The D.C. Chapter was on station at 1000 today (4 August) in front of the Northeast gate of the White House, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, District of Columbia. The Honor Roll included Sauropod (organizer of the event), Kristinn, Angelwood, tgslTakoma, Jimmy Valentine's brother, BufordP, GunsareOK, ClintonsALiar, Swedegirl, BrucefromMtVernon, NoDemocrats2000 and Dave Dilegge. Individual D.C. Freeper accounts will be added to this thread.
To start if off - I was in awe of the tourist reaction to the plight of the Klamath Basin farmers.
The N.E. gate is where the White House tour lets out onto Pennsylvania Avenue. Literally hundreds of tourists stepped out into our FReep - and by a huge margin were supportive of the Klamath Basin farmers. Some had heard of the Klamath farmer's plight - some had not. Regardless of their level of knowledge on this issue they wanted to listen, discuss and express support. Kristinn, Angelwood, Sauropod, and BufordP were particularly articulate in getting the message across. ClintonsALiar arrived just a bit after we started - took over the petition duties and did wonders. The petition will be transcribed and forwarded.
We are not farmers nor do we live in the Northeast - that said we took the Northeast gate of the White House today to show solidarity with our brethrens in Oregon. What we know - and know so well - is what is right - and this was the RIGHT thing to do.
So - as there will be many accounts added to this thread - lets turn to the pic's:

Lot's of pic's - but as they say ~worth a thousand words~ and we are wishing you all the best in this most important endeavor. As we relayed to many an observer today - first the Klamath farmers - next you! This madness must stop and stop now. We sincerely with we could do more.
Flag - great being out there with you guys today.
Flag - we did something important today - you all take the protest out of protesting;-)
Thanks, DC chapter. Those of us that daily live with the madness generated by BLM, USFS, BoR, F&WS, and the rest of the alphabet commissars, owe you one.
Flag - you guys were great - thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules - giving a damn really makes a difference!
"nor do we live in the Northwest" and with is wish - happy fingers after a long day of FReeping;-)
Outstanding!!! More, More, More!!

Tehehehehehehehehehe! You might want to get a map out and check to see where Oregon is.
You guys are the greatest.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I just heard that INTERIOR SECRETARY GALE NORTON IS GOING TO BE ON FOX NEWS SUNDAY
It will be real interesting to see what she has to say.
OUTSTANDING job! The environmental movement is a DANGEROUS threat to our sovereignty and our Constitution! I hope the DC Chapter was able to waken the eyes of many to the green menace! You couldn't have chosen better photos to get the point across! Way to go!

Any Freeps planned for the young firefighters who died for lack of water that just might have contained an endangered fish? Seems it's up to Freepers to educate the public these days. Thanks for doing the work of America.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Reaction today was generally favorable. It was substantially different than WH FReeps done in the past. There was no polarizing figure like His Slickness, so people had to think about what we were saying.
JVB came up with a sign which listed the 4 firefighters who recently died waiting for water. That is what grabbed people the most about this event. CaL (who came late because she was winded after having to walk up stairs to her office desk, i mean all of 3 floors!) was particularly effective with the "4 people died" line of reasoning. She got a very strong response from people when she mentioned that they have families who are grieving today because of what the firefighters have to face and the senselessness of their deaths.
JVB came up with a good line and asked if people had ever tried to catch a salmon with a bucket (referring to the delayed helicopter water drops which allegedly caused the 4 firefighter deaths). Thx, Highway Helper.
We had a family of firefighters who were very moved by our protest today and they signed our petition sign-in sheet. Today, we added 93 signatures to the Klamath Basin petition, all because of CaL, in spite of her cushy office job as Keyes' media person.
I talked with a woman who lives about 30 miles from Klamath (she said Quincy). I went through with her the reasoning about the ESA and why it was bad. I discussed with her about the 4 firefighters who died. I discussed with her about the 1400 farmers who have no water. She agreed with every one of my points and at the end of all this she stated that she did not agree with our stance. She believed that the areas needed to be "protected" for "the children." I discussed it some more with her and finally she admitted that this was an "emotional issue" for her and nothing was gonna change her mind.
Sigh.
There were two girls (teenagers) who came out. One of them looked nervous when looking at me and slowly, so slowly, she raised her hand in a fist and then opened her palm. It said "Bush Sucks" on it. Real fine piece of reasoning, that.
We had one man come by on a bicycle who stated that what we were saying was "all exaggeration."
We had two women walk by with signs they wore around their necks that said "Kyoto Now" and "Down with Bush". They hugged the fence as they passed us by. When i saw them the first time, i yelled at them "No Kyoto!" and a few other things about how Kyoto would butcher the US Economy. The older of the two women kinda snickered at us, but she had no response. Later on, the two women came back (what chutzpa!) and I started yelling at them "Support Kyoto! Only Rumania has signed on to the original treaty. Not Germany, Not Great Britain, Not France, etc. She started laughing, but again she couldn't say anything. It was a lot of fun ribbing them. The third time they came by, it was sans signs (hoping we wouldn't notice them, they were headed down the street away from us). I yelled after them in a very loud voice (If you love what's happening in California, you'll love Kyoto!).
