuming over a "stupid" California law that bans smoking in bars, comedian Drew Carey took action -- and a cigarette -- into his own hands. In an act of in-your-face civil disobedience, he lit up. In a bar. And he's not a smoker. Not usually, that is. "I don't think there should be a total ban," Carey said Tuesday through a cloud of smoke inside Barney's Beanery, a bar, restaurant and pool hall in West Hollywood. "It should be up to each bar owner and patron to decide if they want to smoke or not."
Charlton Heston-- "...Mr. Clinton, sir, America didn't trust you with our health-care system. America didn't trust you with gays in the military. America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust you with our guns. "
You forget Marilyn Manson, who said he'd rather die a very painful death than vote for a Democrat.
I'd remove James Woods. He's a big-time liberal. He just disapproved of Clinton. For the most part he thinks Dems and Socialism (same thing) are the best future for America. In regards to the example cited above, a broken clock is right twice a day.
Didn't Chuck Norris support GWB? I thought I read that someplace.
I know that some of these people aren't conservatives; I was just giving props to rational thought. By the way, this year is the 150th anniversary of the birth of my favorite dentist. Do you know who he is?
Chuck has always been a Republican. Most of your action-type stars have been pretty conservative, altho' not always Republicans. John Wayne, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner...
Doc Holliday?
Mr. Clinton, sir, America didn't trust you with our health-care system. America didn't trust you with gays in the military. America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust you with our guns.
No particular comment, just wanted to read that again...
Ben Stein was in some great movies as well, along with Heston, Eastwood, etc.
Of course, I really don't care about the political leanings of actors, or for the actors at all. I just go to see the movie, not who's in it.
Snow Bunny, look! Any thoughts?
Doc Holliday
Probably wouldn't have even become a dentist, if he hadn't lost the family plantation in Valdosta.
Add Dixie Carter to this list. Saw her on Special Report during the convention. She is a true conservative.
What about Ted Nugent?
Costner's a huge lib, and a bad actor.
Actually, Kevin Costner is a registered Republican and gave money to Phil Gramm in '96. He may be not-as-conservative, but I don't consider him a huge liberal.
For generally playing no nonsense, real man, non PC mob guys:
Ray Liotta
Joe Pesci
James Caan
For playing entertaining people, every time:
John Cusack
Joan Cusack
Dead guys who always entertained me:
Raul Julia (whats not to love about his Gomez Addams)
John Candy (got better as he got older)
Now, for the FReeper Chix (TM), I want you to understand the OPH rules of availablity. Any man prettier than me is gay and therefore unattainable. Therefore, the only actors of the past 50 years available to you are Ned Beatty and Marlon Brando. From Survivor II, the only one you get is Roger (Colby, of course, being a flaming fudgepacker - that's for you, Rintense).
Of course, any starlet or other woman is availabble to me according to my rules. For instance, from Survivor II, I have designated Elisabeth as my next wife - but I haven't told my current wife yet (and dammit, won't Elisabeth be surprised to meet me). Of course, I rejected the much hated Gore voter Jerri long ago (but she'd probably be good for an inebriated tumble)...
John Cusack is as big a liberal as they come. Saw him at a Dem rally in Chicago (His Hometown) on CNN standing arm in arm with Gore and Jesse. Add Norm Macdonald to the list of approved celebrities. Anyone that saw him on The View or his campaigning with Bush knows he's a big conservative. Also picked the best way to spell his last name...lower case d!
Tracy Scoggins? i didn't know. She isn't hard on the eyes either!
You are right. Norm should be on my list. I will try to find his quote.
Charlie Daniels. From Charlie's Soapbox on hiw website...
The Democratic response was delivered by Senator Bonnier and Congressman Gephart and the result was much the same as it had been in ‘92 except that this time it was the Democrats who looked so old and out of touch. With them it was politics as usual, you people don’t know how to spend your money, send it to us and let us waste it on our pork barrel projects. Please don’t take the power out of our hands, we know what’s best for you, just trust us. These gentlemen came across as almost begging and looked just like what they are. Part of the old boy network which has dominated national politics for the last eight years. They are out of date, out of touch and hopefully out of time.

I love discussing conservative celebs. :) There are more lovely ladies than you might think in the list...Shannen Doherty, Emma Caulfield, Bo Derek, Susan Lucci, Heather Locklear...
No clue who the dentist of 150 years ago is.
Damn - disappointing. His characters are generally pretty fun.
What about Ted Nugent?
I like Ted. very conservative, very outspoken, quite bright.
good one!
I saw Charlie Daniels as a guest on (forgive me!) Politically Incorrect and he was a powerhouse!
Add Babylon 5's "Security Chief Michael Garibaldi", Jerry Doyle, to the list. He ran for Congress as a Republican this past election. Former stockbroker. Supporter of the Boy Scouts and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Also strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Great guy.
