Interesting.

No wonder the Belgrade Partizan football team refused to honor a minute of silence at their last football game for the terrorist victims in the states.

Funny they even had a stadium to play in after the 'humanitarian bombing' of their country by Clinton and his goonballs.

Thanks, Shuckmaster. Haunting images indeed. Clinton is a war criminal for bombing a sovereign nation in peacetime. My question is, Would our current President have acted any differently?

In any case, now we have some idea of how the Serbs felt when we were raining death down on them. May God have mercy on us.

My blood boils with contemt for that vile so called leader we were forced to suffer with for 8 long years. Thanks to Clinton we now have many suspect nations for the bombing. Think about the millions of enemies we have made while the "Great Seducer" attempted to save his hide via distractions designed to prevent his impeachment for his lack of morals and character during his term as president. when I see him on TV, I bristle at the sight of his lying face.

Yes, May God have mercy on us for what we did to the Serbs. And, May God have mercy on them for making sure to point out these similarities.
I don't say this lightly as we normally attend a Serbian Orthodox church and my children all have Serbian Godparents. It is not the place of the Serbian people to make these comparisons and it is not the role of a peacemaker to publish websites such as this one.
Blessed are the peacemakers.

As much as bombing of Serbia was misguided - it dit NOT target civilians specifically - and here the similiarity ends

There are no similiarities to the bombing of Serbia and the terrorist attacks in NYC or DC. Anyone who thinks so is either woefully ignorant of the law of land warfare or is intentionally misrepresnting the facts. In fact, attempting to make these comparison justifies the world's original condemnation of Serbia and the resultant bombings.

I think our bombing of Serbia was wrong, for all of the many reasons we have all read and heard.
But I strongly object to the Serbs doing this act of "now you see how it feels" to Americans. And I suffered through a tad of it last week at church personally. We did not attend church today and for the next few weeks we will be attending Russian and American Orthodox churches instead of the Serbian one we normally attend.
I am appalled to find links to parish activities, etc, on the page with these photos.

Here is my email to the priest of this parish -

Father,
This page of your site was recently published on www.freerepublic.com.
As an Orthodox Christian whose children were baptized and chrismated in a Serbian Orthodox church,
I am appalled that you would allow this to be part of your parish website.

Another example of an aggrieved group trying to grab hold of the sympathy cloak now covering America.

No matter what the Serbs suffered, this is a cheap PR stunt.

Unlike some, I do not see any gloating in this but a condemnation of a willingness to inflict civilian casualties for political ends. At my Serbian Orthodox Church last week, our priest condemned the Sept. 11 attacks as coming directly from Satan and those who willingly do his work.

I have seen no 'gloating' among my fellow parishoners. Today, our choir sang 'God Bless America' after Liturgy.

Yes, the NATO bombings did target civilians. NATO bombed bridges that were inadequate for military traffic and they repeatedly bombed empty military facilities knowing full well that the only damage being inflicted was upon the homes of the defenseless civilians nearby. Remember when the Serbs agreed to withdraw? NATO announced that it would restrict its attacks to military targets, a de facto admission that they were hitting civilian targets.

Most Serbs I know hang full responsibility for the bombings on Clinton, Blair, Clarke, Solana, and Milosevic.

The newly formed parish here, made up exclusively of refugees, has cancelled its Autumn Dinner-Dance scheduled for next week-end due to the recent diaster in the USA....out of respect to the dead and their families.

I was very impressed by the expressions of sadness for Americans...countless members of the group told me personally, "SORRY for what happened to Americans."

Also, 20 or so called us to say the same thing within days of the attacks....one gal was in tears!

But of course it didn't, the 1500 civilian dead were "collateral damage"

That's great. I wish our priest had done as well.
Instead he mentioned the idea that the attack was related to the evil in this country, then went on to talk at length about the horrors of the bombing in Serbia.
Finally he said that he had lost friends in both tragedies, and shrugged his shoulders.
There were no patriotic gestures of any kind. Oche Nash was said in memory of the victims.
I very nearly walked out. My son was serving at the altar or I might have.

"No matter what the Serbs suffered, this is a cheap PR stunt."

Well said. It is not honorable to point out your difficulties or sufferings in the immediate aftermath of the sufferings of another. I grieved with the Serbs and I was mistaken in expecting that in our parish, they would do the same for Americans.

"NATO bombed bridges that were inadequate for military traffic and they repeatedly bombed empty military facilities knowing full well that the only damage being inflicted was upon the homes of the defenseless civilians nearby"

There is no such thing as a bridge "inadequate" for military traffic. If you can drive across it, troops can march across it as well. Military facilities, empty today, are still military facilities and remain valid targets.

I am the webmaster for atlantaserbs.netfirms.com and was fwded your concerns from Father Milovan. I think there has been a huge misunderstanding about why those pictures were posted. Please let me answer your e-mail as follows:

First of all, I do not know exactly what you find to be "appalling"? The fact that innocent civilians were bombed in New York or the fact that innocent civilians were bombed in Belgrade? Personally, I am appalled at both. As the Serbian Church has always distanced herself from Milosevic, she greatly lamented when he rigged the elections to get in office. Because of things he did while in power, NATO chose to strike at Yugoslav citizens in an attempt to bring Milosevic to his knees. However, in doing so, bombs rained down on helpless citizens for over 2 months.

On a recent trip to Belgrade, I saw the ruins left from the NATO attacks. Many churches, schools and farms, not to mention other civilian common areas, lay partially or wholly in ruin. Thousands of innocents were dismembered and/or killed needlessly. The same people who protested Milosevic's usurption of office were the ones who ended up as the targets for the US-led bombings.

The pictures on our website came from an e-mail circulating the Internet. We noticed strong similiarities in the photos, in regards to the burning, the carnage, the camera angles, etc. The display of these pictures serves only to show our sympathy to the American people for loss of innocent blood. (I am a proud, American-born citizen myself-- with an American flag waving proudly outside my front door!)

If you followed any of the other links on our website, you would have seen numerous prayers for peace and forgiveness. At difficult times like these, it is of utmost importance that we remain firm in our Faith and that we pray for those who are suffering. I pray that those killed were received into the Heavenly Kingdom. I pray that the terrorists repent and halt their evil actions. And I pray that more people will pray and attend church so that society as a whole will turn back to God. I should also note that we have been serving various prayer services since the very hour of the attacks, as well as memorial services each Sunday, as most Serbian Orthodox churches have been instructed to do.

I do not know how a link to our site got on the one you mentioned. I will check it out to see how they are displaying our link. In the mean time, please know that the Serbian Church is not out for any kind of revenge; QUITE the contrary! We've always advocated peace, prayed for peace and even prayed for our enemies. And we continue to do so!

I hope this clears up any misconceptions you may have had about our display.
