Beirut (dpa) - The pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement said Tuesday its "air defences" fired anti-aircraft machineguns on Israeli planes that violated Lebanese airspace.A Hezbollah statement said its "air defences fired at intruding planes twice once at 1530 (1230 GMT) 1610 (1310 GMT) near Bint Jbeil region."
This is the first time Hezbollah air defences have fired at Israeli jets since Israel ended its 22 years of occupation in May 2000.
On June 3, the Lebanese army fired anti-aircraft batteries on intruding Israeli aircraft for the first since Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon.
The planes also flew at low altitude over the cities of Sidon and Tyre in southern Lebanon.
Israel had all but stopped flights over Lebanon following its pullout, but resumed them in October after Hezbollah sntached three Israeli soldiers from the disputed Shebaa Farms region.
Hezbollah has also killed three soldiers in ambushes on the Shebaa Farms, which Israel captured from Syria in 1967 but is claimed by Lebanon with Damascus ' support.
