India may offer base to US

NEW DELHI, Sept 13
All eyes are glued on the US as to what will be its reaction in response to Tuesday's devastating terrorist strikes in New York and Washington, while India feels that it may be the next target of Osama Bin Laden.
India being the possible next target of Osama Bin Laden was discussed at today's Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). All security rules at airports have been redrafted and sent to Civil Aviation Security. Security agencies did not rule similar attacks in India too. Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is addressing the nation tomorrow to take the people into confidence about Indian measures to tackle terrorism. The CCS also reviewed the international situation and economic consequences including sudden spurt in prices after the attacks in the US.
Though America has mounted pressure on Pakistan to compel its ally Taliban in Afghanistan to hand over Saudi fugitive Osama Bin Laden, widely suspected to be behind the attacks, Pakistan is expecting a possible US military strike against the Taliban or Laden-controlled military installations in Afghanistan. Reports also suggested that Pakistan may provide its soil and fuelling facilities to US forces for any military operation against Afghanistan.
INDIAN ASSISTANCE: Even India has offered "unconditional" help to the US for launching any military operations against terrorism. It may include use of Indian soil and fuelling facilities to US forces. But the US would prefer Pakistan for any help and would require India's help in creating an atmosphere against Islamic terrorism because India has the largest population of Muslims in the world after Indonesia.
Fearing copy cat versions of US terrorist attacks in India, civil aviation security rules have been changed overnight. Now, all the MPs would be searched at the airport. Besides deploying sky marshals in aircraft, closed circuit TVs would be installed in adequate numbers to tighten the security at airports. The security at all the airports has been given to CISF with a different uniform. Local police would function under the CISF at the airports, including aero clubs.
INFO GIVEN TO US: India has already given sufficient evidence to prove Pakistan's hand in nurturing and exporting terrorism with active connivance with Taliban. The details of training camps being run by Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have been given to the US authorities. In June when three suspected terrorists close to Laden were arrested in New Delhi for planning to attack the US embassy, the FBI had not taken it seriously. Now an FBI team is coming to interrogate the accused now lodged in Tihar jail, sources said.
So far the US was virtually paying a lip service to the cause against terrorism. Since Washington is now the major victim of terrorism and was attacked in a big way after the Pearl Harbour incident, it would be insufficient to catch Osama Bin Laden. The angry US citizens would not feel satisfied with the mere arrest or killing of Laden as against killing of thousands of Americans.
Is it possible to arrest Laden alive? Possibly not. All those surrounding him are willing to die to protect him. He himself would not afford to face the ignominy of facing the US judicial system and that's why he would prefer death to surrender, sources feel.
Taliban, which has been nurturing and exporting terrorism, is feeling the impact of the consequences with a possible US attack following. Fearing a US military operation, it has promptly denied its hand or the connivance of Laden in the American attacks. Even Pakistan has assured President Bush of its "unstinted co-operation" in the fight against terrorism. Gen Pervez Musharraf dare not call it "as freedom struggle" a phrase he used for Kashmiri militants. "We regard terrorism as an evil that threatens the world community," he said in his statement, asking all countries to join hands in this common cause. If Pakistan or Taliban do not hand over Laden to the US, they will face further isolation in the Islamic world.
Reports suggest that Taliban authorities have moved Laden and their supreme commander Mullah Omar from his widely known headquarters in Kandahar to an unknown destination. Now it is for Pakistan's ISI to tell the US about his exact location. India, on its part, is already sharing its intelligence input about the movement of Laden and his men in Afghanistan.
Wise folks, these Indians. Knowing they are just as hated, as any other of the infidels, they are willing to cooperate. Survival is a powerful motivator. I reckon the Indians and the Israelis have more solid experience, with these muslim radicals.

The only way to make the US and the world safe from terrorist is to find these terrorist and kill them and their families in the dead of night.
To do so with out pity or remorse. To do so in the most horribly brutal fashion as to strike unreasoning fear in to the hearts of those who would follow their example. This is the language that these people understand.
This is the currency of these people’s minds. These are the methods which will restore our country’s and the world's safety.
Lesser methods such as banning email encryption an phone tapping are temporary stopgap measures which last only as long as it takes the terrorist to find a way around the measure (which is not long).
Only the fear of a strong and ruthless retaliation will stop these people.
My recollection of the gulf war was that we flew our B-52's out of Diego Garcia when we carpet bombed Sadham...

This comment or statment seems to be the cornerstone and consensus of much of what I have been reading...It seems the images of the WTC towers coming down scared the crap out of so many world participants and leaders...if nothing else...a line in the sand has been drawn...and many will either be on our side or ostensibly "their" side by abstentia...Just my two cents and an observation

While I'm not disagreeing with you in spirit, the REAL people to liquidate are the financiers. There is an endless supply of fanatic muhammadans, but far fewer who can bankroll something like the September 11th operation. Osama bin Laden isn't dangerous because he's smart. He's dangerous because he's smart and rich.
What we need to do is follow the money. Give all the money laundering off-shore banking countries (including the Europeans) an ultimatum - immediately open up ALL your financial records to us, or suffer our most serious wrath. Then hunt down all the financiers and confiscate their money. THEN put a .45 into the base of the skull of them and theirs.
