It is imperative that we name September 11, 2001 after every single hero and victim of the Islamic terrorists on that bloody day, and make it a national day of remembrance in order to memorialize their sacrifice and make sure that our fallen ones are never forgotten. My wife Sherry and I have want to suggest a name for that day which so thoroughly blended terror and courage. The name chosen should be something promoted by all Freepers and all lovers of our noble America and the freedom it represents to us.
What name best represents the heroism of the rescuers who entered the Pentagon and the World Trade Center to rescue the innocent civilians who were victimized by the terrorist hijackers and at the same time captures the essence of the day on which thousands of innocent Americans were murdered? Why not name the day after the first thing one thinks of when one has a desperate emergency; the number we dial, 911 which so appropriately corresponds to the date of the attack; and, therefore, why not call it:
911 DAY
This name would commemorate the heroic passengers who tried to resist by fighting the hijackers or by calling anyone they could reach on their cell or air phones (especially our brave and beloved Barbara Olson), the innocents who were slaughtered and, above all, it would celebrate those emergency workers, firemen, police and EMTs who, putting their country and their duty and their fellow men above themselves, gave their everything in rescuing so many thousands by rushing into buildings that posed such imminent danger to, and ultimately claimed, their blessed lives.
All Freepers should call (and email) as many U.S. Representatives and Senators as we can (especially our own) and recommend that this day be named 911 Day. If you are pressed for time, just copy this post into your own email and send it to any officials you can. Recommend this as a Freeper, since this should be a Freeper-initiated movement.

he·ro [hr ] (plural he·roes) noun
2. remarkably brave person: somebody who commits an act of remarkable bravery or who has shown great courage, strength of character, or another admirable quality
Day of Courage
In rememberance of Heroes
carlin.
but i like the idea.
We can mourn on 9/11, but cheer on the Friday night, the Candle Night following.
PENN = plane crash in Pennsylvania
PENNT = phonetic first half of Pentagon
TRADE = you guessed it, World Trade Center
This would be appropriate if we wanted to follow the naming convention of December 7, 1941, which was named for the place of the attack.
I know that there was some early name like this given to the initial investigation. I think it was PENTTBOM.
What do you think?
