We don't need to stand by helplessly, while the 21 Men and 3 Women of our Armed Service are kept in China! In fact, we can do something very substantial!!
Starting TODAY!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA!!!
While we pray that none of them are being harmed in any way,... it is well known that in past situations our soldiers WERE indeed tortured. Certain things can be said and some not during a situation like this. We don't feel our Government needs to share "every single detail" and indeed it could cause more harm to our soldiers and people gathering information in situations like this.
Regardless, the sooner they come home, the better!!!!
So we implore you to start today by sending a very strong message to the Chinese Government. Hit them were it hurts.. the pocketbook!!! We ask that you do this until our Sevice members "safe and timely" return!!
PLEASE... pass this on to everyone in your address book. Paste it on every message board!! For the "sake" and safety of our brave men and women.
Mary Ann and Art
I'll be handing out flyers at Walmart and Kmart to fellow
Americans encouraging them to boycott Everything Made
in China.
Link to Boycott Flyer
Excellent idea! Thank you.
Bump!
I'm with you on this and will forward this to all that I know.
bttt
Good luck!! Do you really think there are enough true american patriots left to make a difference? Just a small handful of us LOYAL Americans left.

Boycott Chinese restaurants too
BTTT
I will also be posting these on the perimeter of Best Buy, Circuit City,
Walmart and Kmart. I'll be going down to the Orange County
Register Newspaper to nail their perimeter to try to get some
publicity.
Bill O'reilly strongly suggested a boycott yesterday on his TV show.
Why ??? Chinese Restaurants are generally run by honest, hard working Americans, or harder-working Immigrants. I can recall a buddy of mine from High School: his parents ran one (Immigrants), he was born here, and managed a 4.0 average in the college prep track while working 30 hours a week in his parent's restaurant. We need a lot more Americans like him. . .
I can't see how we can boycott products made in China. I did a check a year or so ago, of the thousands of various items we purchased as a family of four, things from cloths, toys, food, and even audio/stero/tv parts, almost every single item had some part or was in-whole made in China.
The way to hurt China, is to stop the imports, until all (and there is billions) of the Chicom products have run dry.
Pencil erasers, paper products, CD's for computers, music, and games. The list is too big, we would look like a dog chasing its own tail if we tried not to buy any products from China.
50% of all of Walmart's goods are made in China, 80% of all shoes are made in China (from a talking head expert on one of the morning shows this morning).
Blockade, tariffs are the answer! But if you can, and/or wanna try a boycott, good, I will also. It is however a tough hill to climb....
I would have more effect to boycott the products of the U. S. companies that do business in the PRC and pay slave wages instead of decent wages at home, then use the profits from their ill gotten gains to bribe traitorous politicians into giving the PRC most favored trade status
Absolutely!
My boss and several co-employees just left for lunch. They are going to their favorite Chinese restaurant. They asked my what I wanted them to bring back for me. I said thanks, but I am boycotting China.
They looked at me like I was nuts. Oh well. LOL
LOL! What does a Boycott of Made in China products
have to do with Chinese Food. The food is most likely
Grown in the USA.
Yes, we saw that with O'Reilly, we were happy to see him say it. We had started to ask our friends to boycott the day before by e-mails, and we agree with Mr. O'Reilly one hundred percent!! He says to continue even a month afterwards. Though I'm not sure if that would be necessary, I'm certainly open to suggestions :o) and will watch the debate regarding it. Thanks HOYA!
Wow,.. way to go!!!!! THANKS!!
Thanks!!
You know, I hope with all my heart that there are enough good patriotic people left. I know many are misguided, but I have to hope that in this situation, they will put our service men and women above even their political ideals.
Thanks! Mary Ann
I just returned a unopened can opener to WM. The lady asked if anything was wrong with it and I said "yes, it was made in China". She just rolled her eyes and look a little ticked off. I asked if anyone else was returning stuff for the same reason and she said probably. I like boycotting China .....IT SAVES MONEY. If I can not find a China free item in a store I simply put it on my yard sale wish list.
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
And send Chicom-national-students home.
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
Well friend, I would have to disagree with this one. They are Americans. Some Chinese people have and do serve in our Military. I believe one of our female soldiers is Chinese.
But thanks for the bump!! Mary Ann
BTTT.
((((((Epimentel))))))) You are one awesome person!!!! I wish there were thousands more like you!!
Thankyou and God bless!!!
