Russia slashes income taxes

Your Opinion/Questions News Keywords: INCOME TAX
Source: News World International
Posted on 05/01/2001 10:12:00 PDT by Michael Rivero

News World International is reporting that Russia is cutting the income tax rate from the current 30% to just 13% in an attempt to reduce te motive for people to cheat on their taxes, jump start their economy, and reduce the public's resentment of the government.

Sounds like something we could use here.

I like this. First, Chile's got a better retirement system than we do, and now it appears the Russians have a better idea vis taxing policy.

I suppose next we'll be learning how to launch satellites from the Congolese.

Psst! Russia. Buy low, sell high, collect early, pay late!

How odd, the Russians are looking more like they are becoming what Reagan wanted while we are stuck with dolts like Tommy and Dicky, the muffler men. And they want us to be like old Socialist Mother Russia.

Gee!This will turn some heads!Makes you wonder who the communist/socialist really are in this world. While Americans "MIGHT" get a tax cut the Russian government learned that if the people feel like they are being screwed they won't pay.The US government could take a good lesson from them.

Between this and NASA's behavior toward space tourist Tito, I guess the USA is officially more socialist than the former USSR.

Whee.

Guilty by media until proven innocent, illegal searches and seizures, never ending gun control tactics, forced labor for the gov't for 3 or more months out of a year, a Constitution that has been interpreted into obscurity. Yep, we've bout landed into bizarro world.

Actually, that is 'zackly why they want to cut the rates: Cheating is widespread.

What was that JFK said on the subject? When the marginal rates are way too large, then too much effort will be spent trying to evade them that could be put to better use through investment....

They must be watching the boom in Ireland which will soon have a top corporate rate of 12.5%. Currently their government consumes just 13.3% of GDP--a level few, if any, of us here have seen.

You never know. Countries all over Europe have gotten the tax-cutting bug lately, from Germany to Sweden. And Germany's is actually larger as a percentage of GDP than what Bush is proposing. What I want to know, is how can they seat Greens in their legislatures and still be to the right of the US on economics.

I think that's because all the taxes added up to more than 100%.

Virtually all of our Democrats are the equivalent of European Greens. Just like all our liberals are really closet socialists.

Interesting thing. There is the agreement signed between US and Russia about elimininating the double taxing. So if individual pays in Russia he can put that income on tax exempt in America.

I don't know all the details but individuals with russian passports who works in US IMHO may pay taxes in Russia.

Yep, you should see the underground economy in Europe, it almost matches the above ground.
