Kevin Murphy sends us [Satellite News] this report on his doings and feelings during the recent terrorist attacks:
During the last week I was on the island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, watching it all happen via the BBC on the island's single TV channel. It's a deeply troubling feeling, being on the other side of the globe, being told that your country is in trouble but you can't fly back. Of course any discomfort I felt was several hundreds of decimal points less than that felt in New York and DC.
I think you should know that on this island, populated by perhaps a hundred American expats, a very kind Cook Islander hung a United States flag on the main road in Avarua, the tiny harbor town. Within hours the flag was adorned with mounds of flowers, letters and rememberances. A searchlight kept vigil by it through the night.
Crisis has no borders, sadness no race. -kwm

This is the kind of story the
real media might want to carry. Oh, wait, they'd have to admit that not everyone in the world
hates America...

I don't think there's been a decent show on TV since Quantum Leap/MST3K. Well, you can watch Enterprise because it stars the guy from Quantum Leap and would be a perfect subject for the MST3K treatment. :)

Hurrah for Tom Servo! (BTW, the single greatest MST3K episode is "The Starfighters" starring none other than B-1 Bob Dornan.)

Well, I'll be.
I am huge!! ;-)
Bless his big ol' heart. A truly funny, heartwarming guy with a great story. (And a helluva 'Servo' singin' voice)
Bump...

Pick any of the 'Hercules' movies or the ones with Lee Van Cleef in them. Or 'Pod People'. 'Daddy-O' was a riot...But Starfighters wasn't that great. 'Manos - Hands Of Fate' was better. Hell, 'Mitchell' was funnier - and it was Joel's last show...

Come on. The best one clearly was the Japanese sci-fi flick (the name of which I can't remember) starring the flying turtle with jet propulsion. After those three were through with that one, no one was left standing.

Ahhhh - a Gamera fan, huh? Yeah - those were pretty good. I think I'm gonna have to go back and watch the ones I have taped (all of seasons 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) and gauge 'em again. But I'll say this without equivocation. "Stranded in Space" was the best one ever.
Well, at least for now...;-)

No lie. I'd start watching, straightfaced, and within a few minutes just be wheezing and tearing up and slapping my knee. But my wife just thought it was dumb. I can't remember hardly any of the names -- the giant Gila monster one, where everyone put his knee up; the biker one; the Lee van Cleef ones. "Captain Johnny Long-torso"; "He seems like a nice young man" -- "AT FIRST!"; etc. Those guys were hysterical, and almost always clean.

They all pale in comparison to the holy trinity of MST3K:
Sidehackers
Mister "B" Natural
Catalina Caper
