Snipped Text from Bush "Pep Talk" to CIA Today
But those of us on the front lines of this war must never forget September 11th. And that includes the men and women of the CIA. We must never forget that this is a long struggle, that there are evil people in the world who hate America. And we won't relent. The folks who conducted to act on our country on September 11th made a big mistake. They underestimated America. They underestimated our resolve, our determination, our love for freedom. They misunderestimated the fact that we love a neighbor in need. They misunderestimated the compassion of our country. I think they misunderestimated the will and determination of the Commander-in-Chief, too. (Applause.)

Is it possible no one has told him that "misunderestimate" isn't a word? All he has to do is smirk whenever he slips up and everyone will think he's trying to be funny. I want him to succeed so badly, and I cringe when stuff like this happens. I saw this live, and I think he never used underestimate at any time. I think the transcriber wrote it how it should have been twice and then realized Bush wasn't saying that and wrote what he actually said.

This was so embarrassing, I cringed when I heard it. I mean, really. I guess I misunderestimated his media team, if they'll let him go out talking like that, and misunderpronouncing the same wrong word three or four times in one paragraph.
Ai-yi-yi.

President Bush is just trying to streamline our language, see. Rather than say both "misunderstand and underestimate", he has effectively halved the speech time, allowing him to say more with less. :)

"Is it possible no one has told him that "misunderestimate" isn't a word?"I bet it'll become a word now.
To: GraniteStateConservative
If it isn't a word, it SHOULD be!

After he kicks some butt we'll get him an English coach. Some of the people who are most dangerous to the country have a perfect command of the language.

President Harding's invented word "normalcy" (for normality) has become part of the language.

Actually, there is no reason why it can't be a word. "mis-" means wrongly or badly, and combined with underestimate, means they wrongly underestimated the U.S.
Works for me.
To: GraniteStateConservative
Its a word now.
To: GraniteStateConservative
"Misunderestimate" means to not only underestimate, but to make the mistake of underestimating.

W has accomplished more in 8 months as president than Grifter x42 did in 8 years because the Rats misunderestimated him...

Tenet couldn't find the sugar cube in his tea. Retire him and get a strong director of central intelligence.

Maybe his sending coded messages or messing with the heads of those in the Taliban. I can see the Taliban interpreters now, scurring for their dictionaries trying to find out what "misunderestimated" means in Farsi or what ever the hell their language is.
