The long-secret case file concerning Al Gore Sr. links the late senator and father of the former vice president to communist operatives and shows his disdain for the FBI.
Former vice president Albert Gore Jr.ís expected political comeback may be rougher than he imagines. Heís fresh from a European sabbatical, but not only will he be battling a popular incumbent president, but he faces the wrath of many senior Democrats who blame him for losing the White House. Now come ghosts from his senator fatherís communist-linked past, buried deep within the elder Goreís long-secret FBI file.
Insight has obtained the raw FBI file of the late Albert Arnold Gore Sr. under the Freedom of Information Act. Goreís FBI case file, Nos. 94-37110 and 161-12825, contains 265 pages. Another 56 pages have been withheld for supposed national-security reasons and personnel rules. It took two years for the FBI to release the file, which Insight requested before the 2000 presidential campaign.
Insight also requested FBI electronic-surveillance tapes on the senior Gore, who died in 1998. The bureau claimed ìFBI Headquarters revealed no records responsiveî to the request ó a circumlocution, perhaps, to suggest the FBI never had the senator under surveillance despite his financial relationships and friendship with communist operatives known to have been under such surveillance themselves. Whether those tapes are buried in field offices to protect the younger Gore remains, for the moment, a matter of speculation.
What the Gore Sr. file does show is the bitter, hostile and rocky relationship he had with former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover from the 1940s until Hooverís death in 1972. Gore attacked Hooverís anticommunism and made himself a leading critic of the FBI director until losing his Senate seat in 1970 because of his outspoken opposition to the Vietnam War.
During a long political career Gore took every opportunity to attack Hoover, even advocating that the FBI and Secret Service be censured for ìfailure to exercise surveillance over the Dallas building from which President [John F.] Kennedy was shot.î Despite the attacks, Gore recommended 55 people for employment by the FBI, of whom Hoover hired four as clerks, three as agents and one as a press operator.
Little Albert briefly is mentioned in his fatherís FBI file as a curious 11-year-old who in 1957 requests and receives ìtwo souvenir targetsî as mementos of a private FBI tour. The FBI characterizes the elder Gore as ìone who harbors strong personal animosity toward the Bureau and is uninterested in facts,î and as ìno friend of the FBI and, in fact, appears to delight in jumping on the bandwagon when people attack us.î
Hoover regarded the senior Gore with such contempt, the file shows, that in 1954 he was placed on the ìnot to contactî list after Gore blasted FBI pursuit of Soviet espionage cases. Indeed the file raises serious questions about Goreís own ties, especially his relationship with the wealthy Soviet agent Armand Hammer, from whom Gore Sr. received large sums of money (see ìGore Family Ties,î May 22, 2000). It also contains new revelations linking Gore Sr. to Harry Dexter White, the deputy treasury secretary in the Roosevelt administration who repeatedly was identified under oath as a Soviet agent. White died of a heart attack in 1948, two days before he was to appear before a congressional committee to answer spy charges by former Communist couriers Whittaker Chambers and Elizabeth Bentley.
ìBureau files indicate that Senator Goreís bias against the FBI resulted from resentment over the Directorís testimony in the Harry Dexter White case,î the file says. ìGore has previously expressed his personal antipathy to the FBI and is regarded by many from his own state as being stupid and completely no good.î
Russian defector Igor Gouzenko since has fingered White as a spy, as did the Venona intercepts of Soviet dispatches that linked him to the code names Richard, Reed and Lawyer. These confirm that in 1945 White was providing a Soviet KGB officer with sensitive economic information. One of the intercepts established that the KGB even offered to pay the college tuition of Whiteís daughter when he complained that he might have to return to the private sector to pay her education bills. Coupled with the earlier sworn testimony, these revelations prompted former senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.) to declare without hesitation that White was a Soviet agent.
Yet the elder Gore was so outraged at Hooverís testimony about White before the Senate Internal Security subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee under Sen. William Jenner (R-Ind.) that he blasted the FBI in a closed-door meeting with G-men in 1954 for destroying White and libeling others. Previously released FBI memos reveal that Hoover regarded White as a ìnational-security risk.î Gore claimed the FBI ìoverstepped its boundaries on that caseî and called Hooverís bureau a ìsnooping police agencyî that ìsmeared innocent peopleî with ìguilt by association.î At the same time, Gore bragged about attending school in Baltimore with a special agent to whom Gore said he wanted the FBI to relay his frustration.
Hoover responded to a memo about this: ìI see no reason to further contact Senator Gore. Also our offices in Tenn. should be briefed on Goreís attitude. Goreís name should be placed on list not to be approached at any time. H.î In 1954, Hooverís agents characterized Gore as one who made ìwild accusations and lies.î In fact, the file indicates that Goreís so-called school buddy in Baltimore said he had never met Gore.
For whatever reason, Gore nonetheless requested the names of ìknown communistsî in Memphis shortly after the arrest of Junius Scales, the first person convicted under the Smith Act for a being a member of the Communist Party and conspiring to overthrow the U.S. government by force and violence. The FBI declined to provide Gore with the list.
The FBI did review an assassination threat on Goreís life in 1968, when someone wrote a letter to Fate Magazine in Highland Park, Ill., claiming Gore was next on a list of those to be shot. Hoover concluded the writer must be a mental patient, and no further action was taken.
Missing from the Gore file is anything about his well-documented financial and political ties to his benefactor Hammer. In Hammerís massive 658-page FBI file, No. 61-280, dating back to 1921 and now available at www.fbi.gov, Gore shows up as a close friend of the longtime Communist agent.
In the heavily redacted Gore file, Hammer appears only as having been given as a character reference for Gore when the former Tennessee senator sought a White House appointment from Jimmy Carter five years after Hooverís death. Hammer then was Goreís employer. While he was not directly interviewed, Hammer associates assured investigators that their boss had ìgreat respectî for the senator, as did 56 other witnesses, consisting of supervisors, coworkers, friends and assorted congressmen. All recommended Gore except one anonymous source, who called him ìdogmaticî and said he ìrefused to hear all sides of the issues.î Whatever else was in the Gore file is not known. He was vetted for the job but didnít get it after the security file reached the White House.
