[history]
Always a lover of words, Laura Bush is finding that her own carry more weight than she could have imagined just weeks ago. Last Tuesday she was in New York City and left a bouquet of sunflowers tied with a red-white-and-blue ribbon at a midtown fire station that had lost half its men.

I agree with you comment - what a patronizing tone this article has!

went to dinner at a Tex-Mex place in Arlington, VaDoes anyone know if this was Rio Grande Cafe? In Texas it is called Uncle Julios. Just curious as my husband and I made a point to eat there when we visited D.C. a few years back. It has to be the same group as they would have some of the best Tex Mex there.

Note "MY" study of First Couples. Yes we can learn from Eleanor Roosevelt - how to infiltrate Communists into the federal government, how to keep a lesbian lover in the White House while hubbie is playing with his mistress, how to have a bunch of dysfunctional kids. One son was kept on a string by Joe Kennedy.
This is apparently a true story. FDR hated to be interrupted at meetings and Eleanor loved to make him mad. She burst into one of his meetings gushing about her doctor's appointment. "The doctor said I have the body of a young woman." FDR said, "What did he say about that big fat ass of yours?" Eleanor said, "Your name never came up during the appointment." She breezed out of the room.
Funny how much Hillary wanted to be like mudslide-face!

Nothing like putting undue pressure on some body. Mrs. Bush is under no obligation to prove herself or jump through the hoops these communists want to set for her. As big a disgrace as they are and still they don't have the good grace to keep their mouths shut.
Can you imagine the horror if Hillary were still first lady?
To: MissAmericanPie
I think Laura Bush has been a great First Lady, even before the attacks. Her personality is being revealed to the stupid media now, because they had blinders on and were dazzled by the previous one (how can PIAPS dazzle ANYONE?) I am so glad the Bushes are in the White House. It is about America and saving freedom and lives, not about the stupid Clintons.

Apparently only Democrat President's wives are strong and help their husbands out. Blech. The reporterette, Kati Marton, is an ex-wife of Peter Jennings. She's also well known for her affair with Richard Cohen, Washington Post columnist.
So we shouldn't be surprised she worships only about Dem First Ladies. Funny she didn't mention how "strong" Hitlery was during her husband's "crises," though, isn't it?

Oooooh, thanks for the information. And I did notice the absence of any mention of Hillary (thank heavens.)

Even so, you can tell she's head and shoulders above Hitlery.

Have enjoyed her public service announcements. She looks so natural and at ease. Very comforting and reassuring.
To: jhofmann
The article was written by the ex-wife of Peter Jennings, so she's not exactly a Dittohead.
To: gumbo
Isn't she also currently married to Richard Holbrooke (X-42's U.N. Ambassador)?
To: TXBubba
TxBubba, I read on another thread that the restaurant is called "El Paso" owned by Jorge Salinas. He was quite thrilled with the President's visit and had only gotten a one hour heads-up from the secret service.
The President's friends had tequilla and margaritas and the President had non-alcoholic O'Douls. You know, Texans can't go too long without their TexMex fix.
To: Utah Girl
Forgot to mention, Kati Marton is also associated with ex-U.N. ambassador Richard Holbrooke, another Clintonite.
She and Holbrooke may be married now, I'm not sure. Hate to be a gossipmonger, but like George Stephanopoulos used to say, "consider the source."

The ONLY thing any of those liberal yentas have in common with First LADY Laura Bush is that they're anatomically female...but I wouldn't bet the farm on that as far as Eleanor is concerned.

Just think, when time came for Clinton to pay back the homosexual block of voters with a gaylah dinner at the White House, he and Hillary had to be out of town and the guest were served by butlers with blue surgical gloves on, can you imagine the shock of the guests?
If Clinton were still in office I can imagine him inviting Ben Ladin and crew to a gala dinner, and the butlers serving dinner in bio/chemical suits.

Ya know, Nancy Reagan was incredibly strong when President Reagan was shot, when he had colon cancer, then prostate and skin cancer, also when she had her bout with breast cancer. Barbara Bush was her usual rock solid self during the Gulf War... I'd say those were pretty serious times for First Ladies too. Laura Bush, like President Bush, is the perfect person for that position at this terrible time. We know where their hearts and loyalties are, we know they aren't going to sell out the country.

Thanks. I'll have to put that on the list if we ever get back that way. BTW Rio Grande/Uncle Julios is a private chain. I think they have 5 restaurants around the country now. The one in Chicago is called La Hacienda. Highly recommend them to anyone who likes Tex Mex.
