For Immediate Release October 11, 2001
|
Washington D.C. FBI National Press Office
|
Certain information, while not specific as to target, gives the government reason to believe that there may be additional terrorist attacks within the United States and against U.S. interests overseas over the next several days. The FBI has again alerted all local law enforcement to be on the highest alert and we call on all people to immediately notify the FBI and local law enforcement of any unusual or suspicious activity.

Hasn't it been this way for the last month?
Or are they preparing US for something horrible?
Do they have a clue, and will they tell US what?

There has been quite a bit of discussion on the file name. Frankly, I am extremely curious. I have been poking around the net to see what I could find in terms of a "skyfall" reference. I don't think the FBI would release the alert with a "chicken little" reference. It might be a code word used by the FBI that slipped through or it may just be a word picked by the webmaster. Alternatively, it may have to do with the nature or source of the threat. All this is speculation. To that end, I found some interesting "skyfall" references on the net. I have included one such reference below.
I want to stress that there is absolutely no evidence that the file name used by the FBI has anything to do with this site. I just thought it was interesting.
SKYFALL by Harry Harrison, Copyright 1978 by Harry Harrison, Published by ACE BOOKS
DISCUSSION
SKYFALL deals with the threat of a nuclear satellite's malfunction causing damage and loss of life to Earth's inhabitants. Such a scenario appeared as a threat in 1979 with the descent of Skylab. Though nuclear impact was not the case with Skylab, the mass which could descend on a populated area caused concern to the world's population. There was much relief when the makeshift American space station (modified Apollo hardware) fell harmlessly into the Indian Ocean with a few of the larger pieces reaching a thinly populated area near Perth, Australia.
The cover artwork of SKYFALL is a magnificent rendering of a Soviet rocket cluster. Rather than wait for the development of an enormous rocket engine like the American F-1 (1,500,000 pounds of thrust), the Soviets expertly clustered smaller thrust systems to quickly achieve the lifting power necessary to loft a man into orbit. An example of Soviet rocket technology can be viewed by clicking here.

it was named skyfall.htm, but was changed sometime late afternoon. I am sure some webmaster is getting some heat over it.

That's interesting. This stuff (isolated anthrax cases, "skyfall" name) is just all too bizarre.

SKY LAB! LOL! I remember street vendors selling "SkyLab" yellow hard hats. Maroons.
Now, I am the maroon. They would be collectors items today: if I had some I could cash in.
EVERYONE was worried pieces of SkyLab would fall on their heads, in their yards -- whatever.
Austrailian outback got a couple large chunks. What dopes we were, er -- still are.

I have noticed that the news reports and during the President's speech tonight that the reference was to "or". The FBI alert specifically says within the United States and interests abroad.

Interestingly enough, I just checked and "skyfall" is the Swedish word for "cloudburst". Hmmmmmm.....