Perhaps also redacted from the Gore file are the facts that Hoover launched three unsuccessful espionage investigations against Gore employer Hammer ó who claimed to have the Tennessee senator in his back pocket ó along with a series of money-laundering probes and campaign-contribution violations.
Hammerís FBI file shows that Hoover was not fooled. ìAre we keeping a line on Hammer? I know he was no good in 1919 when [Ludwig] Martens was here,î Hoover wrote to agents in 1951. Martens was one of Vladimir Leninís top agents in the United States along with Hammerís father, Julius, who owned Allied Drug and Chemical, a provider of skin creams and herbal medicines. The business was used to launder sales proceeds of smuggled Soviet diamonds to finance the founding of the American Communist Party.
Martens was expelled and the senior Hammer was sent to Sing Sing Prison for committing a botched abortion that his medical-student son may have performed. Armand Hammer thereupon liquidated his fatherís holdings, turned them into emergency goods and took these to Moscow, where he went to work for the founder of the KGB.
It wasnít until long after Armand Hammer died, in 1990, that Edward Jay Epsteinís book Dossier: The Secret History of Armand Hammer unveiled evidence from KGB files that Hammer was a Soviet agent. The Kremlin papers show he was a lifelong agent of influence for the U.S.S.R. and a close confidant of every Soviet leader from Lenin to Mikhail Gorbachev.
The Gore file contains little of the Hammer link, although it does mention that Hammer gave Gore his break by getting him involved in the cattle-breeding business in 1950. This was a reputed hustle where funds were laundered to Gore by cattle sales for which the animals never were delivered. That ìbusinessî helped finance Goreís residence in the plush Washington Fairfax Hotel. It and other such ventures sent future presidential candidate Al Gore Jr. to the elite St. Albans private school and to Harvard University.
The Gore file also strangely excludes mention of the fact that, when Gore retired, Hammer made him president of a coal-exploitation venture that provided the Gores with more than $500,000 a year. Was it a payoff? The answer might be found in the 56 pages the FBI refused to release.
DemocRats love communist and moderates don't know any better.
Who wants to bet that the Hilldebeast has the missing FBI files and that they will suddenly appear in time to sink yet another rival between her and the nomination.
Why do I have the feeling someone leaked this Gore Sr. file to Insight...
Think maybe Hillary is trying to take out Gore now??......thru his father??
"Think maybe Hillary is trying to take out Gore now??......thru his father??"
Who knows. It is kind of strange that every viable candidate other than Hillary is seeing baggage leak out. Kerry's Vietnam scandal popped up shortly after the rumor mill had him considering a run in 2004. Gray Davis seems to have taken himself out of the picture. Edwards from NC so far hasn't been touched but it will be interesting to see if that lasts.
God help the country if that witch gets her hands on the reigns again.
Might be a good time to take out some life insurance on D'ashole.

Gore bragged about attending school in Baltimore with a special agent to whom Gore said he wanted the FBI to relay his frustration. ….Gore's so-called school buddy in Baltimore said he had never met Gore.
Love Story Jr. just like Dad. I wonder if the genome project will find the Gore gene for lying.
This was a reputed hustle where funds were laundered to Gore by cattle sales for which the animals never were delivered.
I see Hillary, who leaked this story, forgot to redact this section which seems was the standard Democratic/Communist money laundering scheme. Cattle sales, cattle futures.
Al Gore Sr was a backwoods Baptist preacher when he was co opted and sponsored by Armand Hammer. Al Gore Sr was an invention of Armand Hammer. The family still receives an annual payment from Armand Hammers conglomeration for the zinc mine on the family ranch.
Armand Hammer was the personal guest of Junior Senator Al Gore Jr to Jimmy Carters inaguration.
Gore is a Communist, period. Of course the press never brought any of this out at any time during the Clinton Gore reign.
Hitlery knows where all of Al's bodies are buried and you can bet she is behind revealing these and many others.
Does anyone think the FBI files that the Clintons stole just dissappeared? They are still in daily use by the Clintons, now primarily to Hitlery's advantage, of course.
Whoa!
Gotta bookmark this one for later. Thanks, Doggie!
Think maybe Hillary is trying to take out Gore now??......thru his father??
If it were Hillary, I believe she would have held the cards a bit longer.
Who would need to take out Gore in order to face The Hilly?
HOOOOOboy !!
Edwards from NC so far hasn't been touched but it will be interesting to see if that lasts.
Hill can't take Edwards out yet. He's one of the few "untainted" money raisers they have. Most Dems with brains won't give as much as to say, Gore because even they realize it's throwing money down a hole. Hill has her own problems with fundraising as she has to pimp for money for her campaign, her legal defense fund, and other Dem candidates in that order. Soon even the most rabid Dem supporters will ask themselves " does this witch want all of my money? How much is enough with her?". They will then look elsewhere for places to send their poly-dollars, say to Sharpton, Nader, or some other lib without a prayer of winning. Great news for the good guys.
Can you imagine -- Hillary as president and Bill as Secretary General of the UN? What a nightmare that would be.
Carolyn
Hitlery knows where all of Al's bodies are buried and you can bet she is behind revealing these and many others.
I don't think so. Hillary's more patient than that, and it's of no particular advantage for her to put this particular stake through Al Gore's heart right now. There are at least two other possible candidates with intelligence community connections who could particularly profit by having Gore well out of the way by the time the next search for a Democratic presidential candidate rolls around, and one who desperately needs to have something, anything get his own name out of the news for a while.

