Posted on 09/21/2001 6:03:39 AM PDT by Jmouse007

I just thought I would post something light by way of tribute to the WTC.

Please list films that feature the World Trade Center in all it's glory.

not "featuring" the WTC, but the towers can be seen in the tidal wave resulting from an asteroid hit at the end of "Armageddon". The wave destroys New York.

Eventhough it was supposed to be set in the late 1920's I always thought it was interesting to see them in "The Valachi Papers." It is early in the movie during a chase scene, as Bronson goes off a pier in Brooklyn you can see them under construction across the East River.

A new Spiderman movie, whose release was cancelled by this act of terror, featured Spiderman shooting a web between the two towers to catch a helicopter ride, I believe.

Image of `King Kong` movie poster The 1976 remake... I was a teenager visiting my grandmother in East Orange, NJ when they were filming the WTC shots in NYC. They made an open call for anyone who wanted to go and be in the crowd scene at the foot of the towers... I didn't go, but this post reminded me of that...

Kind of eerie. Yesterday I saw the towers shown twice, once on a "classic video" on VH1 (can't remember the band or the song, drat the luck). And once at the opening credits of the Chevy Chase/Dan Ackroyd/Demi Moore film "Nothing But Trouble".

It was hard to watch, I can tell you that.

Chevy Chase/Dan Ackroyd/Demi Moore film "Nothing But Trouble

That movie was hard to watch well before 9/11.

I believe the movie you're reffering to was "DEEP IMPACT" with Morgan Freeman.

Those scenes are hard to watch. I wonder how long that will last with us--that feeling of sadness? It's almost like seeing a picture of a close friend who has died. I didn't think I'd feel that way about a building. After the first dozen or so replays of the airplane hitting the WTC, I have no desire to see those shots again.

not featuring but...The Family Man (Nicholas Cage). Thought we would catch a flick the other night. There is a scene where he races to the city and the towers are beautiful in the winter light. Sigh and sniff.

Actually, it was the TRAILER for the Spider-Man movie that was pulled from theatres. The scene showed Spider-Man using a web strung between the two towers to capture a helicopter being used by fleeing bank robbers. Too bad...it was one heck of a special effect.

I don't recall seeing the WTC, but the "Godzilla" remake had some street level views of the city that looked eerily like ground zero when the buildings were coming down.