I look at it this way,.. I only really NEED food. All other things CAN BE PUT OFF UNTIL OUR SOLDIERS ARE HOME.
It is amazing how many things we buy that are "made in China". If we tried, we COULD get the word out to Boycott. I know we could make a difference. I believe in it.
Thanks friend. Mary Ann
I have tried to avoid buying made in China goods for some time. Unfortunately, because of the trade policies advocated by both the Republican and Democratic Establishments, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find products not made in China.
If we actually wanted to send a strong message to China, we'd revoke their permanent MFN status and slap a 40% on their goods. However, this will never happen, and the Chinese know it. I suspect that the Chinese concluded, from the way both parties scrambled to give them permanent MFN, that we are weak and easily bribed. Their apparent indifference to our reaction during this crisis has shown that they still feel this way.
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
Won't you feel like boycotting them again in half an hour?
Interesting!!! If she looked ticked off, then she was an idiot!!! :o)
Good idea on the yard sales. We have a lot of those here in California!!!
Thanks for the input and the bump!!! Mary Ann
I agree with most of your comments!! But we don't "have" to buy the goods!! I can find enough "made in America" products, things made in Italy etc, to NOT buy stuff from China.
Thanks Thorin for your imput. We also have been looking at labels, and trying to buy "made in America" items.
Standing outside a store, and passing out flyers even for a half an hour, if done in every city would certainly make a dent and send a message, don't ya think?
Mary Ann
Your words are sad but true. And think about this, if so much American Money is going to China, who really benefits from it?? Certainly not the Chinese common people... food for thought for sure..
Many Chinese are against their own government. There is much corruption in China today. Local officials are known to be very corrupt.
We do not want to send a message to the average Chinese that we are against them, but against their government.
On the contrary, I will be trying to win over Chinese in this country, and try to get them to realize the corruption and the "Mad Mao Disease" that still existing in the top levels of the Chinese Military and Civilian government. If the folks of Hong Kong start getting hurt in the pocket books, they will be upset at the government. They are the most productive of all of China.
As China tries to go from communism to capitalism, it is a totalitarian government at top. And local officials, bend with the wind to kept position. They blow the direction of communism if necessary or to the wind of capitalism.
What needs to be said is that China gives "years of hard labor" to anyone caught with a Chinese bible. Distributing Bibles in China is a very serious offense.
Convert the Chinese in America. We need their help. They may have friends in China that they can send information to get the truth out.
Gov. Bob Taft on Thursday canceled an appearance with a Hong Kong trade group, saying that it would be inappropriate for him to appear as long as China detains the crew of a U.S. plane. "Until the return of the 24 American service men and women - including Aviation Machinist 2nd Class Wendy Westbrook from Rock Creek, Ohio - who are being detained in China, it is inappropriate for me as governor to participate in an event promoting trade with China," Taft said in a statement released Thursday.
Here we go! Boycott China!
We decided to do this the other night. We're calling it our 'Screw the PRC' campaign!

I agree strongly with boycotting "Made in China". I would go one step further, and try to get Congress to consider reversing the "Most Favored Nation" status for trade with China, even have our Customs folks hold up shipments from China.
But at the same time, we must try to win over the Chinese here in the United States. In the movie "Karate Kid", the story of the Japanese master is based on fact. Loyal Americans of Japanese decent were put in prisons. On the other hand, at the same time, Americans of German descent were not imprisoned. My own grandfather would have been classified as that and perhaps other relatives who immigrated from Germany in the 1880's.
In the "Karate Kid", it is quite true that the Japanese Americans were very courageous and actually did win many military medals for fighting in Italy (mostly, if I recall).
But at the same time, many of their relatives were in "detention camps". Sad but true.

GOD BLESS GOVERNOR TAFT!!! I hope all the other people in Congress who had visits planned to China in the next recess will cancel their plans until our soldiers are released!!!
Way to go!!!! :o) Mary Ann
Maybe some of us could get that flyer printed in our local newspapers?
Bump!

Good ideas.. I wonder where we can send e-mails or letters, faxes and/or phone, to ask that Customs stop all incoming shipments?? I also like stopping MFN, especially if this continues for any time. That would take longer than all of us boycotting, but it sure should be considered. It has really hurt American business!!!
Thanks, Mary Ann
But if you can, and/or wanna try a boycott, good, I will also. It is however a tough hill to climb....
