The son of the guy across the hall at the office was getting ready for his discharge from the Army next month. They said they lost his paperwork--and they're going to accept any discharges until further notice. He called his fiance to say, "I'm not coming home anytime soon."

I'm a Navy Petty Officer. You should have seen the faces of the junior Sailors yesterday, it was like a switch was clicked. Day before, It was all clowning and talk about the weekend's revels. Tuesday at noon these kids out of high school had the eyes of killers. God bless 'em.

You should have seen the faces of the junior Sailors yesterday If that's going on with the sailors imagine what kind of a switch just went through the Marines and Army Infantrymen.
Satan show mercy to those poor bastards in the Middle East because God and America wont.

Somebody needs to post George C, Scott's "Patton" speech.
(It's a cleaner version of George S. Patton's real one)

If not for Bill Clinton, I probably would have enlisted in 1993 after graduating college... I feel the pull especially strong again now... Too bad I'm an old man...

My brother was in the 2nd Marine Divsion with one month to go back in '91 when Iraq invaded Kuwait.
He had done almost 4 years and was held in another 14 months after that.
That guy across the halls kid isn't getting out anytime soon.

You can enlist in the Army, provided you haven't reached your 35th B'day. Just thought I'd let ya know that! LOL!

Be safe.
Blessings to you.

I'm right there with you, Nea!
Give me two days off my hormones and then put me in the same room with bin-Laden. He'll take his own life. 8o)

I wanted to enlist to, and many others I talked with. The age limit stops many, including me, but it only makes me madder.

"Shoot...I'm a female in her 40s, and *I* feel like going down to the nearest recruiting office!!!" My 84 year old mom asked me yesterday if I thought I'd be drafted (I'll be 58 in two months). I'm ready to go....and I'll bring my own gun and ammo too!

The parking lot in front of a recruiting office here in Tuscaloosa was pretty crowded yesterday afternoon about 4:30 p.m.

I'm sure it does make you angrier especially at a time like this. On the same subject, my husband had a woman call the recruiting station once quite a few months ago and chewed him out because she couldn't enlist, she was over 34. He apologized and suggested she write her congressman about it. Apparently, she'd tried to join the Army on several occassions, but was rejected for whatever reason...I forget now.
Since this attack, the bosses are really hounding hubby to put someone in by the 24th. He just returned to work on Monday after being gone for 10 weeks to school (he just graduated his school last Thursday and we came back from Ft. Benning on Friday). He started work as an on campus recruiter at UNC. He was told on Monday by the bosses he didn't have to put anyone in this month. That changed on Tuesday. Now the bosses are calling him at home every night to see if he's put anyone in yet. I find that kinda unusual provided what another poster said about his co worker's son told he's not getting out next month.

My very nice, but extremely aimless stepson called up and talked about joining the Army today!!! There's hope for us yet!

I'd do it if we wage open and unrestrained war with the complete destruction of the enemy as our only goal. I will not, however, tolerate being a "peacekeeper".

Thank you. Prior to Tuesday, I'd thought most people forgot we were here. Guess uniforms and haircuts will be back in style once again.

The ones I saw looked like rabid rottweilers on leashes. Must say, I feel the same way. Sailor, Marine, Soldier or Airman, we really all have the same job, ultimately. Believe me when I say we ALL want a piece. As I told my men, "Yesterday, it was just a job. Now It's war. Dismissed." They snapped to like Roman Legionaries. My chest like to burst, I was so proud.
