Laura Bush on CNN Larry King 10/2/2001... (Tear alert)
CNN | 10/02/2001 | Larry King

Posted on 10/02/2001 8:04:26 PM PDT by CJacobs

Laura Bush was on Larry King. I RARELY watch CNN (Communist News Network), but last night I did because they had Laura Bush on the program.

I will take some literal liberties to tell the story as I heard it, so it may not be 100% correct, but the events as told by Ms. Bush are true...

Larry King asked Ms. Bush what was the most touching moment she can remember. She explained that her and the President went to a local Washington hospital to visit the burn victims from the Pentagon attack. Some of these soldiers had 3rd degree burns over most of their bodies and it hurt for them to make even the slightest body movements.

When they entered the room, the classic military announcement for an officer entering the room was made, "Attention". When the soldiers recognized that it was the President of the United States of America, these men, despite their severe burns, stood out of their beds, came to attention, and saluted the President.

When she speaks, I feel like I'm being hugged. However, there's something about her that leaves no doubt, she would be willing to gut Osama Bin Laden with a hunting knife herself were she given the opportunity. Sort of like a Mother Cat. All purrs, and comforting, but screw with the kittens and Goodnight Irene!

Her appearance on Larry King was marred only by that Afghani Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan. My mom always said, "When a kid is old enough to ask you to change their diaper, it's time for potty training." Likewise, when the Taliban is on Larry King, spinning to the American Public, it's time to drop a bomb. I'm continuing to rabidly support my President, but I'm growing increasingly impatient...

I missed it so thanks for covering for us.

The military loves, trusts and respects our President. Unlike that "other" guy who preceded him.

If some reports are true, the Taliban is coming unglued without a shot being fired yet. Gotta love that.

Oh, gosh.....I am sure that Dubya felt terrible when he saw that. He would not want them to do that. How very compassionate Laura is.

The Clintons would not have seen it this way...they would have expected it. They wanted to be the center of attention no matter what.

I didn't hear about the "standing", but I did hear that one of the men in bed was burned too badly to move, and he s l o w l y raised his arm and began to salute President Bush.

Bush, recognizing the pain the man was going through, saluted HIM and HELD THE SALUTE until the man managed to get his hand and arm up to salute his Commander In Chief.

It's SO nice to have a man with character, in the White House!

Somehow she's just a bit more easy to believe than the last occupant of that seat when she talks about her concern for children.

Toni Snow was hosting the Rush show today, and he seemed pretty adimit that Clinton will soon be forced to publically face the effects of his lax forign policy he had during his administration.
Clinton did everything he could to avoid doing anything important for this country.
He was too busy fighting for Democrat support programs.
Toni did a great job exposing Clinton for what he has done to this nation and how all this came from the Clinton regime.
It was great.
Those men should not be lying in the hospital right now.
It could have been avoided long before it happened.

MRS. BUSH

She is not a feminist, and she is married.

"I agree with Ms. Bush... This had to be one of the most touching moments..."

Believe the afternoon that they were visiting these injured and suffering; Bill Clinton was making 'nice' with the ladies.. .for the cameras not far from 'Ground Zero'. Lib media got 'warm fuzzies' that he was there before President.

BTW, Laura probably did not want to over-expose GW on this private and personal tour, but the story, re-told on the radio and from a Nurse who had shared this . . .was that, President Bush went over and held the hand of one badly burned soldier. . .he then stood at the bottom of his bed, looked at him and gave 'salute'.

This boy, then struggled, determined to return the salute; it took a few minutes; but President Bush never moved; he held his salute until the man was able to salute him back. . .and then left with tears in his eyes.

Incredible what George Bush does, without a camera; true measure of a man. (Can we even imagine Clinton/Hillary or even Algore doing same. . .)

Thank God our country has moved from trash to treasure. . .and God Bless President Bush.

That's a no brainer. Who'd want to mary a waco feminist? UGH! It would be like living with the wicked witch of the west!

Thank God we have patriots like that who have endured the dark years of the Clinton era.

But shame on Bill Clinton for enacting policies that made this tragedy practically inevitable.

And shame on the dumbed-down Television Zombie public that to this day lets a Godless scum snake oil salesman adulterous rapist lying disgrace to humanity to destroy US policy and still persist in public media as some sort of celebrity, no different from OJ or Condit in reputation but still celebrated, still given the camera and the mike.

While in office Clinton took the rope-a-dope strategy he had perfected in his political life, "yeah, I did a little bit of that, not all of it... let's talk about definitions" - grant your opponents everything it'll keep em off guard - and allowed this corrupt method to seep into our foreign policy. "Here China, have our secrets..." "Here Osama, hit one of our things we'll miss two of yours" as if somehow you can just giving away the game might miraculously work for America in foreign policy as it did for Ali in Boxing and Clinton in the defense of his adultery.

We at Free Republic know the bitter frustration that we had spotting this failure for what he was early on - round about 1992 in many cases. And yelling at the top of our lungs for our fellow citizens to take note of his failed leadership and failed policies. Moral disgrace in office, involvement in wars we had no reason to be in (i.e. Yugoslavia), superficial and theatrical involvement in real wars (i.e. vs. Osama Bin Laden).

Sadly, now we get to endure the fact that this man still shows up in public and they actually put it on the TV screen. America should insist that Clinton is shamed out of public life.

Thank God that it wasn't Clinton in office when this happened, because I think they would not be standing to salute, rather they'd be rushing to deck him.

I read about that too, cricket - quite moving, and a huge measure of our president. Unlike his predecessor, his tears are real.

I hardly think a man with 3rd degree burns over *most of his body* would be able to stand, let alone salute. I worked in a burn unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital years ago and unless technology has really advanced this far, I think this story is padded.

Thanks to the freepers, I am watching the rerun of this right now! Laura Bush is a wonderful First Lady. Her compassion for others is evident, and her calm serene manner is comforting to all. What a great lady!

And she is not consummed by blind ambition. And she is not obsessed with everything being about her. What a nice change. Even Hillary Clinton must recognize real class when compared to her own sorry persona.

On TV the other day they showed a minute or so of Clinton with Dole. Clinton said his normal stuff and there was nothing noteworthy about it and Susan Estrisch (sp?) smiled with a dreamy look in her eyes, paused and said, "he is soooo good."