Also, some Falun Gong people were there asking for support for their cause.
It was very hot today and i melted in that da@# Fish Hat and robe. A little girl asked to see my "Ariel" figurine on my homemade PVC tripod, and i said sure, but my daughter had dibs on her.
Thanks to all very much for coming out. I especially appreciated DD, CaL, and tgslTakoma for helping out so generously.
In my 3+ years on FR, i have always been a land rights kinda guy. Jarbidge did not get this kind of reaction, Darby did not get this kind of reaction, the "Roadless Conservation Area" did not get this kind of reaction. Klamath seems to resonate with people. I would say the favorable to unfavorable ratio was about 80 to 90 %.
Rectitudine Sto. Sauropod.
What fun, what fun.
Still using your signs, MD.
Terry and Carmela, you were missed.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I HEARD INTERIOR SECRETARY GALE NORTON WILL BE ON FOX NEWS SUNDAY
It will be interesting to see what she has to say about this.

Thank you for the post and the pictures, Dave Dilegge! I've already added the 93 signatures we got to the online petition!
It was great to finally meet you!
Hot, humid and wonderful FReep day at the White House!
Dave, All DC FReepers, Once again you make us all PROUD to be FReepers. Well done.
"CaL (who came late because she was winded after having to walk up stairs to her office desk, i mean all of 3 floors!)"
LOL! Did I mention that it was upstairs, both ways? LOL
It's always a great day when you're fulfilling your citizenship duty and vocation! Kudos to you for calling for this protest, sauropod!
A California Farmer thanks you on behalf of the Klamath Basin Farmers.
Hey - once again - thanks so much for putting this all together. You did good King Fish.
Thanks for the work you're doing for the Klamath Basin farmers, in FReeRepublic's name. You guys are the BEST!
Well, technically we do not live in the Northeast (DC, VA, and MD) - but I had Northeast on the mind and of course spell check does not know that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Thanks for the support!
You all did a fine thing, and I want to thank each of you. Each positive action is another brick added to a growing wall- the individual brick may not seem important, but together they add up to a mighty work. "If Klamth Falls, we're all Suckers...."
Them today... us tommorrow---
Their farms today... our jobs tommorrow---
Y'all are awesome.
Wow! The photos turned out great. Thank you for posting this report and pictures to share our day with the rest of Free Republic.
I found some people who were already well informed about the situation at Klamath Basin. There were two gentlemen out for their healthy bike ride who stopped by to check out our signs and discuss why we were protesting. They hadn't heard about Free Republic but promised to check it out.
There was a lady who was quite moved by my recitation about the lost firefighters and the fish favored over humans. I thought I was having an impact until she sadly stated that the situation was "complicated."
What's complicated about a beaurocracy taking 9 hours to make a decision to send helicopters with buckets of water to drop on a raging fire and causing the deaths of 4 courageous young people as the result of that delay? People should have precedence over fish. Fish are not our friends -- fish are a source of food.
The woman slowly walked away still mumbling about it being "complicated." And I wondered if it would still be complicated if one of those who died had been her son or daughter.
A teacher stopped to talk. During the course of our conversation, he asked me about Cong. Gary Condit (several FReepers were wearing the "Stop Intern Abuse" t-shirt today). He wanted to know if the local people living around Washington, DC thought Condit dit it with regard to the disappearance (and probable death) of Chandra Levy. He believed Condit was not being forthright and was involved.
We ran into a few people who scoffed at our message today. I took a break and sat on the wall by the White House fence and watched several groups walk by making fun of the protesters. They were laughing and joking, pumping an arm in the air saying, "GO FISH, GO FISH." I'm sure they would change their tune if the heavy arm of the government came down upon them, took away their livelihood and made them powerless to defend themselves and take care of their families.
The crowds were attentive and it was like old times to be standing in the freep line outside the Northeast Gate of the White House. Thanks to all who came out today, all who listened and asked questions and all who signed the petition for the farmers of the Klamath Basin.
...that goes for y'all, too.
You are quite welcome, JustAmy! Thank you for growing food that feeds this nation. God bless.
Thank you one and all for this great Freep to keep the Klamath Falls plight of the farmers alive. The implications here go far beyond the borders of our State.
Thought you might be interested. The word is getting out there.
Jolly, if you receive this today I want to let you know that
INTERIOR SECRETARY GALE NORTON WILL BE ON FOX NEWS SUNDAY.
I think it is 8:00 a.m. PT
It will be very interesting to see what she had to say about this.
Good show!
BTTT!
It was great walking the protest line with you again, Angelwood! Hugs!
Just like old times, wasn't it? Can't wait - see you again in two weeks.
Yes, ma'am! WHOOO HOOO!
I had to wait to the end of the day to get my hug! Sheesh.
Even tho i did smell like a herd of goats.
Uh, that would be "Trident." Hey, what can i say. Feeble in body, poor in spirit, with a limited, and public, education.
You guys did a great job today....
