Many are speculating about why radical Muslim terrorists hate America so passionately. It's an important question that needs to be addressed, but not primarily for the reasons some may think.

Right after the Sept. 11 attacks, the peaceniks were the first to raise the issue. "We should examine the root causes for the tragedy," they said. "Perhaps if we could better understand the 'alleged' attackers, we could address their concerns and eliminate the terrorist threat."

I think he is saying that the hatred goes back to very early in Bin Laden's life, so deep and early that it is a part of who he is, his identity, something unlikely to change. There may be a genetic basis disposing us to suspect and hate of strangers and for favoring people like us, but not for hatred of specific groups (no gene for anti-Semitism, anti-Americanism, etc.) Also, just because there may be a statistical genetic propensity for a trait does not mean everyone shows it or that it cannot be moderated in those who do.
