TOP TEAM MEMBERS RAISE ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING!
Most member of APLA's top fund raising teams fail to raise a single cent. Not one dollar. The top rating team was "Remembering Our Friends" with thirteen members. Eight of it's members did not raise a single dollar.
Other top five teams included: -
Viacom with thirty one members of whom twenty seven did not raise anything.
Brierley and Partners with thirty one members of whom only eight managed to raise any donations.
Hilton Hotels with fourteen members of which only five raised anything.
The statistics show AIDS donations come from a small group of AIDS fanatics and, while many people attend events like this for the social and 'bonding' reasons, they have no interest in raising funds for AIDS "charities". The public has either lost interest in AIDS or seen through the hype. Expect many charities to declare bankruptcy in the coming months.
Failure of the AIDS Walk cannot be blamed on Sept. 11th as large numbers turned up for the event but did not donate to APLA. With AIDS deaths now dropping off the chart the public has had enough of these vastly over funded charities. Read the story at: - http://www.aidsRC.org
We were told that 20 million people would be HIV positive by the year 2000 and yet the official figure now is only 650,000 (350,000 LESS than fifteen years ago). I wonder how so many people are contracting HIV when the totals keep dropping. Nu-maths I expect!
We were told condoms were protection and yet the CDC now has admitted that their own studies have proven the opposite.
We were told AIDS drugs were safe and yet the CDC itself now warns about their use.
In short, we were fed a pack of lies. PERIOD!!!
How much do you think a Walk-a-thon could raise for self-inflicted smoking related diseases?
AIDS, homosexuals, and intravenous drug users ...
Evolution in Action
End of sarcasm... You know you really don't do conservatives justice when you spew out crap like this thread. Maybe you don't even realize it, but you sound like you're celebrating the fact that AIDS research is being hampered by a lack of fundraising.
Maybe people with AIDS put their lives at risk by their own behavior. Have you never drank too much or driven too fast? Those things also put your life at risk, but nobody (except maybe a heartless and cynical ultra-conservative) would say it's a good thing that someone died in a car wreck because they were driving too fast or didn't wear their seatbelt.
People like you give normal conservatives, like me, a bad name. You're the reason more and more people are voting Democrat. People like you scare the hell out of more sensible thinking people.
As for the validity of fund-raising walkathons and such. I think there is a very legitimate place in a caring society for such events. Wouldn't you prefer private individuals raise funds for medical research rather than have all these research organizations lobby for government cash? I would.
And on that note, I am proud to say that I will be participating in the Music City Marathon next April and will be using the event to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma research in memory of my father, who passed away from Leukemia last March. Try telling me that's a stupid idea!
you sound like you're celebrating the fact that AIDS research is being hampered by a lack of fundraising.
The Fed Gov is pumping billions and billions in AIDS research. They are spending more on aids than on the research for any other disease. I don't believe that private funding is much of a factor in aids research. Given how so much of the private funding has been misused, I see it mostly as an end to a lucrative scam.
Are you saying the public was NOT fed a pack of lies because they knew the TRUTH would never get the funding they wanted??
There is more than one way to have a closed mind.
No, but at least we can honestly say, "Well, if they hadn't been driving so fast or had worn their seatbelt, they would still be alive."
A number of years back, at a civil service "AIDS in the workplace" mandatory "hugfest", one of the participants objected to my "AIDS AND HOMOSEXUALS: EVOLUTION IN ACTION" bumper sticker, saying "Having sex shouldn't be a death sentence". My reply was basically that leaping from a tall building shouldn't be one either, but gravity isn't going to listen to my complaints.
If people want to participate in dangerous acts, knowing the potential is out there for death or serious bodily harm, then they should be willing to face the consequences of their actions without picking my pocket to pay for their misjudgments.
By the way, did your father die from leukemia because of dangerous practices that he willingly involved himself in? As I believe the answer would be "No", then THAT is the major difference between AIDS and all other diseases. You have to actively and affirmatively seek out AIDS to be infected. It's no different than playing Russian Roulette and then complaining when the result leaves you a slobbering vegetable with no brain.
Thats an awfully racist comment in itself
