Eastchester Teacher Now a She
School Officials Hope Transsexual's Return Goes Smoothly
When last seen by students at Eastchester High School, art teacher Randey Gordon was a man. When they return to class in September, that will no longer be the case.
"Mr. Gordon isn't Mr. Gordon anymore," said the 52-year-old teacher, who underwent a sex-change operation last month. "But it's still me. The parents and the kids who knew me as a man, they'll accept me. The person hasn't changed. I'm the same crazy, humorous person I was before."
Many transsexuals who have the operation — there are an estimated 1,000 annually in the United States — decide to start a new life with a new identity. But Gordon, who has taught in the Westchester County district for 10 years, is one of a small number across the country who are returning to the classroom after a sexchange.
"I love my job," Gordon said in an interview from Santa Fe, N.M., where she is recovering. "I shouldn't have to give that up. The fact is that diversity is something the world needs to understand and respect, and I'm doing this for others."
A similar case is unfolding at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Ill., where school officials have notified parents that a female science teacher will return to classes this fall as a man. In Lake Forest, Ill., an English teacher became a woman in the summer of 1998, and "the transition was very smooth," said Assistant Principal Jay Hoffmann.
It doesn't always work that way. Dana Rivers, a teacher in Sacramento, Calif., was fired in 1999 after announcing her sex-change operation. The school board said parents complained that Rivers had talked to students about the decision. Rivers denied that and sued; she received a $150,000 settlement and resigned.
Gordon predicts her sex change "will be old news a week after school starts" on Sept. 4 at the 600-student high school.
Not yet, though. The school district invited students and parents to what turned out to be a lively meeting that covered everything from privacy rights to bathroom use.
"There was a lot of confusion, and people had questions," Superintendent Bob Siebert said. "Most people were supportive. We told them everything we could about what had happened, and we assured them that Randey was going to have to be responsible, like any other teacher, about what she says to the students. We also told them Randey had rights that have to be protected."
Ellie Giotas, who has a daughter in the high school, has doubts.
"They're trying to justify something in the name of freedom, in the name of the law," Giotas said. "I would tell this guy, 'Why don't you get...out and start your new life somewhere else? Why do you have to impose this on us, on our children?'"
Gordon, who was born in the Bronx, describes her life as "like being in solitary confinement for 40-some years."
"I didn't just wake up one day and say, 'Okay, where's the application to become a woman?'" she said. "All my life I knew there was something wrong."

Please get your terminology right. It (the subject of the article) is not a woman - or a man. It can call itself whatever it likes, but doing so will not change the fact that it is a neuter, not a female.
The guy is a freak. His mind is gone. Yet, his union and liberals force the rest of us to say, think, and act otherwise. Why? Not only is he a freak, but he has forced this entire school, kids and all, to actively participate in his rehabilitative therapy. They are forced to help him halucinate that he really was a female trapped inside a man's body. What garbage! What does this do to impressionable kids? F**k 'em! They must help support this guy's delisions, they have no choice. He has a choice, but they don't!
when i hear stories like this i have to tell a couple tales i know of.
in the 60's i knew a guy named harvey and his sister fran. we always partied together and had some good times. well, harv went to viet-nam and served in the marines. he came back in '68 and proceeded to have a sex change operation. i never saw him/her after that but heard he/she was quite attractive. i was shocked (we all were) to say the least.
another guy i used to work construction with always went to the bar to drink and pick up the loosey/gooseys. one day at work he told us of one of his conquests the weekend before. now he was a puerto rican and had a fairly heavy accent, so listening to him describe what happened was even funnier.
he said he picked up a 'beautiful woman' and took her to the 'no-tell motel'. he said he began to kiss her and grab here and there and said, 'man, when i put my hand 'down there'....she had a D**K'!!! talk about ROTFLOAO!!! he was a funny guy. :)
A she will never be a he, and a he will never be a she. The true definition includes the possibility at least of reproduction of that sex of that species.

Supposedly they can have sexual pleasure, but they can never orgasm. How frustrating! I read an article about one who regrets it, because of that. Like a nightmare you can never wake up from.

We had a similar experience in my workplace, hope (s)he is ready for hell on earth. Of course, it made the papers, and (s)he got hounded, humiliated, and (reportedly) raped (EWW)!
Of course, (s)he didn't want to use the men's room, and women refused to share their facilities, so the company had to set up a "separate but equal" facility for ONE person.
Didn't he play as one of young Vito Corleone's (DeNiro) lieutenants in GodFather II? The scene where the slumlord who has kicked the old lady out of her apartment gets let into Vito's office by this lieutenant.
Sorry, but there is no such thing as a sex change.
This thing will never be able to have a period, PMS, baby, menopause or any of the other distinguishing characteristics and/or phenomena of the female sex.

Back in the 70's, I went to rival Tuckahoe High School, where we had a certain math teacher who was also the photography and media arts advisor. He always seemed to be around the younger boys that arrived each year. My father, after meeting him at a parent-teacher conference, told my brothers and I to stay the f*** away from this guy.
My freshman year in college, I got a phone call from a buddy who said, "Guess who got arrested for child molestation yesterday." I guessed correctly immediately, as I'm sure everyone else in my old school did. I mean, we ALL knew.

That’s very, very, very old news. Like since the time Ancient Greece. It’s got to the point where that the inmates that are running the asylum, no longer realize that they were inmates to begin with.
By the way, if any of you had done some research, like I did (I find weird stuff interesting), you’d realize that pedophilia is nonexistent in male-to-female 'MtF' (that is the term used) transsexuals. Also, that the artificial hormones (estrogen) and androgens (suppresses testosterone) that MtF transsexuals take all but kills their sex drive. So, wouldn't worry much on that subject.
