I would like to know one thing from the 'experts'. They all talk about how difficult it is to aerosolize anthrax spores. Well, this might be true if a person was worried about catching it themselves.

But, consider the following....an open air football stadium filled with spectators. Terrorist (or two) in a private airplane swoop down before they can be intercepted (very possible), and take a 10lb bag of the stuff and hold it out the window and shake it all out.

I would think that a wind of 100-120mph would do a fine job of dispersion. Where am I going wrong? Or, how about the enclosed superdome during the superbowl? Anthrax in the air intake ducts would be dispersed I would think.

Are all the experts just pulling our legs?

The experts aren't experts.

I can see that the field of biological warfare is filled with speculation and bull roar. However, if the microbial agents were so difficult to disperse then no country would have massive biological warfare programs.

8. You should not try to get vaccinated nor buy antibiotics just in case. First, your chances of contracting the disease are less than getting hit by lightning or winning the lottery, so you would be wasting your money. Second, you are depleting the stores of antibiotics that are available to treat people who may end up having the illness or, much more likely, some other illness where they need that antibiotic. Finally, they will go bad over time and not be effective anyway. No responsible physician should be filling prescriptions to people who have not been exposed to anthrax, "just in case".

I found this from one of your links. I happen to hear bascially the same thing on the radio (KVI-Seattle) today on the way home from work. Someone should make sure Hollywood 'stars' hear the same advice.

On some program tonight I was soooo relived to hear Penny Marshall had her supply of Cipro already. We know hollywood is far more deserving than the rest of us American peons.

Makes me think of the goodwill of Babs Streisand and her words of wisdom about the energy crisis: everyone should hang their laundry to dry on a line outside (except her of course, someone might want a picture of her size 12 undies).
