Sorry if this should not be a new thread or posted somewhere besides Breaking News. I saw a few minutes ago the Arlington County Fire Dept chief in an interview on newsChannel8 (DC-area all news cable station) say there are between 100-800 dead in the Pentagon attack. He apologized for the wide range in numbers given. Hope more information is forthcoming. . . .
A few minutes before, NC8 reported on a DC Police news conference. Chief Ramsey said they are recommending World Bank/IMF meeting at the end of the month be postponed or canceled. . . some roads may still be closed tomorrow. . .Expect permanenet changes re security - "no such thing as business as usual" any more

Thanks for the news update. I fear the death count will include people I used to work with. I hope/pray the Pentagon fatalities are less than one thousand.

Fox News following up . . . 67 on plane (all dead) up to 850 working in area of Pentagon hit.

Fred, dunno where your friends worked. . . Earlier reports today said some of the area of the Pentagon hit was under construction. Also said the Homeland Defense counterterrorism unit was in the flight path.
Very reliable military source of my own told me mail-hqda, the mail headquarters for the US Army was in the direct path of plane, operations for that unit have been transferred elsewhere.

Has freeper Matthew James posted today? He works on "the Army side".

I hate to say it, but we'll have at least a few FReepers on the FReeper Hall of Fame. Barbara Olson is the first.

One reporter stated the attack was in the Navy/Marine area of the Pentagon. Very sad.

Damn.
I hope he's out of CONUS, he gets overseas on short jobs a lot.
To: Travis McGee
Reuters says it was the Marine section that was hit.

Thanks for that info, I hope Reuters is right, I heard Army. Isn't the USMC just in a slice of the Navy part?
To: Travis McGee
At least one Army ops was hit, according to my info.

I got a bad feeling, he would have posted a freep report, or checked in if he was out of CONUS. Maybe he is stranded in an airport somewhere. (I hear that about 25 jets are stuck in St. John's Newfoundland or somewhere up there alone.)
To: Travis McGee
I heard it was a joint Army-Navy section, recently renovated, people moving in to the new space. The local (DC) TV stations were appealing for all Navy and Marine Corps active duty and civilians to call a number and report their status. I heard no such appeal to Army personnel so it may have been heavy Navy Department.

Dear Freepers, Please Help!! Has anyone confirmed if the Navy part of the Pentagon received any casualties or deaths. We have a good friend who just left the Naval War College to work at the Pentagon and we cannot locate him.

Thanks for the tip.
To: Plummz
They reported that this portion of the pentagon was in the process of being "refurbished," not construction...
Chances are good that there could have been many people in there.
The communications headquarters are supposed to be in the basement from what I heard.

My source telling me the plane looks to have plowed through Corridor 4, one of the "spokes," the helipad was at the end of this spoke. It was indeed finishing a refurbishing, so not at full density.
