Political Correctness: The Facilitator of Terrorism FrontPageMagazine.com | September 14, 2001 THE HORRIFYING terrorist strikes against the United States remind us of the devastating impact of political correctness on American society.
Political correctness has robbed America of its ability to defend itself. By fostering the illusion that there is no evil in the world (except what is politically incorrect), political correctness has promoted "rights" to the point of incapacitating America in the face of its enemies. Consider this: Osama bin Laden is a Saudi-born militant who has dedicated his life to launching terrorism against the United States. His disciples are, like him, Islamic fundamentalists from the Middle East. It would make sense that if someone looked as if they were from the Middle East, that American security personnel would search them thoroughly. Common sense would instruct that they would do this with more precision than, let us say, with a Black man from Grenada or a Hispanic man from Costa Rica. But the politically correct utopian world tells us that this is a big no-no. Even when I say such things among my acquaintances, there is an uncomfortable silence. And yet, it is precisely this Wizard of Oz la-la land that allows a situation where planes can be hijacked and driven into heavily populated buildings. It is a vision that ignores the reality that this is a world full of evil, danger and wickedness. If there was a Sri Lankan family that dedicated its life to killing me, then I would discriminate against Sri Lankan-looking individuals. If I had a party, I would discriminate against any Sri Lankan-looking person who came into my house. I would treat them differently than I would a Chinese or Arabic person. But doing this, and even saying and thinking such things, is now taboo in our society. The Left has imposed its fantasy of how we are all approaching a social utopia, where there will be no discriminatory practices such as racial profiling. And in doing so in a world where evil exists, it has sacrificed the lives of its own people. Aside from political correctness, there is also an overall hedonism and complacency in American society that has facilitated the work of terrorists. I still cant figure out: how is it that carry-on bags are not searched a second time at the boarding of planes? Why are the passengers not physically checked the way that people are checked upon their entrance into certain night-clubs? When I ask these questions, many people look puzzled and roll their eyes. One person commented that he would be "insulted" if this were to happen to him on a flight. Another individual said it would be "time-consuming" and "inconvenient." Well, I guess that hijacked planes crashing into heavily populated buildings are inconvenient as well. The very fact that people are mystified by these questions shows the complete ignorance of the evil that enemies wish to perpetrate against us. There is some kind of strange self-destructive tendency in democracy. In trying to perfect itself, and in pursuing all of its naïve ideals, it disarms itself of the ability to fight evil. The influence of the Left is the key ingredient in this phenomenon. My last conversation about the terrorist strikes was with a Leftist I know. As always, he foamed at the mouth about how America deserved what it got. He is a professional anti-American always romanticizing American enemies, while vilifying his own society. And yet, I couldnt help thinking how the next time, it just might be him on board one of those tragic planes. But in the end, this is precisely what he wants to happen. It is the socialist death wish, the Leftwing hatred of life that lies at the core of this reality. Why else has every communist revolution eaten its own children? The revolutionaries themselves wanted to die, because they rejected the very world in which they lived. Driven by self-hatred, their objectives ultimately turn cannibalistic and self-mutilating. It is for these reasons that terrorists have just had such an easy time perpetrating their unspeakable crimes. A society that is cognizant of evil, and paranoid about protecting itself from all kinds of imaginary attacks, would not have allowed these crimes to occur. But the Left-wing fantasy that we can all enjoy our "rights" and treat everyone as equals, without being paranoid and paying a price, prevails. And that is why human beings held hands on the upper stories of the World Trade Center Towers and jumped to their deaths. |

About four days ago, before the assault on the WTC, my liberal friend (who is in the Navy) insinuated I was a bigot because of how I felt about the majority of Muslims. But I think that has changed.
I've never been shy about being accused of bigotry, because I have the rhetorical flourish to defend myself. But it angers me to no end to see good people bite their tongues because they are afraid of (what is perceived to be) the majority's opinion. "Political Correctness" is 1984-style thought reform.
Finally, thank you for posting this. I figured the next reason given for why this happened and we are so "hated" was going to be baseball, apple pie and possibly Chevrolet.
Say what you will and flame away, but all of what you say came at the cost of allowing the womens movement and affirmative action control our workplace. We no longer promote people based on merit but on race, gender and sexual preference and the result is Fill in the blank. This fact is particularly blatant in airport security, well, at least at Newark airport that is the case.
Our terrorist foes have us at an advantage, in that we have dumb-down all aspects of our society to the lowest common denominator, we are weak everywhere, airport security today, military telecommunications tomorrow. The holes have become too numerous to fill.
Thats true but it time for them to root out the demons among themselves. The ball in their court now.
political correctness = communism!
