Because that was the plan. The independent cell is being hunted and may have been put off balance, but that doesn't make them less dangerous.

Bin Laden thought that Bush would react like Clinton(i.e basing military decisions on polls), but once that didn't happen, the other cell was put off balance.

They may believe they are well enough hidden. If the "cell" has been in the country long enough, their tracks are now well covered.

Also, the third world sympathy for these people will be much, much greater if they do it only in response to our attack. Two hits from them without a response from us would not be viewed sympathetically. All the idiots running around demanding "peace" and "no war" would be thoroughly debased if they hit us again without any attack from us. The terrorist need these "useful idiots" to further their cause. It would be foolish for the terrorist to effectively silence them.

Sure they are being hunted but how do they find them? They have the perfect camoflauge, they blend into an American city well. If they have no ties to the previous attacks no one knows who or where they are. They could be on the FBI watch list but how would anyone know?

It would seem logical that there is more than ONE cell ready for the second wave.

If the 2nd cell has no need of financial contacts or for the receipt of orders from its superiors, there may be no way to detect it. But, for that to be the case, they may be under instructions only to act when some event happens. That event might be an attack on Afghanistan. Hence the cell's current inaction.

For them to be able to receive further instructions from their superiors would be a source of vulnerability and possible detection.

If I were being hunted, I'd be pretty paranoid. I wouldn't KNOW who or what to believe. One happy thought I have is that the 'sleepers' cannot be sleeping well.

I hope America has an opportunity to give them a 'permanent' sleeping pill. Maybe one marked .40, 9mm, or 10mm in lead!?

Maybe it's time to think 'internment camps' for ME'ers who have been here 5 yrs or less. Granted it's a nasty thing...but then, so is the idea that the terrorists have been given aid/comfort/privileges WITHIN this country.

This IS a war. It's a war that is NOT over 'there'. It's a war that is right in our backyards. Those animals have taken FULL advantage of American ideals, and the American way of life to SUCCEED in their plots. It's high time that they be subjected to a revoking of those American perks. No more innocent until proven guilty, no speedy trials, no upright decency. Slam 'em in a camp and take a looong time to bring them to trial. Let Bush wipe out the overseas terrorists, while the captives camp out, and watch their reactions.

Another thing that's been overlooked, is the prison population. A large percentage of prisoners, convert to islam/muslim beliefs. The US is locking up the leaders of those wacky ideas. Setting up the 'perfect' terrorist cells.

I wonder how much cooperation the FBI is getting from US-resident Muslims from Middle-Eastern/Central Asian countries in locating these other cells?