You are on the internet, shop around. It actually isnt that hard to avoid chinese products. Even if you insist on cheap imports there are lots of choices besides chinese.
Good idea as far as getting it in newspapers!! I will try to see how much it would cost me here!!!
I also like the idea of standing in front of stores and just handing everyone one!!! Don't even ask them if they want it.. just hand it to them!!! I'm printing some now!!
I have been doing this from day one. The problem is that no matter what you buy, especially computer and electronic products, the chances of "made in Communist China" parts are inside. Take the cover off of your computer and check it out. But yes - Boycott as much as you can - and prepare to go naked and barefoot!
Added footnote: major increase in training flights here on Whidbey in the last few days. Time to kick some commie butt?!!!
We decided to do this the other night. We're calling it our 'Screw the PRC' campaign!
:o) Good on you!!!! Thanks, Mary Ann
Revoke the Most Favored Nation trade status and contract Congress about this.
We should try to get the trust of Chinese where in the United States, but it is inappropriate to discuss "sensitive" issues with them to keep this trust (military issues, technology issues that might benefit the government of China).
You have to have savvy in this case. We need to win the hearts of the Chinese people here in America and in China, but at the same time take a hard line with trade with China at this time "because of the reckless actions of the Chinese government".
In other words, don't shoot the messenger with bad news, but shoot the one who "caused the bad news".
About 2 or 3 thousand years ago, being a messenger for a king was a dangerous business. Being a bearer of bad news might mean you get the "axe". So keep that in mind with ordinary honest Chinese.
However, be aware that the Chinese do have agents in this country. Normally, agents of China could be found at Universities, and the FBI would know about them if they are "properly registered agents" of the Chinese government.
Translated: professors who travel back and forth to China periodically MIGHT be such agents. Universities are a place for foreign agents, and people need to be aware that this is true, in time of "national peril". But not every foreigner is an agent. It is just that one should exercise prudence when dealing with certain personnel.
As a final note, if we start mistreating Chinese here in the United States, that will only fuel the fires of hatred -- we really don't want that.
"Made in China" -- sometimes by literally slave labor, is the real enemy. People in "hard labor camps" for political crimes sometimes are "punished" by being made to build hand made Woks for exports and other such items.
Please remember that is another reason why "Made in China" is bad -- some of the slave labor conditions over there.
On the other hand, we would want China to become more of a democracy and not revert to the times of Mao -- "Mad Mao disease" as I call it, as a pun on "Mad Cow disease".
Boycott as much as you can - and prepare to go naked and barefoot!
My hubby would like that one!!! :o)

I totally agree!! Mary Ann

The Congress, the President, the media, and you could even call local/state government as well. The more attention, the better.
Good luck!! Do you really think there are enough true american patriots left to make a difference? Just a small handful of us LOYAL Americans left.
I really wished people like you would leave their negativeness someplace else. I for once am certain there are enough American Patriots left to make a difference. I for one have refused to buy anything that is made in China for several years, and I will continue do do so.
I posted the following in another thread:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, if every FReeper on FR boycotted Chinese products, it would make NO difference."
True.
But, there is a way.
Use the chinese strategy -- "asymmetrical warfare" -- against them.
Boycotts accomplish nothing, unless they've got the backing of the media, TPTB, etc. In other words, unless it's for an officially sanctioned "cause", a boycott will amount to a flyspeck of nothingness.
The above assumes, however, that we're talking about a "traditional" boycott.
Enter the "asymmetrical" boycott.
Instead of passively "not buying" -- with no one knowing that a purchase didn't occur -- we do the opposite. We "anti-buy". We pick a day, we pick a retail chain, we notify the media, and when that day occurs, we take our families, and go shopping. We don't stay home, we don't merely "not buy".
When we get to the stores, we fill our shopping cart to overflowing with "stuff". All -- save for one or two items -- stamped "Made in China".
Come checkout time, we load up the conveyer with our findings, and examine each as we go. "Uh-oh, guess I don't want this item!" -- and set it aside. When the clerk finally rings up the sale, we thank her for bagging the one or two items we purchased, smile, and leave. When asked what's wrong with the scads of items we didn't want, we reply that "I didn't realize these were made in China. I don't buy stuff made in China. Have a nice day!"
And then we leave.
After said retail chain runs the numbers and figures out how much it costs to restock the shelves with millions of "oops'd" items left unsold at the checkout, they will have to do some serious re-thinking of exactly how much "profit" there is in carrying stuff made by our country's enemies.