"[Ludwig] Martens was here,î Hoover wrote to agents in 1951. Martens was one of Vladimir Leninís top agents in the United States along with Hammerís father, Julius... "
Martens? Hmmm, Martens. Wasn't Daniel Martens a partner of Harry Thomason (husband of Linda Bloodworth Thomason), Clinton's Arkansas/Hollywood buddy? They (Martens and Thomason) had some air transport company which was supposed to get the contract from the White House travel office after the ignominious firing of Billy Dale and others from the travel office. I can't remember exactly what it was, but there was something definitely shady about Martens.
Not a common spelling for that name.
You said it. It's still hard to imagine, but I think the biggest mistake lies in under estimating Hillary.
Fortunately, the Dems are making the same mistake with the sitting President. Hope they keep it up.
Works for me! This summer my youngest daughter and I drove I-40 through TN and the sign for Carthage, TN, says home of Senator Albert Gore, Sr. -- no mention of Junior. Maybe they should just delete the sign all together.
My money is on a ms. clinton leak to the press! The RATS don't want gore around!
I hope you are right. I find the prospect of a Sharpton candidacy very promising, particularly if he threatens to run as an independent. Smart for him because the Dems will either:
a)Pay him off to not run or drop out (likely)
b)Get beaten for sure in 2004 with a significant chunk of black votes siphoned off. (less likely due to the threat it represents to the Dems)
Either way, Sharpton wins. If he runs independent, then the Dems will have to stop taking the black vote for granted and will have to kiss his ring in the future.
Of course I forgot about option C: Arkancide
Just what I was thinking. hillary has got to love this information being out.

Not a common spelling for that name.
Almost. That's Darnell Martens. That last name spelling is more common around Dutch/Hollanders and in Belgium than the more usual *Martins* spelling in the US, but there were undoubtedly a great number of WWII-era relocations and resettlements, as well as other immigration of the name.
That's an interesting commonality, though, and one worth checking out- and thanks.

Looks like they sanitized lots of the good stuff in the name of 'national security'.
Hitlary needs to stop Al Gore from running. If Gore should be come President just immagine what he could do to the Clintons. Hitlary plans on running so she must stop Gore in his tracks or her run will be nothing more than a joke.
Gore had his chance to take Clinton out and he could have walked right into the Presidency but he sat back and kept his mouth shut. If Al Gore was an honorable man he would have come clean during the impeachment trial and had the CLintons removed but didn't. Gore is nothing more than a trader to this country and the American people. Hitlary may have Gore's FBI files but Gore also knows far to much on the Clintons. Hitlary can't afford to allow Gore to run against her. Gore won't go against Hitlary because he wouldn't live long enough to open his mouth, nor would his family.
thanx fred
Al Sharpton isn't really going to run; he is just trying to do what Jesse did and threaten to siphon off votes from other Democratic candidates. He is trying to take Jesse's place, and become more of a player in the Democratic Party. We could only wish that he actually ends up running and siphoning off all those "stolen" votes that Hillary might otherwise receive.
Thanks for the post!

So, Gore Sr. didn't trust the FBI, eh?
Ahead of his time, perhaps?
Looks like they sanitized lots of the good stuff in the name of 'national security'
"They" presumably being the intelligence community. I don't think a Hillary source would leak to Insight magazine, owned by the Washington Times.
But posters here intimating that Hillary is aware, through the FBI files, of the deleted stuff are no doubt correct.
Lousy OCR software. You will notice that apostrophies came out as "i", example, Gore's came out as Goreis.

The New York Times is releasing a article tomorrow which says exactly the opposite that this article says. I just read part of it on Lucianne and they are saying Hoover had it in for Gore because of a rumor of some woman bonking some guy. I really did not read the whole article, but they made Gore out to be a good guy and Hoover a wacko.
Little Albert briefly is mentioned in his fatherís FBI file as a curious 11-year-old who in 1957 requests and receives ìtwo souvenir targetsî as mementos of a private FBI tour.
This ruins Al Jr.'s candidacy. Not only was he once against abortion, but also, as a child, he actually didn't think the use of firearms was inherently evil. How unDemocratic.
If Gore Sr. liked Armand Hammer and Harry Dexter White, little more needs to be said about him. They were traitors, it is that simple, and only the simple don't know it.
On the other hand, I don't trust J. Edgar and his crew much more than I turst the Communists. I remember that the great leader Hoover didn't believe in the mafia for decades and decades. I can't believe he was that stupid. And, the FBI certainly helped cover-up the betrayal of many thousands of Amrican servicemen who were abandoned alive in Communist captivity. But, what would we expect from the FBI anyway?

What's somewhat remarkable is that I read all this, and much more, eight years ago in the New American, that publication from the tinfoil hats in the whacko JBS that many around here love to vilify for the off-the-wall, unsubstantiated theories and socio-political rumor mongering. If memory serves me well, they even had a photograph of Al Gore Sr. in a chase, along with the then teen-age Gore Jr., lounging with Hammar at his swimming pool. Ain't that a hoot?

Yup C. this is kinda old news but as usual the mid stream media has not (and will not) tell the truth about "Mr. Woody" As for being old news this is a bit I had on my old website about 2 1/2 years ago, and it was old news then. I don't think I had anything that went back 8 years though...

===========================
Al Gore, he's a real nowhere man.
Al Gore as the father of the Internet?
CNN's Wolf Blitzer interviewed Mr. Personality March 9th.
Blitzer asked Gore how he was different than other Democratic presidential candidates,
such as Bill Bradley. "What do you have to bring to this that he doesn't necessarily
bring to this process?"
1
Replied Gore: "I'll be offering my vision when my campaign begins, and it'll be
comprehensive and sweeping, and I hope that it'll be compelling enough to draw people
toward it.... I've traveled to every
part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United
States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."
Huh? Get the feeling we have been here before?
ARPANET design began in 1967, requests for proposals went out the following year. In 1969,
the Defense Department commissioned the ARPANET. Gore was at Vanderbilt U. and eight
years away from even a sniff of the House of Representatives.