Way to go - How many signatures did you get?
Sauropod you looked great sucker.
Loved the pictures
DC FReepers are the tops!
Without farmers we have nothing...
The signs are great. Thanks to all of you who braved the heat and the catcalling for this important task.
Boy you are fast! You already put 93 online - You put me to shame. I am still working on mine. It is slowly going down though. Wish I had normal eye muscles. hahaha
You guys did great!
Thank you, again, and again.
You guys did a fabulous job! Thank you so much for stepping in to represent the rest of us that are too far away to help.
Blessings for bringing the cause to the streets!
Blessings for putting up with the heat!
Blessings for putting your shoulder to the wheel of activism in a real and personal outreach!
Pod, you crasy guy, what a FanFREEPINGtastic costume!
What wonderful photos...you folks move us on to victory...THANK YOU each and every one.
GOD BLESS YOU and GOD BLESS AMERICA.
LOL! Well, there were a lot of families so I had stretches where the first name was the only thing that changed, so after the signature registered, I hit "back" on the browser and changed the first name. hehe
Thanks...for all you did.
Blessings for bringing the cause to the streets!
Blessings for putting up with the heat!
Blessings for putting your shoulder to the wheel of activism in a real and personal outreach!
What we know - and know so well - is what is right - and this was the RIGHT thing to do.
What wonderful SIGNS--they tell the story of the cause so well! What wonderful photos--it's easy to see that this Freep was well organized and successful. Let us hope that Chapters across the country will soon be calling on you for advice and duplicating your success. THANK YOU each and everyone for leading the way.
GOD BLESS YOU and GOD BLESS AMERICA.
ping!
ping!
Thank you and God's blessings upon you, as well, KOTF.
Actions speak louder than words...once again the DC freepers were willing to spend a Saturdy morning taking back our nation.
Hope to see you all in September.... I'm an out of towner for most of this month. Big hello to Connie!!!
Thanks for the ping Keeper of the Flame.
There's just not enough words to say how wonderful all of you are! BTTT!
Wonderful. Thanks to you all.
I really like the term "Green Menace". It has possibilities for some sort of mascot against the enviro Nazis. Registered, here is a challenge for your genius.
THANKS for all that you do!
It seems like old times having you both at the "gate". Amgel, is it my imagination, or are there more people visiting the WH now that the scum has been removed? Thank you guys for your part in saving the country. I'll have the petitions out at our county fair next week. (((((hugs))))
Dave and DC, thank you so much for what you did, and for what you are doing! Great work - we love you guys, JL
Hey, Ms. K! Good to see you! Big hello backatya!
Sorry that I was in Florida and had to miss this great FReep for a most worthwhile cause!
I'll be at the next one.
Hugs.
“I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”
[Thomas Jefferson, letter to Benjamin Rush, 1800.]
Scrap the Code! Scrap the IRS! Abolish the VLWC!
We will never be a truly FRee people so long as we have the income tax and the IRS.
LOL! You know, now that you mention it, the tours during the previous administration (((shudder))) were always over by no later than 2:00pm. They were still going strong and had floods of folks coming out of the White House when we left to go to our after FReep luncheon -- once it started raining! But there were still folks coming out when we fled to our favorite restaurant!
Good to see you, RevNan! Thanks for taking some petitions with you to the fair! It's a very important issue. The federal government is out of control (no, really?) and its time to make some noise BIGTIME while there is someone in the White House who MAY think about maybe listening. With the previous administration (((shudder))) we had literally NO chance they would do anything to benefit humanity -- only themselves.
Then I'll see ya in two weeks!
I'll be there!
Most excellent!
Great work!!
I remember sometime late in the perverts term a reporter asked you or one of the other D.C. freepers if you would protest Bush if he did anything wrong. The reporter assumed you would only protest Democrats. The freeper told the repoter that you would protest any wrongdoing, no matter what. If anybody remembers this reporters name you need to invite them to the next freep.
Excellent!
5.56mm
sauropod: BRAVO on your outfit & sign! Bet you caught a lot of attention as the Great Sucker Fish!
All who attended: OUTSTANDING FREEP!
Dave great pics. Captured the event. I was first on the scene today. As I approached the Northeast gate one of the black gunships rolled up and wanted to what's up? I informed them I was there to protest the Klamath Basin water shutoff; showed my sign. They asked if I was with FreeRepublic and they wanted to know how many people were coming. I said the usual unruly mob and that settled it for them. We are well known to the Secret Service. They know when Freepers are in the streets, as ironman would say, "No heavy lifting required."
As reported, we were well received and people would listen to what we had to say. Hopefully more will sign the online petition. kristinn was his usual eloquent self. BufordP got straight to the point, "If you believe fish are more important than people keep walking, however if you believe people are important, sign our petition."
Although we managed to collect some signatures before CAL arrived, people really started lining up after she started to work the crowd.
NoDems and I would occasionally break into a "Fish First" chant. What's a protest without a chant? "Turn on the water" might have been more appropriate but we like ‘em short and sweet.
