America will not be trifled with, we will not be attacked with impunity, we will not sit by and watch our innocent civilians slaughtered. Let none doubt that our resolve is fixed, our determination is set ... we will have retribution. Although it will be a just retribution, it will be a lasting retribution, it will be a terrible retribution and it will be a pointed retribution that the world will not soon foget ... meted out on those animals, those terrorsits who so infamously attacked us on September 11, 2001 ... and on anyone who harbors or abets them!
As America prepares, as we gether our strength, as we prepare our supply lines, as we put all of the pieces in place ... let the following images send the message to the world, and particularly our enemies. America's response is coming! We ready ourselves for combat and retribution. Our enemies should ready themselves to die.

I tried for the National Guard, too. Their limit is age 35. Can someone here post if they find out anybody that will take 44-year olds?

These are great pictures Jeff, but please be aware that a full-scale ground assault by special forces troops to take down Bin Laden and his top people may not happen until next Spring. The Afghan winter starts early (in about three weeks) and is extremely severe, so we may just have to soften them up until next April. You may see more of a siege of Afghanistan starting this fall that will cut off the terrorists' supplies of food, fuel, and ammunition. The final takedown may not happen until April 2002. As intelligence-gathering proceeds, I think we are finding that Bin Laden has more soldiers than we thought and they are dug in much deeper than we thought. Check out Paul Wolfowitz's statement from yesterday.

Hate to be a wet blanket, but these are not all "recent" images. The carrier deck shots show aircraft in the old pale gray/white markings that haven't been used since the '80's.

TITLE 32 - NATIONAL GUARD
Sec. 313. Appointments and enlistments: age limitations
(a) To be eligible for original enlistment in the National Guard, a person must be at least 17 years of age and under 45,
or under 64 years of age
and a former member of the Regular Army, Regular Navy, Regular Air Force, or Regular Marine Corps.
To be eligible for reenlistment, a person must be under 64 years of age.
I just turned 53 with 3 years in Navy '66-'69
HOWEVER Oregon National Guard told me their policy is they will only take you if you can,
with your prior military, complete 20 years before you turn 60.

I know, but the troops are in transit, the implements are being ready, and something will begin fairly soon I believe.
Maybe we'll take him out before then ... we'll just have to see.
Will be interesting to see if the Northern Alliance holds the old Ruskie airbase, and if we use it.