Each week we add a new retail chain.
And we keep it up.
We stop when we can't find anything to leave at the checkout aisle.
Something like that will take off like wildfire. People resent the "made in china" thing. But people -- even those who know the score -- are by and large subject to peer pressure, and a fear of being seen as stepping out of line.
But let them see one polite, well-dressed, "pillar of the community" type after another smile as they leave the "made in china" crap at the checkout, and they'll get with the program. And quickly too, if I'm any judge of human behavior.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what I posted earlier.
Upon reflection, I'd add that it might be even more effective if some or all of the "purchases" were paid for, and then walked right over to the customer service counter and returned. When asked why they were returned, give the obvious answer.
Added footnote: major increase in training flights here on Whidbey in the last few days. Time to kick some commie butt?!!!
Actually, this is a God-send for the military. After 8 years of Clinton, and now having a "real American" president, the military may start turning things around.
This situation might help some folks who left under Clinton consider coming back to the military. At the same time, I expect to see some shake of the military.
And this will truly be good for the United States and the world for the United States to start repairing the damage done by 8 years Kommunist Komrade Klinton as president.
Try checking out consignment stores. Even in my small town we have them. You can get some VERY VERY NICE clothes and shoes. They maybe made in China but at least the money you pay is not going back to China.

We want our soldiers back home NOW
BOYCOTT NOW, BOYCOTT FOREVER!!!!!
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
We hear you!! And anything that smells of "yellow."
A BUMP FOR OUR BRAVE SOLDIERS!!! MAY GOD KEEP THEM SAFE!!!
Darn, I need a new pair of running shoes. They all seem to be made in China! Nike, Adidas, etc.-- all made in China. Any advice??
New Balance are made in the USA! I recently switched from ASICS (been buying them for 20 years) to New Balance and I'm glad I did.
Thanks for the info!!
I've been boycotting that crap for years.
Just for the reason that, as a rule, if it says 'made in china' it is going to suck.
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
We hear you!! And anything that smells of "yellow."
I'm sorry to say I cannot agree with YOUR sentiments at all. I remind you that one of our Female American Soldiers is an Asian/American.
I'm not a prejudiced person, as my ancestors were treated unfairly. We are considered of "red skin".. but I can assure you that my skin is more of a yellow/olive color than red. Then there is the Irish, and German in me. I have a picture of my Great Grandmother, she was forced to wear a corset, to behave like a "white" woman. She was blind, and you can see the misery in her face in that photo!! She was a beautiful woman, as was my Grandmother and as is my Mother. I imagine your hate goes toward anyone who isn't "Like" you?? So pray tell, what exactly is your race?
As an American Indian, I guess I could wish for anyone of any other racial persuassion to leave the US (after all it WAS our Country first), However, any "thinking/cognitive" person would know that would be a ridiculous request!!!
People who talk hate, do not garner my respect.
I want all our soldiers home, plain and simple. I don't appreciate bigotted hateful remarks in the same thread where they are mentioned.... Mary Ann
I'm buying all my jogging and walking shoes from New Balance... they're great shoes. Thanks for pointing that out.
I think we should always by Made in America!! Many Many years ago.. we always promoted "made in America" products.
I guess it isn't "politically" correct any longer to say that.. but to hell with that sentiment!!! ;o)
A heads-up for FReeper booklovers: A lot of color printing is done in China. So before you buy those big, beautiful coffee table books and such you may want to check for the "Printed in China" notice (often on back cover, inside front and back cover flaps, or on copyright page).
I agree! Besides, virtually everything we buy is made there. I am amazed that our toilet paper production has not been sent over there. Motorola and all the telecom are cutting jobs as we type and sending manufacturing jobs to China. They say it makes good business.
BUMP BUMP BUMP this thing up.
Thanks for the headsup.. I will indeed look for it. I read a lot.. love it.
I think the Chinese have screwed up majorly on this!!! I hope they will feel Americans flexing their muscle, when we boycott them good!!!
They need us more than they realize.. I don't think any other Nation buys their products on the same scale we do..
UGH !!! The skies are overcast so when I decided to BUMP this thread, I turned on my computer lamp --- but lo and behold, what did I see (for the first time), the MADE IN CHINA sticker on the inside area of the lamp ..
NO MORE !!! This family of 4 spends lots of money (way too much), no more MADE IN CHINA for us, thank you !!!