A couple of high and tights got slightly confused when kristinn gave a soliloquy about Dick Cheney refusing to identify the people who had advised him about the administration's energy plan. The next thing I knew they were accusing kristinn of being a socialist. I informed them that we had been and 34th and Mass and the Chinese Embassy and somehow had missed them. I told them that we didn't need to be told about no stinkin’, left wing, commie socialists.
Well we had a productive day. My wife is always glad when I spend time outdoors. Even though we hadn't been at the Northeast gate for a while, we'd always vowed that if the Constitution was being threatened that we'd be back. And so we returned today
Bravo and thank you!!!
I have tears in my eyes....In this day in age I am moved that people so far away would care enough about us to dedicate a day to bring this issue to the public in Washington D.C. On behalf of the farmers in the Klamath Basin, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
It is so uplifting to realize that folks thousands of miles away still feel a sense of kinship with the farmers in a small rural town and the disaster that has befallen them at the hands of the federal government. I guess there is still a "We the People."
OUTSTANDING ... you guys are GREAT! God bless you each for your efforts ... I know the folks in Klamath will be VERY grateful.
Someone should post the main post from this thread over on the KlamathBasinCrisis.org message board!
My son and I were out in between ditch digging, tar papering our now enclosed car port and landscaping. Had to get caught up on some of those honey do's don;t you know!Whew! Lot's of hard work that.
This morning we got 52 names from the Farmer's Market and various places around town.
This afternoon and evening, we were at the county fair. What a crowd ... well over 95% signature rate. We got 140 signatures this evening as we walked around talking to people. Had a couple not sign who said they never signed anything and two who did not want to see the ESA repealed, even though they admitted it was being used badly here.
The rest were SLAM DUNKS!
If I had had two clipboards we would have gotten twice as many signatures. As it was, we came very close to our goal of 200 signatures for the day.
Hope many more did the same.
The 52 names from earlier are already in, will start the 1400 names in just a few minutes.
Another amazing effort. I sometimes wish I lived near DC to be so close to the action.
You are all great citizens, not spectators. Bravo!
thanks for taking the time to organize this, your effort is appreciated and very important. FReegards, Rob
I guess there is still a "We the People."
You bet there is! And we outnumber them, if we'd just wise up and realize it! LOL
And you're quite welcome. It was a great way to spend the afternoon, fulfilling the duty we all have to our citizenship vocation.
I'd like to thank you for doing the hard work that feeds our nation.
Godspeed.
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! FANFREEPINGTASTIC! LOL Did you get alot of signatures???
Super job today! I give you my sharpest salute. Let's go eat some sucker-fish together next time I'm in town.
"Let's go eat some sucker-fish together next time I'm in town."
You're on!
There's no way to express how thankful I am to you all. Being a good neighbor isn't always about being next door, and you are the best kind of neighbor.
SOUTHERN OREGON THANKS THE DC CHAPTERS FOR STANDING UP FOR THIER FELLOW AMERICANS. YAHOOOO!
". I guess there is still a "We the People."
Damn straight there is honey! Now, don't you ever forget it again. Freepers are awesome, huh??
Have I told you lately that YOU ROCK GIRL!!!
:)
God Bless each and everyone of you and your families!
Stand tall and proud Patriots!
Great to finally meet you too. Here is a pic of Sauropod's new found friends:

Kyoto and No to Bush - they really did not like it when I asked them where their clothes were made - "Look at the Tags - Some sweatshop in the PRC? They had really no idea why they were out there - if they really cared they could have joined in with us to really help out someone. After they ditched the signs and changed their politics of course!
Almost forgot the "Quote of the Day". A guy came up and thanked us for being there. One of us asked him if he knew about the situation in the Klamath Basin. He said "no, I am a tourist and you guys are a tourist attraction." Oh well, he seemed to be saying it in good humor.

Want to create REAL political power for Rural Americans? Want to actually see ESA reformed to be rural friendly? Want to have influence in legislation that affects you?
It doesn't take much to imagine a central government bureaucrat finding an endagered specie or a wet land on any of our property. It doen't take much to imagine the central government allowing our child to be killed. It happened at Waco, Ruby Ridge, Mogadishu, Somalia, the USS Cole, and the Kovar(sp) Towers. The central government has had lots of practice.
Yes, We the People better care about what the central government does to each and everyone of us no matter where we live.

Thanks for the heads up!
I'm just sore from being on my feet but thanks.
>> I HEARD INTERIOR SECRETARY GALE NORTON WILL BE ON FOX NEWS SUNDAY It will be interesting to see what she has to say about this. <<
Here's what I have to say about HER:
;-)
Your pics turned out great!
I didn't want you to miss this one!
hahaha well you are smarter than me. I have some families too or couples anyway, but it never occured to me to do that. - maybe it will move faster now.
The Squalid 14th Amendment Bump!
Thanks - you did great getting the message across about the plight of the Klamath Basin farmers and on the criminal neglect that resulted in the death of four firefighters. They were two teenage women and two men in their twenties. Asking the passing tourists how they would feel and react if it had been their sons or daughters, sisters or brothers went a long way in convincing "fence sitters" to sign the petition. BTW - I though you were going to change your screen name to Jimmy Valentine's "other brother".
