Thousands attend march in Gaza against Palestinian Authority
Thousands of people joined a Gaza funeral procession Monday for a man killed in a pro-Osama bin Laden demonstration, in what amounted to the biggest protest ever by Palestinians against their governing authority.
"We tell all those corrupt members of the Palestinian Authority, your turn to be punished is approaching," the crowd shouted in unison, thrusting fists in the air. The streets of Gaza overflowed with mourners honoring Haitham Abu Shamaleh, 19, who died Saturday from gunshot wounds sustained during last week's demonstration.
He was one of three Palestinians who lost their lives in the protest after gunfire erupted. Families of the dead and human rights groups said Palestinian police had shot them. Police said masked gunmen were to blame. To avoid a repetition of the bloodshed, police stayed off the streets of Gaza as the enraged mourners approached the Islamic University area where the violence had erupted.
The Abu Shamaleh family, one of the biggest clans in the Gaza Strip, has refused to receive condolences from Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, saying he must first punish his police chief for the killings. The families of the three dead have given the Authority two weeks to punish those responsible for the shootings or else face mass protests.
"We want the sovereignty of law to prevail, but if the Authority fails to enforce the laws, the clans will," Fayez Abu Shamaleh, whose clan numbers 7,000, told Reuters. The Palestinian Authority said it had arrested three men from among the protesters who had fired at police and the crowd. It also decided to set up a board of inquiry, whose members are to be appointed after Arafat returns from a trip to London this week.
In Khan Yunis, gunmen shot in the air in a show of defiance as Abu Shamaleh's body was taken for burial. IDF soldiers in a Jewish settlement about 500 meters away from the cemetery shot live fire, which wounded three mourners, witnesses said.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm It looks like they don't like ole' air e fat anymore.....tide's a turning
Completely self-destructive for them. It'd be like --- the IRA taking over London.
This report is suspect...how do you get thousands to chant such 'prose' in unison? Who choreographed this? Is it available on CD? Maybe it sounds better in their native tongue...
We see large crowds of anti-war protesters here in the US, but they are far from any majority. This sounds like a PR piece to me.
The PLO are terrorists. Always have been. Always will be.
And so, with Arafat.
This is ALL STAGED Arafat is a pawn of the CFR, along with Peres and Sharon. This kind of stuff has to happen to maintain the charade. The 'king of the anti-Jew terrorists' has to keep the good killer / bad killer pretence going for the global socialists in order to remain at the center of the overall strategy to drive the Zionist Jews from their ancient homeland.
silly man. Arafat is a pawn of the masons, who are in turn the puppets of the catholic church, who use them and trilateralists to deflect attention from the Jesuit stormtroopers- who are in fact lapsed Mormons in pay of the KGB, which means arafat, a VIP of the PLO, will be SOL PDQ, QUED.
ya know, every time the militia/libertarian/anarchy thing starts looking good...
If Yasser can't (or won't) reign them in, if they escalate their attacks on Israel, how deep is the water?
