Josephthal & Co. ^ | 9/6/01

Posted on 09/06/2001 6:28:51 AM PDT by NativeNewYorker

Here is the bio from Josephthal's website of the guy who allegedly allowed his high schooler's pals to have a dope & stripper party at the family home in Chappaqua.

Robert W. Wien

Senior Managing Director - Director of Investment Banking

Mr. Wien, a Mergers and Acquisitions and Restructuring Specialist with more than two decades of diverse industry and transactional experience, joined Josephthal in 1996 as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. Previously, he spent more than ten years as an investment banker with Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. where he was regional coordinator for M&A activity in the Southwest, and two years as a Director in the Corporate Finance and Real Estate Advisory Services Groups at Coopers and Lybrand. Mr. Wien began his career as an attorney, serving as a Staff Attorney for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, as a law clerk to the Hon. Vincent L. Broderick in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York and as a securities and mergers and acquisitions litigator for more than five years at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Mr. Wien received his J.D. degree cum laude from New York Law School, his M.B.A. with distinction from New York University in the CPA Professional Program (Accounting) and his B.A. in History and Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Why is this interesting? Does it have something to do with Bill and Hill?

It's a cultural slide story with the news hook of being near Her Thighness' nominal "home".

And the SOB has a Honorary Doctorate in amorality, and a PhD in "Getting Away With It", summa cum laude.

His type is the shank crew of pirates what are running our markets and banks. And what is his monthly coke bill?

Josephthal is seen as a bottom of the barrel shop.

Note that this fool went there after a tour at Dean Witter. No one makes that kind of move voluntarily.

Well, that's enlightening. Still in the network though. Not de-licensed. Not banned to the wildlands of mid-America.

If Gary Condit can retain access to the most sensitive secrets of our nation, it is not surprising that a second-rate dealmaker with an accounting background but poor judgement on teenage entertainment still has a job on Wall Street. :)

These New York investment banker types are so unsophisticated and gauche for all of their money. Honestly, was he born under a rock? Didn't his parents teach him anything?

With a proper background, he would have known that if you want to have that sort of a party for the team, you simply hire off-duty police officers from your town for 'traffic and crowd control' and make sure that the outside noise level is kept down so that the neighbors don't complain -- or, if it's really necessary to be outside and raucous, invite the neighbors (if they'd enjoy the party and fit in) or send them to dinner and a show in New York. Oh, and work with off-duty cops and Call-A-Ride to make sure there's not drunken driving later. It's done here in Greenwich all the time by responsible hosts.

I find it very interesting! It relates to just who are the parents of a Monica, Chandra, the Culumbine High School shooters. What are their values?

What's this guys core beliefs? Is he married, how many children, faith affiliation etc. Are poor family values rampantly being taught by our seudo materialistic elites?

I think I knew this clown at when he was at Skadden Arps. There's a good reason he doesn't live in Greenwich or belong to a decent club.

10 - Yes, the proper way to do this DOES seem obvious.

When I saw he was a Josephthal guy, it all made sense though. The Morgan Stanley or Goldman guys would rather die than make this kind of insane public blunder.

I suppose it's some sort of Gresham's Law: poor judgement drives out good or something like that.

This is also a beautiful example of why the most sought-after buildings in Manhattan are co-ops and not condos.

We *really* screen potential buyers, and among the key issues are noise and understanding how to NOT trouble the neighbors.

Clean slates from previous co-ops are a big plus.

I've often wondered how one chooses an ordinary home when you don't know who your neighbors are or what kind of hassles they might impose.

Did'nt Morgan Stanley pay big $$$$ for for ex president Clinton to speak and then apologized for it? I think they're all sickos.

The Morgan Stanley guy responsible was vaporized shortly thereafter. IIRC, he was a high-yield (junk) trader, and a GOP donor who lived in NJ.

Yes, I recall that Dick Nixon couldn't get into a decent co-op. And the word around last year was that Slick has been turned down by every golf and country club anyone would want to belong to in the the Metropolitan area -- places like Winged Foot, Westchester CC, Greenwich CC or Innis Arden were never an option, but apparently it was also made quite clear he wasn't welcome anywhere. Through acquaintances, I know approaches to both Metropolitan CC and Sunningdale were rebuffed.