So much for Uncle Al's credibility. More Gore..
Gore has taken credit for popularizing the term "information
superhighway" and around 1991 penned related articles for publications such as Byte
magazine. But the term "data highway" has been used
as far back as 1975, before Gore entered Congress.
"Gore played no positive role in the decisions that led to the
creation of the Internet as it now exists -- that is, in the opening of the Internet to
commercial traffic," said Steve Allen, vice president for communications at the
conservative Progress and Freedom Foundation.
Since 1993, Gore has taken pride in personally announcing new technology initiatives such
as Internet II funding. Doesn't do a damn thing, but he sure is proud of
"his" work. At one recent White House event, Gore introduced Cisco Systems
CEO John Chambers, who he had met with privately earlier that day. Gore told the
audience how much he valued Chambers and one of the products Cisco produced. But he
mispronounced "routers" as root-ers.
Maybe he was thinking potatoes?
He also took the lead in supporting the Clipper Chip. We all know how wildly popular
that is. Sure, give the government 100% access to all email. They won't abuse
it, right? Fat chance.
So far we have just peeked in the keyhole. Let's crack the door.
Continuing with the interview....
2
GORE: Well, what will decide the outcome of the presidential contest in the year 2000 will
not be public opinion polls but the power of ideas, the quality of leadership, the
compelling vision that I will offer for the American people, and how they respond to it. It
won't be decided by public opinion polls.
The polls were all these clowns quoted for the past year! Kinda like the mantra that was chanted over and over about the American people being sick and tired of the impeachment proceedings. Yea, except for the seventy MILLION viewers that watched the Monica/Walters interview, making it the biggest TV event in history. Apparently the American people are not all that sick and tired after all. Maybe they are kinda pissed that Klinton got to walk out of the deal. Scot-free.
Further into the interview..
3
GORE: Well, look at what this administration has done. We went from the largest budget
deficit in history to the largest budget surplus in history. We went from a period of high
unemployment and high inflation to high employment and historically low unemployment, and
virtually zero inflation. The last economic report came out was six percent growth and
virtually zero inflation; 18 million new jobs; improved reading-test scores for our
children; a six-year drop in the crime rate, continuing to decline; a cleaner environment;
a new feeling on the part of all of our people that we do have the capacity to make our
democracy work for our future and to solve our problems.
Wow, what is next, walking on water? And by the way Al, it's a REPUBLIC, not a democracy.
The Klinton administration is not responsible for any of that, sound Republican policy making is. All these changes were planned and administrative ground work laid out, initiated and was working long before bubba went to the big city. If one were to actually check those pesky facts one would discover that the current period of economic growth has been occurring for 96 consecutive months. It doesn't take a math whiz to divide 96 by 12. Big bubba was still parking the Plymouth in Hooterville when the economy took off. But as usual what ever turns out well, they will take credit for it. If nothing is currently doing well enough to brag about, Willie-Jeff tosses a rock in the pond to make a splash. Examples..
6
(Al Gore speaking)
Let me draw a comparison to what we did in fighting crime. We said we need more community
police officers. And so we finally convinced the Congress to pass a law that hired 100,000
new community police officers, greatly expanded the size of the force around the country,
and then deployed them on the sidewalks, not in squad cars, where they could develop
one-on-one relationships. What's happened as a result? The crime rate has dropped in every
category for six years in a row.
Hold the phone. That's NOT what happened. First, congress didn't pass such a law, it allocated TAXPAYER dollars for that purpose. Go back to an archived copy of that event and do the math. Total number of dollars allocated, divided by the proposed number of police officers. Comes to about $10,000 each. That didn't do squat. Plus, it's a one time event, NOT every year. So what about the dropping crime rate? The Federal Reserve Bank has been lowering the interest rate for the past six years, creating a better business environment thus producing more jobs. More jobs = lower crime rate. But that is just too simple to be good political P.R. No big splash. Better to throw one rock in the pond, snap a photo and wave it around for six years. I guess the picture is starting to fade because they are going to try it again...
(Al Gore)
We know how to solve this problem; in the same way we know how to bring about improvement
in our schools. Let's hire 100,000 new teachers, give them the training they need, and
reduce the class size in the early grades. That's the amendment that's pending. Senator
Murray and Senator Kennedy are pushing it forward. The Republican leaders are trying to
block it.
Great, here we go again. Blah, blah, blah, yak, yak, and oh yea, the nasty Republicans are stealing your children's education. I'm sick of hearing Gore drone on with meaningless prattle specifically written to sound great and mean nothing, so I did a little checking on their wondrous and magical knowledge of the "problem" and the validity of their solution. Here is what I found.
On July 17, 1998 the Subcommittee on Oversight and
Investigations of the Committee on Education
and the Workforce in the United States House of Representatives adopted the report
Education at a
Crossroads: What Works and Whats Wasted in Education Today by a vote of 5 - 2.
(This
information and the executive summary may be accessed on the Internet via
http://www.house.gov/eeo/oversight/crossroads.htm.)
The Executive Summary stated, among other
things:
Americas educational system is at a crossroads. Down one path can be found the
many successful
schools and systems that have emerged from the crisis of the 1980s to become shining
examples of
educational excellence. Down the other path are schools that are mired in failure or that
have
implemented erroneous reforms, succeeding only in worsening their already dismal
performances. At
the intersection of these two paths are the vast majority of Americas schools
stagnating in
mediocrity at the crossroads of excellence and failure.
The effectiveness of these [federal education] programs is seldom measured, even as
the problems
continue to mount. Evaluations of federal programs almost always measure process, not
whether or
not they help children learn. For example, the largest education program for
disadvantaged children
has spent more than $100 billion over 30 years while producing hardly any evidence of
positive,
lasting results. Congress must ensure that such wasteful use of tax dollars is stopped.
