Has anyone made serious preparations?
Myself | Randall Flagg

I was just wondering. Are there any FReepers that have made preparations in case this war gets worse than it already has? I'm talking about buying survival gear, informing family of actions and contingency plans, thinking out all possible scenarios, etc.

I'm going to my place of employment with my Wife and Son. With my firearms, we'd have an ample supply of food, water and resources. It's easily guarded and HUGE!

Any others here have these (Possibly paranoid) thoughts?

We're still covered from the Y2K fiasco.

Dang, MRE's have a shelf life of at least 10 years...and they taste "yummy" enough to leave on the shelf for 10 years.

;^)

Preparedness should not be contingent on emergency.

Anything might happen.

But don't worry, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

With terrorists, anything's possible. I'm not gonna trust the "Chance" option.

You can ask this question after watching our enemies turn commercial jets into manned missiles and destroying the WTC live and in color?

This situation does not require "Y2K-bunker" style preparation. Our enemies do not have the capability to invade this country or destory our infrastructure. However, our enemies do have the capability to commit more random terrorist acts but it is impossible to prepare for them except hope you aren't in the wrong place at the wrong time. If there are more terrorist attacks, the response (in the form of aid) will be immediate. Here in Boston, the blood banks are already turning away people because they have more than they need. Our company alone is sending thousands of dollars to the victims in NYC.

So there is no need to stockpile anything. We are all in this together and we will help each other out if necessary.

I'm still stocked up from Y2K. A little short in the food deptartment, but that can be remedied easily enough. Y2K may well yet be a blessing in disgiuse. At the very least, it made me look at how much we depend on the "just-in-time" infrastructure in this country. Three months worth of food and supplies could make all the diffrence for my family. You never know...

Considering the infra-structure damaged, there are going to be, at least, some distribution problems.
