October 6, 2001 -- City University's chancellor and trustees will officially denounce the professors' union for sponsoring a teach-in that degenerated into an anti-American rally, a spokesman for the trustees said yesterday.
He said they will endorse a statement by Chancellor Matthew Goldstein saying there's "no sympathy for the voices . . . who seek to justify or make lame excuses for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon with arguments based on ideological or historic circumstances."

There should be no traitors on the city payroll. The city council should pass a resolution to revoke the tenure of traitors and the legislature can pass a resolution to revoke the bar license of anyone who takes their case.

The concept of 'tenure' is the root of the problem. Where else in the country, except maybe U.S. civil service, can a person have a lifetime job?
I say, make professors earn their positions continually; never let them earn tenure.

The far-left in this country hate the US much more than they hate the actions of the terrorists. It's about time more and more people are seeing that.

One of the speakers at Tuesday's City College forum, a math teacher named Walter Daum There is no reason a math teacher should need tenure. A math teacher was hired to teach math, not political science.

AFSCME freaks helped organize the anti-America protest in DC last weekend. Fire them all.

Daum is an unreconstructed Communist whose book "The Life and Death of Stalinism" has been reviewed favorably by those of his ilk.

Ditto to Vigilanteman and TaxGovernment. Tenure is an obsolete concept in a competitive society. Instead of passing resolutions, the trustees should act to move these vermin off the public payroll.

We need to refer to these people as the Hate America crowd. They reflexively take the side of any enemy that comes along.

One of the remarkable things in recent weeks has been the way academics have revealed exactly where they stand (hint: it's not with their country). And they are doing so with a virulence that is really stunning.
Tenure is definitely one of the things that lets them get away with this, but so is the passivity of the many people and institutions that give money to the universities, either in the form of government money or in the form of tuition. Why should parents pay to send their children to places where they will be taught by people who hate everything about them and their country? Why should the State of New York continue to subsidize this garbage? Tenure is definitely the thing that keeps these people in place. But financial pressure on the universities would somehow make tenure - well, something they might finally have the guts to reexamine.

I don't want to do away with tenure (it can be as important for
our side) but we can do what the Japanese do when they have a useless employee.
Give them no duties but make them sit in an office looking out the window for 8 hours to pick up a paycheck.

University liberals! They have never known, throughout the years, how inappropriate they had become. Inappropriate to freedom, inappropriate to "education." It took this attack to put them in high relief. The whole world is now watching with horror as the American university Left, the world's last stronghold of communism, shoots itself in the foot every time it goes public. All the centrists and moderates have swung back to America, even the media with weeping Rathers and praising Lettermen have swung back. But the universities, environmentalists and a few others are hanging out there with hate-America rhetoric that is putting them on display in ways they never foresaw. In the past these remarks would have been applauded inside the vacuums they live in. In the past the media would have hailed them as intellectuals. Now they are twisting in the wind. Shocked at the coverage they are getting.