I didn't know Ted Nugent was a dentist.
Heather Locklear! Hot damn, now I KNOW I'm on the side of the angels.
SabraAmerican, Bonaparte, and BilltheDrill got it. He got his degree from Pennsylvania College and practiced until his tuberculosis made it difficult to find patients.
That one makes me happy, too. ;-) Heather will proudly state that she voted for Reagan twice!
I've tried to watch the show (Babylaon 5), but I get the impression its one of those where you have to know what was going on for the last few years, like "Farscape", "NYPD Blue", "ER", etc.
I really don't care about the political leanings of actors, or for the actors at all. I just go to see the movie, not who's in it.
Yeah, sure ... you're just trying to justify in your mind going to see the yet to be released movie "Pearl Harbor"with Alex Baldwin. ;)
Ors[o]n Bean (“Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman”)—Showed up with his grandson at GW’s Burbank appearance.
That seems pretty weird. Orson Bean was blacklisted. I thought his politics were way, way left.
Did he move right, or has the right moved left enough to suit him?
Heather Locklear! Hot damn, now I KNOW I'm on the side of the angels.

I spoke to him at the Burbank rally. He was very enthusiastic about Bush.
Really?? He hosted a fundraiser last year for Tommie Daschle in Deadwood last year. He must be playing both sides of the fence.
Naughty, naughty... :-)
Don't forget Bo!
"You know. I'm definitely a pro-Second Amendent guy. I mean, I have been involved in shooting sports since I was eight years old. William Holden was the first man who ever took me out in the woods with a gun." said "NYPD Blue" star Rick Schroder to Bill O'Rilley during an interview for Fox News' "The O'Rilley Factor." "[S]o from a very young age, I had an appreciation for the shooting sports. And I became a life member of the [NRA] ... when I was about 16. ...And I wrote my own check for $1000 and sent it to them," Schroder said.
In answer to questions about Hollywood's anti-Second Amendment bias hurting his career, Schroder said, "I guess I have to speak my conscience is sort of where I've come out on this issue. You know, I have to stand up for what I believe and let the chips fall where they may."
Quoted in the American Rifleman, November/December 2000 issue
No Doubt!...people have to read God, Guns, And Rock N Roll.
Quite possibly. Lots of Hollyood-types will do so to cover themselves. Granted, I Don't know if Costner supported W. But as of a few years ago, he was in fact a registered Republican.
I Read it! I Read it! It rocks as much as Ted! ;-)
I've tried to watch the show (Babylaon 5), but I get the impression its one of those where you have to know what was going on for the last few years, like "Farscape", "NYPD Blue", "ER", etc.
Sci-Fi Channel is showing it now (in widescreen letterbox format, no less!) at 7 pm EST. Right now it's about halfway through the 1st season, so you should be able to catch up in no time flat! And if you need some help there's always the Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 to help out.
Babylon 5 was the greatest tv show ever made, IMHO. Every Saturday night that a new ep aired while we were in college some friends used to come over to our apartment for B5, pizza and discussion afterward... heck B5 was a good part of my college education :-)
I found a short, interesting interview with Bean here. In the next to the last answer he gives an explanation for his blacklisting. In the last answer he says a couple of things about Buchanan, McCain & Bush.
I've always like Charlie Daniels.....
I've always liked Charlie Daniels.....
Babylon 5 was the greatest tv show ever made
If not, very close!
I remember an episode of Silver Spoons in which Ricky Schroder goes hunting and kills a deer...
Yea, yea, but if someone could tell me that Cameron Diaz is a staunch conservative, I'd die with a smile on my face.
Any man prettier than me is gay and therefore unattainable.
Damn. I must be gay, then, and therefore unattainable -- because I am FAR, FAR better looking than you. ;^)
The Nuge is about the most conservative you can get in the Rock and Roll business. I have heard that Sammy Hagar and James Hetfield (of Metallica) may be also, but I'm not sure.
I bow down before you all. :-)
Yeah, a very anti hunting episode. That was the last episode I watched of that show. It surprised me later on to learn that Rick is so pro gun.
I love discussing conservative celebs. :) There are more lovely ladies than you might think in the list...Shannen Doherty, Emma Caulfield, Bo Derek, Susan Lucci, Heather Locklear...
Don't forget Sarah Michelle Gellar. :)
Funny how Heather Locklear voted for Reagan, but yet she would marry Tommy Lee. Don't get me wrong, I love Motley Crue, but that's not my idea of the conservative woman's ideal husband...LOL
When does that come out on DVD??
SMG?? That would justify several fantasies of mine, but I've never heard her say anything that would make me think she's a conservative.