We had two women walk by with signs they wore around their necks that said "Kyoto Now" and "Down with Bush". They hugged the fence as they passed us by. When i saw them the first time, i yelled at them "No Kyoto!" and a few other things about how Kyoto would butcher the US Economy...
Thank you SO much for standing up to these clueless Libs! These two are so typical of the "greenie" Liberal hypocrites that we run into on a daily basis up here in the Blue Zone Northeast.
I do so very little - The ones who really are great are Jeff Head and Clintons a liar. They seem to have unlimited energy resources. They amaze me.
I really like the term "Green Menace".
The phrase didn't take a great deal of thought...we referred to the threat of Communism as the "Red Menace" in the 50's and 60's. They just changed colors over the past few years to make their agenda more palatable to the American sheeple, especially young adults and children. Make no mistake about it, however. The "Greens" are just as dedicated to the goals of Communism as the "Reds" who came before. I would like to see the "Green Menace" label stick.

Nice shoes,S+! ;)
...and you all thought your Saturdays at the White House were over with.
Great Job,Everyone!
Excellent work as always, DC Freepers! Thank you for successfully getting such an important message across. (And having to stand out there in the sweltering heat and humidity to do it!)
I'M JIMMY VALENTINE'S OTHER BROTHER!
100½ Looks like someone already grabbed it. Can I be Dave Dilegge's brother?

Congratulations to all of the participants in signature gathering and raising awareness of the attack on our freedoms by the Enviro-Nazis!
Down with the left-wing-nut environmental wackos and up with the people!
The four fighterfighters had names and faces. Click on the names for a larger photo and a bio.

You know, I like "Green Menace" too. Let's put together a list of the deaths caused by the Green Menace, millions alone have died because of the banning of DDT and there are now cholera epidemics, which had been eradicated decades ago. The Green Menace strikes again and leaves dead people in it's wake. We need to smash the "moral superiority", which has sustained the Left for decades.
Thank you so much for this thread , the pictures and making it possible for those of us that could not be there be a part of the FReep . I would LOVE to live there and FReep with all of you. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this ping. This is wonderful.
I LOVE you All so much. FReepers are the best in all the land.
I LOVE Freepers. Thank you for what you did. FReepers are the best !!
Thank you so much. If I lived even near there I would of been there with you. I love FReeprs they are the best.
Thank you for all you have done. I LOVE FReepers so much. They are the best in all the land.
Hi S.B.
Ya know that thread we met on yesterday... I still have flags on my "self search," but the thread and it's founder and the one who flagged me are ALL MISSING IN ACTION!!!
Did you happen to see the "Grand Finale?"
You have brought us all "Ecstacy in Freepin!"
Now you all have a HUGE "Encore Problem!"
We are enthralled with your SUPERB report!!!
Our entire household is ABUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
May your efforts restore humankind to it's rightful place in dominion and stewardship as the first human was by God's decree!
If we do not have "dominion," what's the point of "stewardship," anyway???
No I missed it. I did not know till this morning that it was gone. The person that did the thread was wrong, I do know that though. LOL
Thank all of you for your OUTSTANDING FReeping efforts!
DC Chapter ROCKS!
18 and 19 year old girls?? That is why you don't send girls to do a man's job. This is terrible.
Thanks, gang. If we learned anything during the last election fiasco, it's that these demonstrations do help our cause.
Wow - just visited your FR homepage - thanks so much from a former Marine! You did good Snow Bunny in Vietnam - USO tours have always been a morale booster! Lost a fellow Marine (cousin) in 1968 - he was the main reason I joined the Corps.
The Gipper quote in reference to the Marines making a difference has always been a favorite. Again, thanks and "Fair Winds and Following Seas............
Semper Fi,
Dave
I really wish i'd a had this yesterday.
Would like links to full size pics of the 2 kyoto babes and my back.
Please?
This is from Mrs. Sierra Wasp, a legitimate and extremely concerned environmentalist.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you are doing and especially for the pictures. Wish we could be there to help.
I was filled with sorrow when I saw your pic of the terrified deer standing in the water, surrounded by the holocaust of fire. I am sure the water was pretty hot by that time but they had no where else to go.
It is hard to imagine the terror those four courageous young firefighters felt as they were engulfed in a holocaust of fire. They more than likely had no pond of water to dive into as did the deer in the picture.
Keep up the good fight. We will win someday - maybe not in my lifetime but we have made a great start for the next generation of "freepers".
You are a bad, bad boy brother Buford. You know way too many tricks. Interesting things happen when you click those links.

PEOPLE FIRST !!! - Please sign this petition.
Stop the funding of the Endangered Species Act that is usurping the rights of people under the guize of protecting alledged endangered species. This act is allowing land grabs, control of lands and water usage, denial of water rights and is putting property ownership at risk.