Maybe it's just a little and maybe the chinese will never notice my boycott, but it will make me feel better. Thanks for your post !!
Vets Husband and Wife:
Shopped ONCE at a COSCO until my neighbor told me it stood for Chinese Over Seas Company.
Not one cent for tribute we say.
Wow,.. Thanks Coder2!!
Yeah,.. we DO buy a lot of their stuff. I think its time we all started to buy American anyway,.. not only will it send a message to China,.. but it will help our economy!
Thanks, Appreciated the Bump!! Mary Ann
good on all of you spaid!!! Thanks for the support for our troops!!
Freepers just continue to amaze me,.. and "most" make me very very proud!!! God Bless!! Mary Ann
BUY AMERICAN
Excellent way to bring this country out of the skid it's been on... Told hubby we were doing this and he agreed, plus he is very thankful his new boat was made in the USA or else I may have made him return it !!!. I still may look for the made in china label in his tackle box though !! LOL !!!
Nothing made in COMMUNIST CHINA will be bought by my whole family, and friends. Everyone should make sure not to include our Chinese friends in Taiwan in this boycott. Read the labels on any item you buy carefully.
BUMP.....I plan to ask before every purchase: Where is this made? Then make a point of saying I WILL NOT buy anything made in China very loudly.
Boycotting chinese restaurant is not right, most chinese restaurant are owned by chinese from Taiwan, who are our friends, and enemy of the chicoms.
Any union freepers out there should emplore their union brothers and sisters in the Longshoremen and Teamster unions to refuse to unload or haul Chinese import products.
Let the dodads stack up on the docks!
This will provide a visable show of solidaridy for our P-3 sailors held hostage in China.
Remember China has no unions and uses slave labor to take away American jobs.
I informed my wife that we are currently boycotting. She agreed and understands how I feel as I served. Last night, my wife bought shoes for my 4 yr old son. Unfortunately, they were made in China.
I shoed her a DOD report regarding the threat China poses 15 years from now and I pointed out our son, Stefan, will be 19 and in the forefront of getting drafted.
she took them back!
I still may look for the made in china label in his tackle box though !! LOL !!!
Cruel.. simply cruel woman!!! LOL!!!!! :o)
True,.. made in Taiwan should be bought. It usually says it. Thanks for pointing this out.. you would be surprized how many people are ignorant in understanding Geology. Its kind of fun to pull out a Globe, and ask people to find different places in the world!!!
Last Christmas we bought all of our Grandchildren a globe that would ask them questions, then they had to find the answer on the Globe. They love it, and play with it with their parents. I'm so glad we got them an educational gift. But,.. I couldn't attest to where they were made :o(
I will be more careful in the future!!!
You go girl!!! :o) Thanks!!! Wow,.. I'm so happy to see so many people getting on the "Boycott Bandwagon"...
she took them back!
Way to go!!!! Please thank your wife for us!!! We thank you too!!!
Mary Ann
Darn, I need a new pair of running shoes. They all seem to be made in China! Nike, Adidas, etc.-- all made in China. Any advice??
Can't you fix the old ones with duct tape.?
I realize the problem, and heretofore, when I picked up a screwdriver or a coffee grinder or a cheap watch and saw "Made in China," I ignored that little twinge on conscience, and bought it. I am over that.
If I cannot find a non-China manufacturer, I will do without it.
PERIOD
You will not die if you do not buy.
Trust me. Shopping is not a necessity of life.
Buy American site HERE
Of course buying from anywhere but China is a good thing.
Do Hong Kong restaurants count as Chinese?
I hope not.
Right on!!!!
Sorry Ricky,.. but yeah they are. They became Chinese approx two years ago. My husband is a federal employee who was there the day of the take over. So yes, Hong Kong is now a part of the Chinese Goverment.
But if your even wondering about Hong Kong food,..you must be there right?? So ya gotta eat...
Sorry if I misread your post..but I figured you must be living there.
Boycott Chinese restaurants too
We hear you!! And anything that smells of "yellow."
We do not need that type of racist crap here. It against Mr. Robinson's posting guidelines.
And does only harm to getting the job done.
Are we clear?
