Expert: Iron Your Mail to Kill Anthrax
Yesterday, Dr. Ken Alibek addressed members of Congressman Chris Shays' Terrorism Task Force, as well as members of the press.
He advised how mail should be handled: Iron it!
Alibek advised that the fabric of the ironing board or any cloth should be moistened. This helps produce additional steam.
Turn the iron at its hottest, with steam, and iron away -- just as you might with a shirt.
Alibek said if there is any anthrax inside, it will be rendered "harmless."
He did advise individuals not to use a microwave oven. Heat alone may not kill the anthrax spores, hence the need for steam from the iron and fabric.

This sounds like a good defense! Easier than trying to buy antibiotics!

Bleach works well too.

Sigh...one more household chore! I hate ironing!

I wish people were putting anthrax on clothing instead of in the mail, then maybe I could get my wife to iron my shirts.

Some expert on Fox said that to achieve the required temperatures, you'd end up destroying the paper itself and suggested that you not rely on this method.

Iron your ink printed envelopes with steam! Wow what a great idea...next to boiling your mail I guess!

I saw an expert on bio terrorism on Fox this morning. He said ironing won't work because the temperature must exceed 350 degrees F. He said there is no iron that can get that hot.

Not hot enough. Even a steam iron isn't hot enough.

The trick is to use liquid starch - mixed double strength.

BTW, Dr. Alibek is one who should know. He was a big wig in Soviet biological warfare research. He defected to the US in 1992 I believe.
On the other hand, maybe he's a double agent.

Treat your mail like hamburger. Just as the corrupt clinton administration would not make sure our meat was safe by requiring operators to have clean facilities, our government has not required INS to make sure foreigners entering this country are not terrorists, and criminals. They even want illegals to vote (democRAT of course) and for us to pay for medical and education clear through to college). So think of your mail as infected hamburger meat and be sure to kill all germs with heat.

Don't we have to wash it first? What type of soap do we use? Do we use the gentle cycle on the dryer? He needs to give us the complete instructions.
