Clinton Apologizes for Not Finding AIDS Cure

Former President Bill Clinton apologized for not finding a cure for AIDS, during a sharp exchange with an AIDS activist who accosted him at a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) awards dinner in Washington on Saturday.

The encounter was captured on tape exclusively by CNSNews.com.

After accepting an award from the black caucus, Clinton mingled with an enthusiastic crowd, signing autographs and posing for pictures. As throngs of people crowded around, one of them - AIDS activist Wayne Turner - accused Clinton of failing to make AIDS a priority during his administration.

Turner, a member of the Act Up homosexual advocacy group, told Clinton, "My lover Steve Michael died," and he blamed Clinton for not following through on a campaign promise to launch a "Manhattan project" against AIDS.

As a nonplussed Clinton tried to defend his administration's AIDS record, Turner frequently interrupted him.

"Listen," Clinton pleaded with Turner. "Will you listen to me?"

Turner criticized Sandy Thurman, Clinton's former AIDS czar. A disbelieving Clinton responded, "You don't think Sandy Thurman is a real AIDS czar? I am really sorry. I think that is really very sad."

"We made an all out effort...we got more money out of the Republican Congress --" Clinton said before being interrupted.

"Where is the cure, Mr. Clinton? You lied, you lied --," shouted Turner. Clinton replied "I am sorry you lost your lover. I am sorry we didn't find a cure."

"I got every single penny for AIDS research I could get, and the average life expectancy of people with AIDS has gone way up," he added.

The heated exchange went on for several minutes, with Secret Service agents trying to keep Clinton away from the protester.

Several times during the confrontation, Secret Service agents admonished a reporter to stop taping the exchange, even grabbing at the microphone.

After the encounter, Turner told \b CNSNews.com that "Bill Clinton promised in 1992 an all-out effort to find a cure for AIDS, he promised an AIDS czar, he promised a Manhattan project. He never followed through, and I plan to haunt him until the day he dies." ">

You would think that activist would have been more concerned about the following:

He never followed through"

Give X42 a break. Looking for whores and places to sell US secrets takes a LOT of time.

And here I had thought that this blowhard had run out of things to apologize for.

Has he apologized for the Second World War yet? Or the Arno flood that hit Florence in 1966? The Mexico City earthquake in 1985? Mt St Helens? El Nino? Of course Bill tried to cure AIDS, but I won't hold it against him.He solved so many other problems, didn't he?

He's a cheap vaudville act.

Somebody needs to get names and ID numbers for these agents who are sooo quick to put the kibotz on the First Amendment!!! Clinton WAS NOT, IS NOT, and NEVER WILL BE KING!!! There should be no regulations upon taping his comments in an Open Forum!!

Slick Willie, yer a weak whore...and I look forward to working with other Righteous Individuals to see that you die in a lonely Prison Cell, from AIDS or whatever!!

He never followed through, and I plan to haunt him until the day he dies.

Somehow I doubt it, given the likley life expectancy of this guy.
