A knife-wielding robber picked the wrong victim Sunday when he tried to hold up a man who is a trained kick-boxer, North Charleston police said.
The victim, 24, told police he was walking to his Crossroads Drive apartment at 12:40 a.m. when a man with a knife approached him and demanded cash. The victim kicked the knife out of the robber's hand and then punched him about the body, a police report said.
The robber swung at the victim, but the man jammed the suspect's right elbow. The robber ran off holding his arm, claiming it was broken, police said.
Police are still looking for the robber.

Uh-oh. I hope the kick-boxer has a good lawyer. I smell "lawsuit" over the broken arm.

When 'victims' win, EVERYBODY wins. Next time anit-gun people spout off, everybody should remember that.

Where's the statement from the police public relations officer telling us that this was not the safe way to handle the situation?

The victim kicked the knife out of the robber's hand and then punched him about the body, a police report said. That's strange. I would have punched him about the knife and the threat. That must have been some really offensive body.

The knife was already gone, so standard boxing doctrine is to cut off the air supply by bruising the lungs and chest muscles, and breaking ribs. 'Tis kind of hard to continue the fight if you can't breathe.