Our entire household is ABUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
What a GREAT job sauropod, and the DC FReepers. I am certain it is all abuzzzzzzz on the threads now, but what a treat to hear about the Klamath plight on FNS. It's just too bad that Norton's tongue of truth was tied with pablum spewing out of both sides of her mouth!
The Sierra wasp has been here to the headgate at A canal in Klamathfalls and was great support. We need all the help we can get folks, this is the line in the sand and America is starting to figure it out. Send everyone you knowto the website klamathbasincrisis.org and sign the petition!!! Freegaurds, Isssaquahking
"She believed that the areas needed to be "protected" for "the children.""
We need to call Child Protective Services and report this woman for "attempting to starve "the children"".
Without the Klamath farmer's food, McDonalds would not have hamburgers, fries and milkshakes to feed her children! If farmers are run out of town, all the children would have left to eat is the dirty sucker fish and then they would be in danger of choking to death on the bones.
It would "take the entire village" to remove enough bones to make the sucker fish safe for "the children" to eat. Two strikes against this woman!
"The Sierra wasp has been here to the headgate at A canal in Klamathfalls and was great support."
You betcha, IssaquahKING!!! I met a Freeper EXTRAORDINAIRE on the premises of that "Encampment Against Tyranny" who was working from dawn till way beyond dusk helping those hay & potato farmers to get their lives back!
Issaquahking was UNFLINCHING in his dedication and commitment and everybody there knew it. What a beautiful patriotic sight to behold.
Are ya still up there in yer little trailer full of computers? Is the hayrack loaded with 18 inch PVC pipes that Mrs. Wasp and I slept next to, still there at the ready for the "Minutemen?"
Phil V. is back up there now, helpin Freep the Federales. As you know, he was one of the "Minutemen" that helped frustrate the Feds with that first 8" irrigation "bypass!"
Is the upper lake level down that extra foot yet? What's happening with the eastern basin farmers and their 2 water districts that are being ordered to give it all up for Tule Lake wildlife preserve, unnecessarily?
We wanted to come back on the 21st, but we can't. Sadly! Mrs. Wasp had such a good time ridin on those haybales in the back of the pickups all over K. Falls helpin thank the public and all the merchants for their support.
Is that donkey still poopin in the path of the Feds while bein penned up with them in the "FEDERAL AGENT VIEWING AREA" along with those sheep? Too bad we can't afford to send them back to help the D.C. Freepers protest!!!
IssaquahKING... YOU RULE!!!
I really wish i'd a had this yesterday.
Sorry. I was very surprised (and disappointed) that no FReeper had found this article - almost a week old, with the pictures of the victims. I guess everyone is on vacation or something...
"We need to smash the "moral superiority", which has sustained the Left for decades."
We did pretty well around here in a political campaign against one of 'em by calling it "arrogant and phony, self-righteous moral superiority!"
Thank you so much. Thank you for the kind words. I am so proud fo you.
Semper Fi
I know that I left a lot of great DC area Freepers out of this reply to, but thanks for what you all did for our brothers and sisters in the Klamath Basin and the rest of us!
Sauropod, thanks for taking up the heavy lifting in getting this Freep started.
From the pictures of the tourists lining up to sign your petition, you could see a very common thread in their faces.
Instead of the usual maggot infested renta mob, the tourists are seeing and hearing protesters who could be their neighbors, friends, brothers and sisters. These protestors are not asking for handouts or trying to kill our economy with Kyoto or whatever. These protestors were protesting against a terrible injustice being done to 1500 farm families in the distant and small Klamath Basin.!
I just hope that GW had not left for Texas yet. Maybe our Texas Freepers can freep his ranch while he is on vacation!
God bless all of you! Your protests when Goron was trying to steal our country and against the ChiCom's embassy were very effective. I'm sure that this had an impact!
Jim Robinson has created a fantastic new way to deal with left wing extremists. We get the news first on FreeRepublic.com. People get involved at all levels as in this serious issue! I still think that when well mannered and educated conservatives protest like the Freepers did this past weekend, that this has incredible impact on those being protested. The Freeper protestors are not maggot infested, drugged out/dumbed rent a mobbers. Freeper protestors know what they are protesting about, and they are not a hired mob. The Freeper protestors are just the tip of huge iceberg of conservative feelings across the nation. We all know what an iceberg can do to those who feel that they are unsinkable and arrogant!
Great work! You guys/gals are incredible! Thanks again!
I'm sure that Jeff Head, Auntb, forester, PhilV, SierraWasp and others will get these pictures and the recount of your great freep to the Klamath Basin Farm Families! Those farm families now know that they are not alone in this struggle!
Thanks again to our brave in the street DC Freepers!
Would modify your statement just a little to say/read:
A false sense of self-righteous moral superiority!"
These enviral Nazi scumbags have never been righteous or correct anymore than Je$$E or Al $harple$$. We have allowed these despicable creatures with the help of their mediots to assume this False Sense of Self-Righteous Moral Superioty! They again just like the first Nazis on earth, those in Germany in the 1930's and 1940's. The first Nazis seized control with their Self-Righteousness and with the help of their jack booted SS thungs.