It is time for the burden of proof to shift to the federal government. If it
cannot be demonstrated that
a particular federal program is more effectively spending funds than state and local
communities would
otherwise spend them, Congress should return the money to the states and the people,
without any
burdensome strings attached. This Subcommittee has found little evidence proving the
effectiveness of
federal programs, or that federal programs are more effective than local efforts.
Those interested in home schooling may find it intriguing that while
federal, state, and local
professional educators and government servants continue to look for ways to improve public
schooling with large quantities of tax dollars and a myriad of educational programs,
1,200,000 to
1,600,000 million students in grades K to 12 and their parents are currently experiencing
great
learning success and joy in parent-guided, home-based education that most
people call home
schooling (or homeschooling). These children, from a wide variety of socioeconomic,
cultural, and
religious backgrounds, typically score at the 65th to 80th percentile on academic
achievement tests
while the public school average is the 50th percentile. And they are doing well in college
and adult life.
Many research studies (including the nationwide study Strengths of Their Own--Home
Schooler
Across America by Dr. Brian D. Ray) have found that home schooling is
successful regardless,
basically, of the familys income, the formal education level of the parents, whether
the parents have
ever been certified teachers, and the degree of regulation by the state government. These
prarents and
children are also successful without receiving tax funding of these childrens
education and without the
federal governments involvement. (rev. Dec. 3, 1998)
"For example, the largest education program for disadvantaged children has spent more than $100 billion over 30 years while producing hardly any evidence of positive, lasting results."
"Homeschooling."
"Congress should return the money to the states and the people"
"home-based education... typically score at the 65th to 80th percentile on academic achievement tests while the public school average is the 50th percentile"
Tap dance around that, Al. It gets worse.

BLITZER: But there are some philosophical differences. On the education
issue, the Republicans want local communities to be in control. They accuse
the Democrats and you of wanting the federal government in Washington to
dictate ...
GORE: No, no.
BLITZER: ... to local school districts the kind of education policy they
should be using.
GORE: No, no. We want ...
BLITZER: And there's a deadlock today in the Senate on this specific issue.
Don't want to control education, eh?

GORE: We want accountability, and we want to measure the results so that we are moving in
the right direction. And let's take that amendment that is pending today. We know how to
improve our schools. The single most important thing we can do is to have fewer students
in each classroom, more well-trained teachers, so that each teacher will have more time to
spend individually with each student.
Ok, fewer students in the classroom is your answer? Great, don't spend more of OUR money, just encourage more homeschooling!
Pushing on to China..
BLITZER: Let's move on to a key international issue on your agenda today,
namely the situation with China. China's been accused of human rights
abuses. It's been accused of engaging in unfair trade practices, a record
trade deficit with the United States. It has made bellicose statements against
Taiwan in recent days, threatening Taiwan. And now there are allegations
that the Clinton administration under your watch, that the administration was
negligent in dealing with an allegation of espionage of nuclear secrets at the
Los Alamos nuclear facility, research facility.
Do you continue to engage in your policy, as you call it, "constructive
engagement" with China, in the midst of all of these allegations?

GORE: Well, first of all on the law enforcement matter that you raise, please
keep in mind, that happened during the previous administration. That
happened back in the 1980s. And as soon as the investigation identified
targets of that investigation, then the law enforcement community handled
that very aggressively, and it resulted in a presidential directive that
completely changed the security procedures in the weapons labs. And as far
as the law enforcement aspects of that are concerned, you have to go to the
appropriate agencies.
BLITZER: But you heard Senator Lott and Senator Shelby say over the
weekend that this administration was negligent...
GORE: Well...
BLITZER: ... was lax in dealing with the threat that some people thought
really existed at that time because of the overall need to engage China.
GORE: Again, this happened in the previous administration, and the law
enforcement agencies have pressed it and pursued it aggressively with our
full support. And in the course of this, what developed was a brand new
presidential directive that fixed problems that we had inherited and changed
and vastly improved the security procedures in the national laboratory
system.
Really? Wow! You guys did all that? And it was a previous administration? Whew.. that was close, right?
WRONG AGAIN
The New York Times, elaborating on earlier stories in The
Wall
Street Journal and The Washington Post, gave front-page play to a bombshell.
In April 1996, Energy Department officials informed Samuel Berger, then
Clinton's deputy national security adviser, that Notra Trulock, the department's
chief of intelligence, had uncovered evidence that showed China had learned
how to miniaturize nuclear bombs -- allowing for smaller, more lethal warheads.
And it appeared that the Chinese had gained that knowledge through the
decade-long work of a spy at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Berger was told the spy might be still in place. The White House took no action.
In April 1997, the FBI recommended measures to tighten security at the
laboratories. No action. In July 1997, Trulock and other Energy Department
officials gave Berger a fuller briefing, and Berger in turn briefed Clinton.
But Trulock's warning came at an awkward time. The administration was on the
verge of the 1997 "strategic partnership" summit with Beijing. It was also
facing
congressional investigations into charges that the People's Republic had illegally
funneled money into the Clinton-Gore 1996 campaign. Very awkward.
So, Berger buried the mess. He assigned National Security staffer Gary
Samore
to look into things, and Samore asked the CIA to come up with a theory of the
case other than Trulock's, and the CIA dutifully reported that Trulock's analysis
was an unsupported "worst-case" scenario, and Samore dutifully told Berger
that no one could really say where the truth lay.
The suspected spy beavered on at Los Alamos. Leisurely, the security council
prepared a new plan to tighten security at the labs. Leisurely, in February 1998,
Clinton ordered the reforms into effect. Curiously, Energy Secretary Federico
Pena never followed the order. The reforms were not instituted until Bill
Richardson, Pena's successor, did so in October 1998 -- 30 months after
Trulock's first warning, 18 months after the full alarm, nine months after Clinton's
directive.
