Arab League says US strikes on any members "unacceptable"

AMMAN, Sept 23 (AFP) -

Arab League chief Amr Mussa warned here on Sunday after meeting with King Abdullah II that US strikes against any Arab states in retaliation for the September 11 terrorist attacks would be "unacceptable."

"There are different ways of fighting against terrorism and it must be the subject of consultations" among Arab countries, the head of the 22-country grouping told reporters.

"Clearly, we would never accept a strike against an Arab country, no matter what the circumstances," he said.

Mussa said he had discussed with Abdullah, the current head of the Arab summit, "the possibility of holding very soon a meeting of Arab foreign ministers" to find a common Arab position on the terror attacks.

Also asked whether he thought the increasing number of US troops in the Middle East was a prelude to a new attack on Iraq, Mussa said that "a strike against an Arab country would entirely destabilize the situation."

Mussa's one-day visit came ahead of a meeting between Abdullah and US President George W. Bush set for next week in Washington, and appeals by Washington for Arab states to join its anti-terrorism coalition in the wake of the suicide attacks by hijacked airliners on New York and Washington.

The Arab league chief was to have met later with Jordan's foreign minister and he returned to Cairo early Sunday evening.

Abdullah has already condemned the attacks on the United States and is scheduled to leave for Washington on Tuesday.

Mussa has said a number of Arab states will not join any anti-terrorist coalition that includes Israel, a strong ally of the United States.

to find a common Arab position on the terror attacks.

Sounds to me like they already have a common position on them. When are we going to learn that the arabs hate us and can't be trusted?

TRANSLATION: We will pretend to be helping you find the terrorists, but as soon as you tell us something about your plans we will give the info to the terrorists.

Saudi Arabia, Go suck a duck. If you are not with us, then you are with the terrorists. Don't test us or you'll have to wear PF 100,000 sunscreen.

You're behind the power curve, camel jockey. You insult, consult, and get no results. Please let me introduce you to my friend the Eagle. He is a fierce hunter who patrols the heavens with eyes that discern the smallest movement of his prey. When the time is right he swoops in with sudden ferocity, captures the object of his attention, and devours his catch at his own leisure until it is time to hunt again.

Obviously, they misunderstood President Bush, and they didn't hear Benjamin Netanyahu's testimony before Congress this week! Netanyahu: "Arafat is the original terrorist."

"There are different ways of fighting against terrorism and it must be the subject of consultations" among Arab countries, the head of the 22-country grouping told reporters.

Arab states, including the Arab League, have had decades to deal with the terrorist problem, and the silence of their inaction is deafening.

Current protestations to the contrary, they have consciously encouraged and supported the terrorism.

Having a conversion of the eve of payback will not fool the majority of informed Americans who are not as dumb as bricks.

"Clearly, we would never accept a strike against an Arab country, no matter what the circumstances," he said.

He seems to be saying that the arab countries are unified and monolithic. But others tell me not to judge all arabs by the actions of the terrorists. Oh, my...I'm so confused! What ever shall I believe????

The story now is, the persons who were taking over the controls of the kamikaze jetliners had stolen and assumed the identities of Arabs who had been murdered. Pretty sophisticated, considering the murderers, and the identity thieves, where themselves Arabic.

If the Arab League continues to defend the presence of these criminals, they are themselves guilty of the charge of aiding and abetting criminal activity. Maybe not illegal in the Arabic courts, but d*mned sure illegal here under English common law. The crime was done here in the US of A. Hand them over for trial. Or stand trial yourself. If the accused does not show up voluntarily, then the sheriff is coming after you.

All arab nations know that the end of terrorism will mean the end of their own terror tactics against Jews, Christians and women in their own territories.

"What part of "war" don't you understand?" I suspect these guys are going to get the same conversation that Musharraf got: "You are with us or we'll carve you up and give you to your neighbors."