I don't think that's what COSCO supermarkets means. But, the China Ocean Shipping Company does use the acronym COSCO. Their shipping schedules to the east and west costs are here:
http://www.cosco-usa.com/schedules/AEX.htm
and here
http://www.cosco-usa.com/schedules/SEA.htm
One can hope the Longshoremen decide not to unload these arrivals
Hmmm, OK leadhat. Maybe it's China Ocean Shipping Company, but COSCO is PRC owned and operated? Is this what you agree? This is my understanding and I will go by this until proven otherwise by the likes of those more in the know than this oldster.
Vets_Husband_and_Wives, I was just looking at that terrific newsman on Fox News, Bill O'Reilley. Just a minute ago he opined to Boycott China, as "as people with free choice, we are able to do" (paraphrasing).
BUMP THE BOYCOTT TO THE TOP
The boycott can work, but you're right it's difficult. Roger Fredinburg and a bunch of us have been doing it for years. Buy used, if you have to. Get something broken repaired. DO WITHOUT! It won't hurt you. Make it yourself. There are ways. And remember this. WALMART was originally financed - Just like BILL - by the RIADY's. When you buy from Walmart you are sactioning the holding of our servicemen....and helping pay for it. Swell, huh?

Thanks for the help in taking this thread out of the deep freeze. I asked earlier this morning for boycotts, the author carried it through. Let's keep it going and show China how strong American beliefs run deep. We will not tolerate them as the world bully, Clinton was a fool, we are not. Bush is not.

If Tables Were Turned, We'd Do the Same By DALE BROWN The midair collision of a U.S. Navy EP-3 spy plane and a Communist Chinese fighter--plus the subsequent emergency landing of the EP-3 at a Chinese military base and the way the U.S.plane's crew has been treated by the Chinese--prompts the obvious question: What would the U.S. do if the situation was reversed? What if a supersecret Chinese plane unexpectedly landed on Okinawa or Guam or Hawaii? Although Western nations treat captured peacetime military men differently than Eastern nations do, you shouldn't be surprised to learn that the U.S. would be doing much the same as the Chinese military is doing: The first concern would be safety. What if a saboteur or a terrorist rigged the plane with a nuclear device? The plane would immediately be searched from top to bottom looking for explosives, chemical or biological weapons or other immediate hazards. Yes, this might look like an aggressive move, but it's a necessary one. The crew would also be taken into custody, separated and secured so no one could trigger a device or try to hurt anyone else. The second concern would be the safety and security of the crew itself. What if someone on the flight crew wanted to defect? Each crew member would be individually searched, photographed, examined, questioned and given the opportunity to ask for asylum. An intelligence-trained doctor would be the perfect person to bring in at this point because military men often trust and confide in physicians and nurses in times of stress or crisis. If no one on the crew appeared to want to defect--this assessment could take a few days--then it would be a good idea to reunite a few of them. Naturally, the room would be bugged. Two or more crewmen would eventually start talking, and the information might be useful. Give them plenty of food and water, and they will talk even more as they relax. Never put the older men in with the younger ones because the older military men will quickly educate the younger troops in how to behave when in enemy custody. Always put men of equal rank together--it is more difficult to rebuild a chain of command than if an obviously higher-ranking officer is present. The plane would get a thorough examination by trained intelligence officers and engineers, even if it meant dismantling it. Yes, the plane is some other nation's property, but it would be in our territory, not by our invitation. I would expect that in the case of the EP-3, the crew had already erased the classified information and destroyed the secret boxes, but there are ways to extract information out of even the most thoroughly smashed boxes--and of course you hope that the crew in their panic, excitement or incapacitation didn't have time or forgot to destroy some key piece of equipment or memory bank. Every book, manual, scrap of paper or piece of equipment on board the plane would have intelligence value. Even the tiniest bit of information would be a piece of a gigantic puzzle, and you would never know if the tiny piece you're holding is the piece that makes the whole puzzle come together. The EP-3 spy plane now in Chinese hands is several generations more sophisticated than anything in that country, so we can expect that our plane will be taken apart piece by piece and studied with great interest. It is an intelligence bonanza for the Chinese. In China, the military's influence in matters of state is considerably higher than in the West, so the fate of our EP-3 and its crew may not be resolved for quite some time. The military can demand as much time as it requires to collect information before succumbing to diplomatic pressure. In the West, the diplomats can exert far more influence on the military, so the push would be on quickly for a peaceful resolution. - - - Dale Brown Is the Author of the Forthcoming "Warrior Class" (G.p. Your the greatest.. I think it is very important!!! :o)
A bump to the top (BTTT) for our Soldiers!!!