In the meantime, the administration did everything it could to hide the truth. The
Times reports that the House Intelligence Committee asked Trulock for a
briefing in July 1998. Trulock asked for permission from Elizabeth Moler, then
acting energy secretary. According to Trulock, Moler told him not to brief the
committee because the information might be used against Clinton's China policy.
The White House's awkward secret would have remained secret had it not been
for a select investigative committee headed by Republican Rep. Christopher
Cox. Cox's committee unearthed a decades-long pattern of Chinese nuclear
spying, including the Los Alamos case. The secret leaked. On March 8,
Richardson fired Wen Ho Lee, the suspected spy at Los Alamos.
One day, Taipei and Washington will awake to a few simple questions:
Would the people of Taiwan care to peacefully rejoin the People's
Republic of China? Or would they prefer to stand under a rain of nuclear
missiles? And would the people of the United States care to go to war
over this? Bill Clinton will owe for his part in making that day come.
For non-commerical, fair use only.
Well lets see, how did the interview go?
China.. Wrong ideas.
Education.. Wrong ideas.
Crime.. Wrong ideas.
Economic policy.. Wrong ideas.
Opinion polls.. Wrong ideas.
Clipper chip.. Extremely wrong idea.
Created Internet.. Gee Al, thats just a plain `ol lie.
0 - 7. Not a good score. But then again, it IS Al Gore. Mr. Wrong Answer. But there is something more and one has to dig a little deeper than the "beginning" back in the 1992 election. And once you find it, it's chilling. I'm talking downright scary. It is the ultimate wrong answer.
The following are excerpts from a reprint of an article by Michael A. Hoffman II regarding one of the top Communist operatives that were in close association with our man Gore since Al had his training wheels bolted on, literally.
(Yea, I know this is a long one, but the end is worth it.)
Back in 1952 J. Edgar Hoover examined a top secret dossier, File 61-280. It was sub-headed. "Hammer. Internal Security) Russia."
This file contained documentation on the 54 year old Communist financier Armand Hammer. According to the FBI's own intelligence analysis of Hammer's business dealings. "...much of the money was disbursed to the Soviet underground in America." The FBI had also documented that Hammer "...had been in the 1920s a key link in a network that provided money to (Soviet) espionage rings in New York and London."
In fact. Hoover had known for 29 years that Armand Hammer was a Communist. A spy and the chief money launderer in the U.S. for Soviet dictator Vladimir Lenin, via Hammer's Allied American company (which had three Moscow-appointed directors on it's board).
For these services Hammer was to be the only American businessman to receive the Soviet Union's Order of Lenin.
He had named his son Armand after the arm and hammer symbol of the militant Socialist Labor Party. The precursor of the Communist Party, which Armand had joined at age 16. Armand Hammer was the personification of Communism. He was the deepest hue of Red of any prominent American in our nation's history.
Now under pressure from Senator Joseph McCarthy to furnish evidence for a Senate investigation of both Hammer and his front man in Congress, Rep. Albert Gore Sr.
Hoover was confronted with a dilemma that went straight to the heart of the most sensitive documentation in Hammer's entire FBI file. Communism's Teflon Kingpin Hoover recognized that Hammer's record as an elite member of the Soviet Communist nomenklatura was indisputable. yet even during the height of the "dreaded McCarthy era." Hoover refused to provide evidence against Hammer, or even to prevent Hammer from acquiring lucrative U.S. government contracts and concessions. The most Hoover would do was to arrange a kid-glove interview between Hammer and FBI agents in New York, from which Hammer emerged unscathed. What had constrained Hoover? In its deepest recesses, file 61-280 had contained the following intelligence: Hammer "...had helped recruit Soviet spies and position them in the U.S. government.&
PART TWO.... These included "...members of Congress, White House aides and political bosses..." Hoover understood that McCarthy was too late. The U.S. government was already heavily influenced and in certain cases, even controlled by Communist agents. Hoover penned a handwritten note across Hammer's file, "Has political support" and closed it. It would never be opened again for purposes of criminal investigation in the course of Hammer's long life (Hammer died Dec. 10. 1990). In fact. Hammer would go on to become the confidant of such supposedly "stalwart commie-fighters" as Richard Nixon (for whom he made Watergate payoffs) and Ronald Reagan (Hammer facilitated the latter's Gorbachev connection). The union of Communism and Capitalism, October 1998 reached its zenith in the career of Armand Hammer.
"Hammer had demonstrated, as Hoover had handwritten in his file, that he had political support...Hoover, who had survived in Washington for three decades because he understood the reality of power, had no interest in challenging this Congressional phalanx. He decided to take no action. Hammer had effectively stalemated him."
In 1961 when FBI Counterintelligence Director Walter Sullivan proposed an investigation into the Communist connections of Hammer and Gore, Hoover again refused. Sullivan was subsequently shot to death. CIA chief James Angleton also shielded Hammer, even after Hammer had been fingered by Soviet defector Anatoly Golitsyn Golitsyn as the Soviets"' Capitalist Prince".The FBI may even have been allied to Hammer. Hoover's Special Agent Edmund Birch became chief of security for Hammer in 1975. Moreover. the State Department had been assisting the Communist Hammer family since 1921.
Hammer's remarkable "Teflon" quality extended both to his father and son. Even though his father had been convicted of murdering a woman, Marie Oganesoff, during a botched abortion on July 5, 1919, his father's medical license was restored in 1943, despite the fact that this occurred during an era when abortion was considered a heinous crime. Hammer's son, Julian, was also a killer, having shot to death an unarmed associate, Bruce Whitlock, in 1955. All charges against the younger Hammer were dropped on a technicality. Julian's defense was argued by attorneys from Mitchell, Silverberg and Knupp, a high-powered Los Angeles law firm with a reputation for its connections to the California political establishment.
KGB Asset Albert Gore Sr.