Gary Oldman, a British citizen and a real-life conservative, is fuming about editing cuts made to The Contender, which he alleges were made due to the studio's Democratic leanings.
Gary Oldman is one of my favorite celebs, so the other night I rented the video of 'The Contender', I was so outraged with that movie...I will NEVER rent another movie with most of the cast especially Jeff Bridges, again. They literally reversed the roles the demonRATS the good, honest, caring folks of the US...the republicans are the dishonest, evil, corrupt folks of the US. I can say if hollyweirdo keeps this type of trash up...their industry will be in such a world of hurt revenue wise....they will be begging for the citizens to come back...and I do see this happening in the next few years.
From "the View": Norm's a Canadian, but boy does he have strong opinions on American politics. Of the current election fracas, Norm says "I hope the democrats don't steal the election from the winner." Have no doubt, Norm "loves George Bush. He's a good man, decent. He's not a liar, crook or murderer or anything like that."
A glaring omission.
Darn, you caught me! :^)
Gerald McRaney
From Michael Medved: "All of the performers overact shamelessly, but at least Gary Oldman and Jeff Bridges do so enjoyably. The movie’s positive review from doctrinaire liberal critics (check out Roger Ebert’s embarrassing rave) suggest once again that such people care vastly more about political correctness than cinematic competence.
By the way, this year is the 150th anniversary of the birth of my favorite dentist. Do you know who he is?
Pierre Fouchard?
Please add Jane Russell to the list.
A couple of years ago she posted a nice letter to FreeRepublic. I don't know if she's a freeper but
she definitely has real class.
By the way, Mel Gibson should be at the top of your list.
I am going to dredge up and bump, now, a thread
called 'The Man Who Had No Face'.
It's about Mel Gibson and I highly recommend it.
Congratulations on a terrific thread concept!
Thanks, Travis. I see that I have missed a few people. I don't know if you hear Larry Elder, but he's been talking a lot lately about the derth of conservatives in Hollywood. Obviously, it's true, but the ones who are out there seem to be exceptionally bold in their opinions.
Chuck Norris, Bo Derek, Wayne Newton, Vince Gill and Amy Grant. Hank Williams, Jr. They went around the country to campaign with Dubya. I saw most of them. It was memorable and they kicked butt, especially disparaging the Clintons and Al Gore. A real laff a thon for republicans.
James Woods hated and still does hates the Clinton's. Unfortunately he did not keep on being smart and James Woods voted for Gore. Woods was also at the Dem Convention talking Gore up like crazy.
Yes, you are right about Chuck Norris. He is a Republican BIG time !
HI there Teacup ! Thanks for the heads up . You and I keep missing each other on here. I have been in and out for the last couple of days. It is so great to see you. I miss you when I do not see you on at the same time. giggle
I love your posts and learn so much from them.
I LOVE Charlie Daniels. One of the best songs from the Viet Nam war is his song called Saigon.
This actor I am going to name is from an era gone by. The actor is Robert Montgomery.
He was such a strong conservative that he and his daughter, (Elizabeth Montgomery) did not speak to each other for years.
He has passed away but this thread reminded me about the really strong conservatives that have existed in Hollywood showbiz.
And don't forget SASsies...making Hamburger Helper out of the Million Moos since 1999, and proud of it!
I heard Dennis Hopper is a Pub...and also Tony Kaye, the keyboardist from Yes.
Don't forget Sarah Michelle Gellar. :)
Keep your stinking paws off her, you damned dirty ape. She's mine.
Yup, I'd fawn all over her and do whatever she wanted. Of course, she'd ask
Who are you and how did you get into my house?
HA! An admission.
Did anyone mention Robert Conrad? He was working as a volunteer for one of the candidates at a Republican function I attended last summer.
Dennis Hopper a Repub!? Life is getting just too wierd. (Although Sara Michelle Geller makes sense... perfect affiliation for a vampire slayer).
Mel Gibson's father moved his family to Australia to avoid his sons coming of age and being drafted into the Vietnam War.
Great list. Here's Daisy Fuentes.
Here's Duane Eddy, Objectivist. You can read a letter from Ayn Rand to Duane Eddy, thanking him for the gift of one of his records, in The Letters of Ayn Rand.
Marilyn Manson!!!? Sorry, sir, but just being a DemomcRAT hater isn't a quality that could put that pervert in my "approved" column.
Survivor? Do you actually watch such swill?
Mel Gibson's father moved his family to Australia to avoid his sons coming of age and being drafted into the Vietnam War
I often wonder if I would have done the same thing.
Its not that bad this go around. The jerks are getting voted off (I guarantee you, after the first series debacle with the naked gay guy, his scheming personality type will never win again), so the more competent and leadership enabled team players are rising to the forefront. Plus the girls aren't hard to look at.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being perfect anti-statism, I give it an 8.
