Northern Alliance Sees Images Of 9/11 For First Time
MSNBC
Posted on 10/12/2001 8:16:49 AM PDT by Dirk McQuickly
MSNBC reporter brings images of 9/11 destruction to Northern Alliance soldiers -- most of whom never knew why we were bombing the Taliban, never saw the carnage bin Laden bestowed on our nation. Their reactions: Stunned. One points to the image of a body falling from WTC, and they're speechless. They now know why bin Laden must go.

Intriguing report. These guys were appalled at the images of 9/11. They were empathetic. They understand treachery. Hopefully, it further steels their resolve. They may become our angels in the breech.

Good news for us. Now, let's get this information to the other anti-American protesters in Pakistan and elsewhere. I'll bet most don't know what happened here either.

Maybe? We should drop a few Pics along with the propaganda leaflets. That would get the picture across to all those that seem to not know why were bombing them.
To: Dirk McQuickly
I'm surprised they would be speechless after seeing those images. After the war against the Russians and internal fighting, they've surely seen violent death before.

I'd settle for our own HOME-grown traitors changing their tune when confronted with these images.
Instead we see these traiterous scumbags pontificating their usual cow dung.
A reckoning will come, some day, when we're finished with terrorist trash in other countries, we'll clean house.

Hard to imagine that anyone on this planet with access to a TV set didn't see the footage. Yeah, the jumpers got to me too. Also that close up of those folks on the floors above the fire who (I assume) busted out the windows for oxygen. I don't think there can be anything more frightening this side of the Judgement seat.

Not like 9-11.
We should include a photo montage of the WTC hits, including the doomed leaning out of windows and jumping, along with all of our leaflet drops.

I know. But I think the image of America as a place of safety from this kind of treachery resonates around the world. They may have seen even more horrific actions in their battles, but it's gotta be jarring to see it in America, no matter where you're from. The audacity of this attack is unprecedented in size and design.

Yeah, the jumpers got to me too.Tell me about it. If I had been any closer, they literally would have gotten me. I realize that might come off as disrespectful or irreverant, but it's not. What I saw that day haunts me in nightmares every night, and probably will for the rest of my life.

One thing troubles me about the Northern Alliance. I heard on the radio that the reason we are not bombing Taliban dug-in positions is because our "allies" the Pac's don't like the Alliance and don't want them to take Kabul. I wonder if this is true?

Yeah, but I don't think these soldiers on the battlefront have cable tv. They were pretty gritty looking and were poring over the images. That's the most horrifying image of the attack -- people in the window frames -- someone must have looked at that picture and seen a loved one -- horrifying for the victims -- horrifying for the survivors. I don't think I could jump. I would probably draw in as much smoke as possible to go unconscious before the flames got to me... God bless their souls...

Food for thought...

Bingo! No electricity = no TV = wholesale ignorance!
Take another look at those camps - do you see any electical wiring? How 'bout plumbing?

You've got a friend in downtown Chicago -- I can't fathom what you witnessed upfront. I'm a block from Sears, and walking past it is an experience in and of itself. The concrete barriers are there now, but they've just added a slew of cops out front today. Getting in just to grab a bite to eat takes fifteen minutes -- they take your driver's license to go to the mall. They take your picture for permanent i.d. if you visit the tower on business. I will intercede for you in my prayers, that you will overcome those haunting images...

The same situation was observed with the Communist Chinese. In the initial hours of the WTC attack, many Communist Chinese chat rooms (which tends to give a good indication of popular opinion) on the net felt that the US deserved the attack because of our intrusive foreign policy. However their tone changed when video images were available to them. Despite politics, most people have an instinct about good and evil. What they saw appalled them to the point that their chat messages changed within hours of the available images.

This doesn't surprise me. The majority of people in these countries don't have television. There are two classes of people. The wealthy and the poor. There is no middle class. I'm not talking just Afghanastan. I'm talking the whole Arab world. Most don't even have electricity.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Keep the pictures away from them, have you're controlled press ( most can't read or write) and tell them anything and what to you have? Anti-American demonstrations in the street. All news is spread by the grapevine.

My dear girl, I read much of what you posted those days after, even worried about you (and others) as you must have read the 'missing freepers?' threads.
There were things you posted that made me sit at my desk and cry. I could find little to reply to you that would console you or help, everytime I came across your screename I read and re-read what you had to say. I prayed for you and continue to do so.
Obviously what I saw were mere 2 dimensionaly images and can not compare to being there. Not that it makes any difference at all to you, I spent the entire weekend afterward glued to my computer searching the internet for pictures. It actually became an obsession, not for any thrill let me tell you. I don't understand what came over me. I was a zombie with only an hour of sleep here and there. I'm not a sick person, I don't even like horror flicks or even "celebrate" halloween. Thank God I finally snapped out of it the following week; I was becoming afraid for my mental health. Last night as a matter of fact was the first night I slept for more than 4 hours straight.
Again, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the torrent you continue to endure. If I knew of a way to lighten your burden I would do so in a heartbeat.
Take care of yourself and may God show you his mercy.

We lived in Morocco for two years and Morocco is a fairly modern county as far as Arab countries go.
When we lived there the average income for a Moroccan family was a couple hundred dollars a year.