Among Hammer's "Congressional phalanx" were politicians he had bribed but did not include within his inner circle, such as Senators Owen Brewster of Maine and Styles Bridges of New Hampshire and Rep. Emmanuel Celler of New York. Closest to Hammer and participating in his sensitive Soviet network, was his "principal contact" in Congress, Rep. Albert Gore Sr. (D-Tennessee). In exchange for his influence, by as early as 1950 Hammer had given Gore Sr. a 50% ownership in a multi-million dollar Angus cattle-breeding business.
As Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, one of the most powerful posts in the legislative branch of the Federal government, Sen. Al Gore Sr. promoted a billion dollar resource development plan centering on the construction of fertilizer plants for the benefit of the U. S. S.R. agrichemicals division of Hammer's Occidental Oil. The business deal Gore advanced had not emanated from Hammer however, but directly from Hammer's boss in the Kremlin. the "Butcher of Ukraine", Nikita Khrushchev. Sen. Gore defended Hammer on the floor of the U. S. Senate against accusations of attempted bribery. He routinely interceded with President Kennedy on behalf of the Soviets and Hammer. Before he became president, John F. Kennedy had been a close colleague of Gore's in the Senate.
Some of Hammer's trips to Moscow were arranged by Sen. Gore Sr. under the sponsorship of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. The Soviet leadership could never have directed its policy in America to the extent that it did, without the crucial assistance and cover Gore provided to their man Hammer. Time and again Gore Sr. was instrumental in promoting the Soviet agenda through Hammer's network, which was essentially organized via the KGB. according to former Occidental Oil director Carl Blumay.
Gore, Hammer and Gndhafi
Gore Sr. played a major part in subverting the pro-Western monarchy of Libya and installing the regime of Muammar Gadhafi. The elder Gore had helped establish Occidental Oil's concession in pre-revolutionary Libya in the first place. The Soviets sought to drive a wedge throughout the Middle East between the pro-American Arabs and Aramco, the consortium which represented the major U.S. oil companies known as the "Seven Sisters. "Moreover Aramco over the years had not exactly been friendly to Zionist interests. Hammer and Gore shattered Aramco's dominance with their deal with Libya, but a bribe that Hammer was forced to pay to Libyan officials was too exorbitant. It had been calculated against the total value of the oil, instead of the net proceeds. After Gadhafi came to power and overthrew Hammer's old partners in Tripoli, Hammer negotiated exactly the deal the Soviets had plotted, a scheme which destroyed American control over Arab oil throughout the Middle East and which eventually resulted in a dramatic rise in world oil prices. Gadhafi nationalized all foreign oil companies in Libya, but paid compensation to only one: Armand Hammer's Occidental Oil Corporation. Qadhafi deposited $136 million in Hammer's Occidental account and Hammer obtained additional compensation from the U.S.S.R. Next, Hammer arranged a liaison between Col. Gadhafi and Markus Wolf. yet another son of a Jewish Communist doctor. The aptly-named Wolf directed East Germany's Stasi secret police. With Wolf's assistance, Gadhafi was able to foil a 1974 coup attempt led by Omar Shelhi. the former Libyan of official to whom Hammer owed millions of dollars in bribes. Thanks to Hammer. the East German Communists also commenced arms shipments to Gadhafi and provided training to Gadhafi's security forces.
There was one other deal with Gadhafi. 22 years before Al Gore Jr. would become Vlce-President of the U.S.. Al Gore Sr. became Vice President of Occidental Oil Corporation. His role in Muammar Gadhafi's Communist-backed oil revolution had been significant. Hammer also appointed Gore Sr. chairman of Island Creek Coal. the third largest coal producer in the U.S. As Occidental's Vice-President. Gore Sr. helped to cheat shareholders out of millions of dollars, money that was diverted into a fund to construct the Armand Hammer Art Museum in Los Angeles.
Some would say that the Vice-Presidency of the U.S. could not have been achieved by Al Gore Jr. had it not been for the Vice-Presidency of Occidental Oil achieved by Al Gore Sr.
Learning Lenin's Iron Law of Conspiracy
Bill Clinton's Vice-President was practically raised by Armand Hammer. Hammer was a surrogate father to Gore Jr. from his birth in 1948. Gore's father "...was a business associate of Hammer basically for almost his entire life." From his youth. Al Gore Jr. was as taught the iron law of government conspiracy: What Hammer really brought back from Russia was his education. That what made him a wealthy man. And...his education in Russia wasn't an education in literature or mathematics, it was an education in bribery...in blackmail and basically how to approach a government figure and get him to give you a concession.
Long before he reached the White House. Al Gore Jr. had become Hammer's partner in subversion, just as his father had. Opening doors and arranging contracts from his position as a member of the Senate Services Armed Services Committee. Congressional investigators have since discovered how well Vice-President Al Gore Jr. Iearned the lessons taught him by his Communist godfather. We now know that in 1996 Gore Jr. peddled White House influence to the Chinese Communists, in return for cash, making contact with Armand Hammer's old allies in the highest echelon of the Chinese Communist Party. Since the junior Gore, a democrat, effected a conservative stance on certain moral issues (such as rock music and abortion). he was able to open doors for Hammer even in Republican circles, in addition to other Soviet moles in the Reagan and Bush administrations who served the same purpose.
Operation "Elders of Zion"
With the Soviet Union collapsing in the 1980s, the KGB was no longer funneling millions of dollars to the special Swiss Bank account the Communists had established years before to payoff Al Gore Sr. and Hammer (this had been known as the "Graziosa account"). Hence, toward the end of his life, Hammer launched his last major covert operation of which researchers are aware. It was code-named "Elders of Zion. " This was a Jews-only enterprise. The principals were Hammer, Saul Eisenberg Albert Reichmann, Robert Maxwell and. strangely enough. Senator Albert Gore Jr., who is officially described by the establishment media as a Gentile. Why would a supposed Gentile be included in the "Elders of Zion" operation which was intended to be directed only by Jews?
