All,

There are alot of smart people on this board. If a family member is dead (especially a breadwinner) what are the next steps (after listing the relative as missing with all agencies)?

From example:

Locate will
Locate bank accounts
Locate life insurance accounts
Locate medical records
Locate dental records
Double check employee benefits
Determine how long do benefits last after a death of employee
Determine how long do paychecks last after a death of employee
Transfer names of mortgage, bank accounts, cars, etc.
IRAs? Pensions?
How to obtain a death certificate without a body
Close credit card accounts

Government Services:

Social Security (death benefits)
Welfare/Food Stamps ($0 income now)
IRS (congress debating tax breaks/no income tax for victims)
Red Cross
Others???

I realize this topic may be insensitive - but bills will have to paid and winter is coming

Locate friends who would like to know about the death.
