[history]
Editorial Page assistant Johanna Huden, at work in The Post's offices yesterday, noticed a "bug bite" on her right middle finger nearly five weeks ago. But a recent blood test found that the lesion had been an anthrax infection.

Ha ha!
New Yorkers are tough. They also sign up for military service in large numbers.
Bin Loadinpants beware, some of those special ops dudes looking for you are from New York. It's personal now.

5 weeks since the first sign appeared, before anything about anthrax was known.
This is scary stuff, I assume this is part of the 45-60 day process of coming down with it.
This story relates more as to the signs and onset of the infection, good post for bringing a realistic perspective of the disease.
Goodluck!

Yep, the N.Y. Post is a great newspaper ! We have it delivered everyday, but I do enjoy reading your posts, BEFORE i get my paper. LOL
That poor young wowman. I am so happy that they took her off the Augmentin ( that medicine, in that large a dosage , is worse than having Anthrax. ), got her on the Cipro , and that she's getting better.

NY Post bump!
Never pick a fight with a guy who buys his ink by the barrel.
Especially when it's the folks at the Post.

The other thing that concerns me is how so many doctors missed diagnosing this initially. No offense to the docs, but with necrotic tissue like that, they should have realized they were dealing with something very nasty right away.

LOVE that cover.
What is interesting is how long it took to get serious. More proof that even if you are exposed, you won't keel over dead. Further, this case shows that even if it isn't diagnosed properly you won't keel over dead.
Definately a bioTERRORIST tool rather than a bioMILITARY weapon. It's treatable and takes a long time to build. Good for scaring people. No great shakes for killing them.

This is one of the biggest morale boosting pics in the war yet. The terrorists definitely picked the wrong city to screw with.

Damn straight...New Yorkers are tough...I am a teacher in a junior high school in Brooklyn, NYC...the media keeps talking about how scared everyone is...guess what...the teachers here are teaching...the kids are being kids...neighbors stop on the street...we sometimes talk about Anthrax or bin Laden but it's not the panicked scenario painted by the media...we are handling this catastrophe with a mixture of gritty resolve and cautious anger...my heart breaks whenever I think of the WTC and the massive grave that it has become but I know that we will come out of this stronger than ever as a city and as a nation...GW and his team...Guiliani and his team...so many strong leaders giving voice to our feelings...God bless America.
P.S. Gotta love the NY Post.