Yes, there are those of us who are boycotting. Some (hopefully a lot) will be passing out flyers at local Walmarts, Cosco's and K-marts etc.
So, in answer to your post,.. yes. And if I had known the formula for linking, I would have done so under your post.. but I'am remiss in my training on this type of communication. :o)
But, ever the faithful Patriot!!
Mary Ann
I didn't type it right. The warehouse shopping club's name is COSTCO with a T and is listed on the NYSE. COSCO without the T is the Chinese shipping company but it doesn't run any stores. Another COSCO is a company that makes baby products and is a division of an American owned company.
Walmart and K-Mart? Try our own military ordering stuff from China? How about the darn L.L.Bean boat shoes my spouse ordered that came yesterday? Leather and thought to be American made when ordered. Made in China. You cannot get away from them. They make everything we buy. Think of buying a Buick Regal? We saw Al Gore standing in Bejing announcing that 100,000 of them would be made in China. Look at the phone you use or anything else.
BTTT. Been doing it for twenty + years, and I feel better about it everyday.
bump! God Bless You Both!! Also, don't forget the Yellow Ribbons!
Hey, thanks B-Cause for your link to COSCO. Yep it's the same company my neighbor talked of.
BTTT for Justice.
Not one cent for tribute.
Thank you!!! I didn't know this stuff,.. we are learning a lot. I keep an open mind,..and I'm headed to the COSCO site to study that more too. Wow..
WE NEED TO REJUVINATE THE "BUY AMERICAN" SPIRIT!!! One person here said he had been doing so for 20 years!!! Thats what I was trying to remember, was when we as a nation were trying to REMEMBER to ALWAYS buy AMERICAN, so as to save American jobs.
How prophetic, that we are where we are today. So many Americans losing jobs,.. manufacturing going to so many other countries.
I guess if there "could" be a silver lining in the cloud, so to speak.. it would be that maybe this crisis will wake up MORE Aericans,.. and they will start to support their own Country!!
I confess to having been remiss... I'm embarrassed by my own actions.
Besides,.. we all know that "Made in America" is probably better made.. I know we started to slip regarding quality,.. which I think is why so many people started to buy cars made in Asian Country's etc.
Hopefully, this will wake up Americans and get reactions, reactions that will enable/encourage our own manufacturers, to make better quality products. WE USED TO MAKE THE ABSOLUTE BEST PRODUCTS ANYWHERE... I wonder (thinking aloud here) what happened. I would be interested in dialogue regarding that.. and what we as a Nation can do to fix it.
Thanks all!!! Mary Ann
PS!!!! I got a TON of postive remarks about the boycott in my e-mail this morning.. so please remember to copy and paste/send the origina post to all your e-mail list!!! Ask them to forward to everyone in their list too!!
For some time I have tried not to buy products made in Chisa because some products are made with slave labor. I have found that it is very difficult to do so.
The other amazing thing to me is the fact that some similar American products are considerably higher in price.
The other problem is that it is very difficult to determine what is "made in America"? For instance what is an American car. Is it a Ford made it Canada or is it a Toyota made in America? But keep on trying.
I suggest that you let the owners/presidents of the large companies know what you think.
Keep your powder dry.
Well, here is the O'Reilly Factor Talking Points Memo I made reference to in an above post. Now I've forgotten how to link in HTML (I did it once successfully last week on this board but now I'm having a "senior moment", so to speak, and find I've forgotten how to link). If anyone can link to OReilly's address right below I'd be beholden. TIA.

As you may know, I have suggested that Americans boycott Chinese products for while sending a little consumer missile over to Beijing - just something you and I can do.