We are starting to shred and tear down that phoney air of self righteousness of the dangerous enviral Nazis. This entire Klamath Basin thing has blown up in their faces, and it is the beginning of the end of their control on America!

Thanks to you all for the support and kind words - from all the D.C. FReepers!
The D.C. Chapter thanks you for the kind concerning our FReep in support of the Klamath Basin farmers.
...kind words...
Thanks!
I do so very little - The ones who really are great are Jeff Head and Clintons a liar. They seem to have unlimited energy resources. They amaze me.
IMHO, the flag of activism is a colorful tapestry that is woven with the patriotic deeds of many. The strength of the fabric is dependent upon the quality of the many threads that hold it together.
Those who hold it up for all to see are an important part of the picture as are the weavers. Those who from the fire of freedom tended within their hearts, shine light upon it as they enter dark recesses of ignorance, are an important part. Those who bear it to the gates of government are an important part. Those who salute it with daily ministrations to the details of the cause...the monitoring of legislation, research, articles, technical support are an important part. Those who answer the Calls To Action...the letters, emails, faxes, telephone calls, networking and creative outreach are an important part.
Every deed that is another thread in the out-picturing of activism is a great deed.
Thank you, Grandma C, for all that you do!
Thanks guys!
Thanks from all of us.
Thanks!
Thx. My dartboard needed a new target ;-).
BufordP - you are a dangerous man indeed - glad you are not a lib.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Amen and thanks!
You mentioned Clinton's A Liar's unlimited energy resources. Towards the end of yesterday's FReep CAL noticed a little girl who appeared to be lost (I think she is in the pic more-more-more - lower left corner). She indeed was, got separated from her parents. Well, CAL took the girl under her wing - informed the uniformed Secret Service guards and was with her until the frantic parents returned. Energy is one thing - compassion and caring is yet another. Actions like this are what FReepers are all about.
Wow!! This is GREAT! Pictures are wonderful!
I wish I could have been there.
A River Runs Through It
Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Alicia Acuna
Tome, NM — A look at the flowers and farms quickly proves that the lands around Tome, N.M. are in bloom.
But environmentalists wonder whether the greening of parts of the desert state is coming at the expense of nature, and now they are locked in a battle with farmers over the fate of the source of life in their area, their stretch of the Rio Grande.
"Agricultural interests divert 85 percent of the water," John Horning, of the Forest Guardians, said.
And that means there is less water for the Rio Grande silvery minnow, an endangered fish.
For farmer Ray Garcia, that’s not the only thing in danger.
"This is all endangered land," he said, standing among the green fields he relies on for his living.
The fish was once so abundant that it turned the river a silvery color, giving it its name. Now Horning and other environmental groups say the fish may die out because the water that it needs to live is being used to water crops.
Once the minnow coursed through 1,700 miles of the great river. Today, it can be found in only 70 miles of the Rio Grande.
"Our major fear is this, every other southwestern city has turned their river into a concrete ditch," Horning said. "What we are saying is that is the vision of the future that we don't want."
"The fate of the fish is inextricably linked to the fate of the river," he said.
The federal government agrees with Horning. It wants irrigators to take less water from the river so the fish will have more to live in.
But when the feds worked with state and local officials to come up with a compromise plan that would have created a habitat for the minnows without taking water rights from the farmers, the environmentalists blasted it as not going far enough.
"We feel like a compromise has been made for the last century and it's time to take a stand," Horning said.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service must first approve the plan. If it does, some environmentalists say they’ll be ready with a lawsuit.
The lawyer who represents the irrigation district of the middle Rio Grande Valley says the environmentalists are putting out a sham argument. What they want is to recreate an Eden that never really existed.
"Historically, the river was dryer than it is today," Chuck DuMars said. "They would like to see a wet river that replicates what they think happened before there were farmers, before there were dams."
And if that’s what Horning and the environmentalists want, they’re not going to get it without a fight, Garcia said.
"They can take it from us when they can pry it from our cold dead hands man, that's when they can have it," he said.
For now, spring runoffs have kept the river wet and swollen, but when the Rio Grande dries up, as it always does, the people of Tome can expect a deluge of legal action.
When you say it like that I say thank you. And thank you for all who participate in this.
I know she is great - She made me feel right at home when I met her in Southern California at the Rogan Rally. CAL Makes us proud to be a FReeper.
Any Freeps planned for the young firefighters who died for lack of water that just might have contained an endangered fish? Seems it's up to Freepers to educate the public these days. Thanks for doing the work of America.
Tom Craven, Karen Fitzpatrick, Jessica Johnson, and Devin Weaver were very much on our minds yesterday. The plight of these young American heros was conveyed to every single person in and around the NE gate of the White House. You could almost see the "lightbulb go on". This is why FReeps are so important - not everyone logs on to FreeRepublic.com - it takes face to face communication - a personal interaction that is lacking these days. That is how the average Joe gets energized. Many a tourist yesterday will return home with an understanding of the insane environmental madness that took the lives of these young firefighters.
Way to go DC FReepers!!!!!
