Amazing show of Patriotism in Los Angeles (of all places!)

I saw an amazing thing tonight. I went out with a friend to watch a movie, and on our way there we immediately saw small groups of people out on the streets with flags and candles, on this National Day of Remembrance. It was a comforting sight to see during this time of tragedy. When we got to Sunset Blvd, I couldn't believe my eyes. On the corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights, there were TONS of people gathered in crowds on the four corners of the intersection, in an amazing show of patriotism and unity. Just about every car that drove by was honking - you could hear this from blocks away.
There were American flags of all sizes, tons of candles, flowers, and signs. Some of the signs - 'AMERICA IS UNITED', 'Born Again American', and a few others. A couple SUVs kept driving by with some guys up on the roof of the car waving a big American flag. Other cars were flying both the American flag and the Israeli Star of David flag. When the firefighters, ambulances and even the police drove by, there were was extra loud cheering and applause.
Most of the people I saw tonight were young - in their 20's and 30's. I was happy to see so many young people out there, in support of America. I don't want to sound corny, but you could feel the love and concern the people had for the victims of the attacks, and our country.
I know that lots of FReepers aren't crazy about California (especially LA), but I wanted to write this report and tell you that the patriotism and unity I saw tonight was surprising and awesome.

Welcome back "incindiary". It is nice to see Angelenos showing their patriotism. Now let's see how many enlist in the armed forces...known as putting your collective asses where your mouth is. Walking my post in Orange County in B-1 Bob Dornan's old district which we plan to take back from Loretta "I forgot my married name" Sanchez. Semper Fi, Mike

Isn't it nice how completely this event has silenced the Alec Baldwins and Barbra Streisands of the entertainment world? Even the darkest cloud has a silver lining.

Love the report! And allow me to add...
HangFire and I went to run an errand last night, and at the corner of Venice and Lincoln there was a small group of young people waving not only flags and candles, but a GADSDEN FLAG as well!!
A Gadsden flag. In L.A. Un-FReep-related.
Knock me over with a feather.
Oh... AND DON'T TREAD ON ME!!!

I have been heartened by all the flages on people cars. I have had my antenna flag on for months...I attached it during the NBA playoffs because I was so annoyed at all the Laker flags. I figured that I would show people what flag they SHOULD be flying. Its sad that it took such a horrid event to invoke patriotism. I hope it will last.

All the while, the Arabs are very upset about the invasion of Hollywood immoralities via movies and TV into their countries. They claim that such non-stop demonstrations of our immoralities are major reasons they hate us.
Are Hollywood movies that bad? Some are: Last night they showed a completely disgusting movie called "Backstage" on HBO. It was a long litany of obscenties, nudity (everything) and non-stop drug-induced partying by black rappers, the main characters in the film. It was well beyond disgusting as it reflected the sinful life styles and practices of reprehensible people. Why is it that such people that flaunt their baseness get so much footage and air time to "explain" their miserable lack of basic morality?
By the way, I'm not excusing the Arab terrrorists or their facilitator nations, but merely commenting upon one of their complaints. Hollywood movies and TV shows have an immense impact thoughout the world, whether for good or ill, but often for ill. Many Hollywood producers and actors are also leftist agitators and commie supporters as well as being immoral. Almost all are demoncraps too!

I walked into the Bank of America in Orange County on Friday amd was brought up short when I walked in to see everyone in the bank standing with their heads bowed in prayer as a minister on TV gave a prayer. At least two minutes passed until the end of the prayer and no business was transacted as EVERYONE in the bank stood with heads bowed until the end of the prayer. The teller wiped tears away when I walked up to her at the end of the prayer.

Yeah, it is sad that it took a tragedy like this to jar people awake, and invoke patriotism. I guess sometimes we take things for granted... but when something like this happens, it makes us realize that we've had it pretty good here, and we should never take what we have for granted.
ps- sorry for the late reply!

I totally agree with you about Hollywood. I can't even watch
hellivision anymore, because I don't like what I'm seeing. And there aren't a lot of movies that I like these days.
And you're right about the leftists running Hollywood. IMO they have an agenda, and I think part of it is to break down our cultural standards or morality by shoving all this amoral garbage on us.

Beautiful! And like you, I'm thrilled to tears that it's young people. Maybe America is to be preserved by another "Great Generation".