During Clinton's first presidential campaign. a small circulation right wing magazine reported that Al Gore Jr. was of Sephardic Jewish descent. If this information is correct, might this be the factor which motivated certain forces within American Jewry to orchestrate the Monica Lewinsky scandal, which almost toppled Clinton's presidency in January of 1998? The "Elders of Zion" operation ostensibly involved a secret deal between Russia. the U. S. and Israel which promised to make Israel a major international aircraft manufacturer. However. evidence indicates that "Elders of Zion" also involved a campaign to coverup Jewish involvement in Soviet Communism: to transform the pivotal role Jewish Communists had played as leaders in the Bolshevik revolution, Soviet secret police and Red Army, into an image of Jews as victims of Communism and martyrs of Stalin. Hammer, in addition to his skills as an intelligence agent and financier had long been involved in disseminating disinformation and propaganda about both the Soviet regime and himself. As early as 1932 he sought to portray his ten year residence in Communist Russia as an archaeological search for the treasure of the old Russian aristocracy. He promoted this nonsense in his first autobiography, "The Quest of the Romanoff Treasure", which was actually ghost-written by Walter Duranty, a vile New York Times reporter who doubled as a Soviet propagandist.
In 1975 Hammer arranged for the publication by Harper and Row of Bob Considine's The Remarkable Life of Dr. Armand Hammer. Considine's book is filled with Hammer's self-inventions and it whitewashes his Communist background. Its fantasies passed into the clip files and archives of credible publications, and, through repetition, attained the status of quasi fact.
One of the activities of Hammer's "Elders of Zion" operation was the funding, through money laundered by the Reichmann empire in Toronto, of the Solomon Mikhoels Jewish Cultural Center in Moscow in 1989. the same year Hammer formed "Elders of Zion" with Gore Jr., Reichmann and the others. The Mikhoels Center is the hub of Jewish disinformation now being promulgated about Soviet Communism. A mayor player in the promulgation of this disinformation is Jerusalem Post news editor Louis Rapoport. who acknowledges the central role of the Mikhoels Center in his book exonerating Jews of responsibility, for the crimes of the Soviet regime. Though Operation "Elders of Zion" was interrupted by Hammer's death a spate of books like Rapoport's have since emerged, seemingly on cue, claiming that Jews were victims of Communism. not its directors, and that Stalin. who furnished vital aid to the Israeli state, was a lifelong Jew hater. These canards have been quoted and cited to such an extent that. like Hammer's doctored autobiography. they have entered the files of "credible" establishment organs and are now repeated incessantly. gaining credibility by their sheer repetition, a propaganda technique attributed to Hitler but practiced most efficiently by agents of the worldwide network of Armand Hammer.
Zion's Stealth Candidate
Like his father and surrogate father. Al Gore Jr. has mastered the pathways of the chameleon. He was able to succeed to his father's Senate seat in Tennessee, the "buckle of the Bible Belt", by carefully posing as a conservative, giving lip service to limits on abortion and dispatching his wife. Mary Elizabeth "Tipper" Gore, to campaign against the record industry for its "indecent lyrics" When Gore Jr. accepted the number two spot on a presidential ticket consisting of the most indecent politician in the history of Arkansas, he immediately dumped his cosmetic advocacy of abortion limits and music industry scrutiny. If Al Gore Jr. had been the son of a Nazi agent who had been raised and financed by the son of the founder of the American Nazi Party. the establishment media would see to it that he couldn't win election as chicken inspector for the FDA.
But Gore, a politician groomed by the Soviets' top Communist operative in America, now stands at the "just-a-heartbeat-away" spot from the Presidency, with not a peep of indignation from the media concerning his father's Communist subversion, KGB links and career service to the Soviet Union's "Capitalist Prince", Armand Hammer.
Can that guy write or what? The endnotes are two full columns long! Well, well, well, well. Gee Al, betcha left a lotta stuff out of the old resume there, eh? And I bet, I just bet that if this background of his doesn't become common knowledge, the democrats will shuffle right up to the old boy and shake that hand and nominate him as the the democratic party's candidate for President.
If that happens, friends, we are in BIG trouble.
protocol.
Why do I have the feeling someone leaked this Gore Sr. file to Insight...
I don't understand what you mean. The article clearly said the file was obtained under the Freedom of Info Act.
I don't think so. Hillary's more patient than that, and it's of no particular advantage for her to put this particular stake through Al Gore's heart right now
True ... but she could be sending a warning shot in Gore's direction ... to keep quite
I always thought there was a reason Clinton choose Gore for VP .. he knew would keep his mouth shut ...
Like father, like son....wish people would wake up.
A long, but well-done post.
Almost everyone's trying to make Hoover out a wacko. I don't believe the trashing he's taken since his death. But that's convenient - He's not around to answer all those charges.
He was one mean so-'n-so and he didn't take crap from anyone. Ran the FBI with an iron fist.
Whoa. That's a pretty outrageous set of allegations, and I couldn't say whether they're all true or not. I will say that if they WERE true, it wouldn't suprise me a bit, for it would conform to the history of power throught the world as we view it in retrospect.
I did have a personal experience along this line. It was and interesting encounter about with a woman who was an assistant camera person in Hollywood. She was talking one day about how she had worked for a decade as a camera assistant on a personal crew for Armand Hammar. According to her, Hammar documented everything he did on 35mm film. She talked freely about being called on a moments notice to hop on Hammar's private jet to fly into the Soviet Union. She claimed that they never bothered to get diplomatic clearance, but flew straight in. After one radio conversation with KGB, they were always allowed to land anywhere they pleased. She claimed she had been to the Soviet Union with Hammar dozens of times, even during the peak of the Cold War.
Now this was just about the time the wall fell, and I couldn't say she was telling the truth. All I remember were the vivid details about her trips, and wondering why Hammar was allowed in freely, and why she was bothering to brag about it. At that time I had never read anything about Hammar, and it all seemed very mysterious. Today, I'm inclined to believe the account.