Thanks for the report and the pics! BTTT
Without farmers we have nothing...
You got that right - thanks to you for the support and thanks to the farmers for supporting our great country by providing us with the our "life blood".
Thanks right back at you - support after a FReep goes a long way.
bump
I really like the term "Green Menace". It has possibilities for some sort of mascot against the enviro Nazis. Registered, here is a challenge for your genius.
Not a bad idea - how about a super hero - like the Green Hornet - Flight of the Bumble Bee could possibly be the "theme song".
Thanks for posting all the terrific pix. It was a good day !
Because I'm not an old-timer (in the FReeper family, at least) I was surprised to see the large numbers of folks who took the WH tour. Definitely more than I saw in the waning days of the criminal x42's reign.
Several people who I talked to asked what crops the farmers grew... I'm glad I had FR and Klamath links to educate myself in advance so that I had answers (unlike many lefty protesters at their high budget demonstrations).
I also explained to tourists that the farmers were many war vets who were lured to the area as homesteaders, that they were given deeds that guaranteed water rights in perpetuity, and said "that means forever, for the kids out there." Then Jimmy Valentine's brother chimed in "or for those of you from Rio Linda," and I think NoDems then added "and Palm Beach County."
It was definitely a fun day, but with a serious purpose. Many people learned about the plight of the Klamath Basin farmers, the unnecessary deaths of the four young firefighters, and the idiocy of the ESA as regards animal rights taking precedence over human rights.
I just heard that INTERIOR SECRETARY GALE NORTON IS GOING TO BE ON FOX NEWS SUNDAY It will be real interesting to see what she has to say.
I wasn't surprised that she had a whole lotta nuthin' to say. I had hoped for better.
Thanks for organizing this FReep... you put in lots of prep work, and it worked out to be a great success !
We need to take up a collection to get you some cushioned insoles for those "fish shoes" tho. ;-) They might work fine in your native habitat, but they can't have been too comfy on dry, hard blacktop.
Cool bumpersticker on the podmobile, BTW.
It is so uplifting to realize that folks thousands of miles away still feel a sense of kinship with the farmers in a small rural town and the disaster that has befallen them at the hands of the federal government. I guess there is still a "We the People."
I feel certain that you'd do the same for any of us, if the tables were turned. You're way out there, and trying to help one another as best you can, while also trying to get the public to hear your grievances against the government. It's the least I could do, to spend a part of just one day, to help publicize the lunacy of ESA enforcement in Klamath Basin (and elsewhere).
THNAK YOU from the bottom of my heart for what you did on saturday for us here in the basin.
God Bless America!
And Blessings upon the households of all FReepers. ...Thank you each and all for your amazing and inspiring dedication.
Wow!! This is GREAT! Pictures are wonderful! I wish I could have been there.
You would be great at organizing a FReep like this one in your own home State...take it right to the steps of the Capital! Lots of folks here would support you with suggestions and tips.
Blessings...True
HA HA! ;-)
Thanks again for being there. I prayed constantly for the well being of our D.C. freepers during all those horrible weekends when they were out there freeping at the White House during X42 years. That even one person would give up all those many hours for their country says a lot to me.
Thanks, and a return bump.
Excellent protest, petition signing, pictures, report.
Thank you each one - esp. for standing out there in that heat!!!
You guys/gals are THE BEST!
I prefer the term "envirofascist."
This is the most fantastic thing that anyone could have done! I am so excited that you guys protested! What great signs. Today, we are going to show "Human Crisis in the Klamath Basin" at our Patriot Newsman meeting. Our president has it arranged so that the video will be shown on channel 12 of our Cable network here. I guess channel 12 frequently shows Consitutional and educational programs. We are also meeting to discuss what can be done for the Klamath farmers, and I will distribute hard copies of the petition to members so they can bring them to a local store or business for signatures. Spunky & I plan on doing another petition drive at one of our Safeways, so that should bring in another 225 signatures. Actually, now w/ the firefighter tragedy, I hope more people will sign, and maybe we can exceed the 225 number. We also will be collecting donations to send to the farmers. God bless all those who are feeding the hungry in Klamath and not turning a blind eye to their situation.
You guys just make me proud to be an American. What can we say but "Thanks"!!!
Please excuse the delay in posting my expression of thanks for what you folks are doing for the people of the Klamath Basin...and Grampa Dave, thanks for reminding me to do the obvious, namely, forwarding this thread to the local web sites and media contacts. I will link the local web sites to this thread once the pictures are posted.
Once again DC FReepers, ....thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Great job! People need to know about this travesty. I would encourage everyone to saturate thier representatives and Senators in Congress with e-mail, letters, etc. I've written mine and am still waiting to see a reply. Your story reminds me of somehting that I encountered several years ago in California when talking to someone about the city setting aside space for the 'endangered' kangaroo rat (no kidding!). One person I spoke to said he had no problem if the city decided they needed to take his house for rat habitat. Sheesh! I'm convinced people have become completely stupid about most everything. That's what happens when you vegetate in front of the TV watching the major media news for so long. Keep up the good work!