I believe that the hostage situation will soon be resolved. But the broader problem of U.S.-Chinese relations will remain just that - a problem. The Chinese leadership knows it can only control its two billion citizens by a system of terror and aggression. China is a police state and the government still reveres the late communist dictator Mao Tse Tung a man who killed millions of his own people. That would be like Germany still holding Hitler in high regard. But the West is not so interested in the internal state of China and the main focus in this country is doing business with the Chinese. Even though the balance of trade with China is vastly in its favor that market is the largest in the world and the potential for making money there is awesome. Most of the Chinese people are dirt poor and must be kept in a state of ignorance to be controlled. Thus, the Chinese leadership uses every excuse it can to portray America as the great Satan. Remember the government controls the press in China and has outright accused the U.S. of purposely bombing the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade a couple of years ago even though that was obviously a military mistake. And now the People's Daily, a newspaper that propagandizes for the Chinese government, is attacking America saying things like, "the gangster logic of hegemonism won't work before the Chinese people... arrogance and haughtiness can only court others' resentment." The Chinese bluster is designed to sow deep resentment in the minds of their people so that the temptation of American capitalism will not take hold. The Soviet Union collapsed because the people there wanted more freedom. If the Chinese people finally demand that their government will fall as well. So the Chinese leadership wants to fan anti-American sentiment from time to time to distract the population. That is what the plane incident is all about. In the end this whole thing will be resolved because it is bad for business. But the terror state in China will never be resolved until the government there falls. So I am going to do my part and not buy Chinese goods anymore. In a free society that is an option I have. And that's the memo.
I applaud your efforts, Mary Ann. When my Arthur became ill with a brain tumor nearly 7 (how could it be that long?)years ago, I began working at home - had enough of the corportate world anyway. I have a gift basket business and a couple years ago we started making our own baskets, containers....because they are ALL from China.(And the people making them work in just God-awful conditions!) You'd be amazed at what you can make if ya try. THAT is independence!
I tried handing out fliers at Wal-Mart after Monica Gate. After a few minutes I was informed that they do not allow that on their property. I then went to two universitis and left stacks in several locations.
BOYCOTT BOYCOTT Having Bumper stickers made...need more !!!!!!!!

I like your suggestions. Thanks!!
I was just watching Fox News, and they were addressing the fact that many Anericans are wanting to Boycott. They had a segement showing how many things were made in China.. and were saying how "we can't do without the goods from China".. that we depended on them.
Well, all I can say is, SO I WON'T BUY a new Car, or parts to fix things, unless I can find American made. If that hurts our own Economy,.. then its a good thing we see it NOW!!! If we have learned NOTHING from our Energy Crisis, then SHAME ON US!!! We are finding out in the "worst way" how much we rely on Foriegn Energy Products and subsequentaly how much POWER they now have over us!! They could BASICALLY SHUT US DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!
If its true, that we DEPEND on Chinese products to exist.. then we just gave another Foriegn Entity CONTROLL OVER US!!!
America needs to WAKE THE HELL UP!!!
We keep giving MONEY to all these other countries,..and send our troops all over the world, and we didn't even realize the problems we had in our own backyard!!!
I feel that America has the abilities and enough resources, that we NEED NOT BE DEPENDENT on other countries for our own existence!!!
This whole situation regarding US needing Chinese goods, added to the Energy Crisis we face should be a WAKE UP CALL FOR AMERICA!!!
I saw America with their proverbial heads in the sand during Clintoons administrations. I couldn't believe how much they were willing to NOT SEE, in order to NOT rock the "proverbial boat". Well, now we can plainly see were these lax attitudes have gotten us....
Pathetic!!!!
I'm praying very hard that America is "recognizing" the wake up call we are getting. Frightening.....
I'm hoping that the SPIRIT of America, will be renewed. That people will show other Governments and our own.. that we will NOT stand by idle, while we become more and more dependent on the whims of other countries. We don't NEED to be,.. we CAN BE more self sufficient. If we want to.. if we are wise enough to see what is really happening,..and realize the threat it is to not only us, but our Children and grandchildren... Then HOPEFULLY we WILL BOYCOTT,..AND WE WILL SHOW THEM THE RESOLVE OF OUR COUNTRY!!! OF OUR PEOPLE!!!
We need to get our people home.. then we need to fix some of the above problems PRONTO!!!
I've decided that I will make an EXTREME effort (like others here have stated thay have done),..and NOT BUY anything not made in the good ole' USA!!!
I have a gift basket business and a couple years ago we started making our own baskets,
You'd be amazed at what you can make if ya try. THAT is independence!
WOW!!! YOURS IS THE AMERICAN SPIRIT AT ITS FINEST!!!! Way to go!!! This is what we need in America.. I salute you and applaud you!!! I'm so impressed!!!
God Bless,.. Mary Ann
Thanks for the bumps Octavius!!!! (BTW, I love the sound of your onscreen nickname..and out of ignorance may I ask what it stands for..??) I'm having a niggling of rememberance, but must fiegn ignorance! ughhhh they say the mind is the one that goes first.. gee, I sure hope that isn't true :o)
Thanks, Mary Ann
