KEYWORDS:
Heavenly Father, we lift these all our requests to You, knowing that You alone are faithful to answer our prayers. Father, help us when we fall and keep us ever looking to You and the promise that was revealed through Your Son Jesus Christ. Guide us and protect us, let others see Your Love through us. Father, I ask that You hold me close and touch the hearts of those that need it. Guide them to follow Your Will and not their own. If it be Your Will, in Christ's Holy Name. Amen

I have shared this with one other on FR, just within the last several weeks. I had never read it until the 29th of July, the day of my Mother's entrance to Eternity. She meant it for all of her family and friends who were left here in the mortal world. "Mum" read it every night as she approached her death, and she herself made this a portion of her own prayers for as long as she was able.
At first reading it sometimes strikes a blow, but it is truly written ... as one who speaks to those left behind.
A Psalm for the Dying
Adapted from the writings of Ed Hays
Relatives and friends,
My last breath did not say goodbye,
for my love for you is truly timeless,
beyond the touch of boney death.
I leave my "self" not to the undertaker,
for decoration in his house of the dead,
but to your memory, with love.
I leave my thoughts, my laughter, my dreams
to you whom I have treasured
beyond gold and precious gems.
I give you what no thief can steal,
the memories of our times together;
the fun; the quiet joy;
the tender, love-filled moments;
the successes we have shared;
the hard times that brought us together ...
and the roads we have walked side by side.
I also leave you a solemn promise
that after I am home in the bosom of God,
I will still be present, whenever and wherever you call on me.
My energy will be drawn to you by the magnet of our love.
Whenever you are in need, call me;
I will come to you.
I will be there for you with my arms full of wisdom and light to open your blocked paths;
to untangle your knots and to be your avenue to God.
And all I take with me as I leave
is your love and the millions of memories of all that we have shared.
So I truly enter my new life
as a millionaire.
Fear not ... nor grieve at my departure,
you whom I have loved so much,
for my roots and yours are forever intertwined,
hearts and minds for eternity.
While we never give up our hope that this life will last forever -- and our Family at FR -- or our daily and earthly Family and Friends has been faced with the departure of a loved one -- we are all left with an empty branch in our own lives and hearts, or we may be filled with foreboding at the threat of life ending, even as we Trust in HIM ... I sincerely pray that these words will fill the ache or the fear in each person of this wonderful cyber home with the comfort that any human "feelings" can offer.
To others who might not read this, because of my failure to "ping" ... especially those among us whose grief has struck in our life here together, accept my humble apologies ... you are in my prayers daily, and together we can face anything ... in the journey planned by Him.
