Abe Foxman: Language of U.S. state department was "nasty" (Photo: AP) |

The National Director of the Anti-Defamation League in the United States, Abe Foxman, blasted the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday for "issuing orders" to Israel to withdraw IDF troops from Palestinian-controlled cities in the West Bank.
"The language of the state department several days ago was nasty and issuing orders," Foxman said in an interview on Channel Two Television. "One country does not issue orders to a friend and ally especially [on issues] as critical as how to defend ones citizens from violence and attacks," he said.
When asked if the recent visit to Washington by Foreign Minister Shimon Peres had been successful in making the administration more tolerant of Israel's position, Foxman said: "The rhetoric has been lowered."
He said that although he believed talks behind closed doors "were a lot mellower and more understanding than the public pronouncements," he still felt that the official public pronouncements were problematic, "because publicly a disagreement of this nature between Israel and its friend the United States delivers the wrong message to the Arab world and certainly to the Palestinians."
Foxman said he believed the damage done to U.S.-Israel ties could be repaired. "The President can find opportunities to say things, so can the Secretary of State and I think that if we [the American Jewish community] continue to prod them, then it may happen," he said. "They [the Bush administration] want a united America, they want a united American Jewish community in support of the war on terrorism."
Foxman said that the nature of Israel's national unity government had at times resulted in multiple messages: "The bad thing [about the coalition] is that from time to time different voices speak on behalf of Israel. I believe there was a misunderstanding as to what Israel's mission was in going into the West Bank cities. Whether it was to topple [Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser] Arafat or whether it was to eliminate those who have been murdering Israelis," he said.
In order to overcome this problem, Foxman said Israel "should limit its communication to people with authority and not permit its ministers to be all over the place with all kinds of positions... It needs discipline, a lot more discipline than we've seen in the past." |

Foxman.
Isn't he the guy who took mega-bribes from U.S. fugitive Marc Rich and demanded Clinton pardon him--
because Rich did "so much" for Israel by cash payoffs ?
What an outstanding American !

If you think Americans are not entitled to have an opinion, one that is not in lock-step, you must be yearning to move to a Middle East dictatorship. I don't like Foxman but the last time I checked Irish folks who disagree with Bush are not charged with 'dual loyalty.'

LET'S SEE HERE:
Fascist - obviously.
Agent of a foreign state - clearly.
Fomenting dissent - absolutely.
Too bad he's probably a citizen,
I'd rather see him tossed out on his ass than hear him being apologized for.
Or to.
Anyone willing to petition in favor of declaring the ADL a terrorist organization?
I understand there is an opening where the KLA used to be.
To be perfectly clear - I support Israel and the nature of our relationship.
I do not believe the ADL or any pro-Israeli (or Zionist, whatever) organization has a say in our foreign policy,
I do believe that Israel has allowed the 'settlers' to place them at terrible risk,
I also believe that the great hunt for nonagenarian nazis should have come to a halt ten to twenty years ago.
I damn sure believe that we don't need this guy adding fuel to any tensions between us and anyone in the middle east!

He is the whore who took money from Mark Rich to write a letter of support for a pardon. He has spent most of his time going after the honorable decent people in America who disagree with his commie/lib politics. One of his targets was Bob Grant. The ADL has long since become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the DNC.

One could probably argue that he actively aided and abetted a fugitive of American justice, a fugitive who profiteered nicely doing some of his business with terrorist sponsoring states.
I'm surprised he was never deposed on this matter with an eye towards Federal prosecution.

Mr. Foxman used to hurl magnificent thunderbolts with his many charges of anti-Semitism...now unfortunately, having soiled himself so badly in the Marc Rich 'pardon scandal' he brings discredit and shame to Israel, the Holocaust and all things Jewish.
He should resign.

I am sort of surprised that Los Angeles Cardinal Mahony has not been investigated for helping Carlos Vignali, a drug kingpin, get a pardon from Clinton.

He didn't say this war on terrorism is bad lets kiss the arses of the Islamicists. He said why restrain Israel. He also criticized Israel for having an ambivalent policy concerning Arafat and having ministers speaking all over the map.

...last time I checked Irish folks who disagree with Bush are not charged with 'dual loyalty.' Not correct. Kennedy was accused of serving the Pope, Teddy was accused (rightly) of selling out our country for Gerry Adams when he sponsored legislation allowing known terrorists into the US. There are also numerous Irish groups (who in fact do support Mr. Adams) who have stood accused of dual loyalties.
Mexicans are routinely accused of extranational loyalty as were Japanese and Germans during WWII.
Get your facts straight before you fling them. The charge is legitimate if it is supportable by data regardless of the nation under contention. Your eagerness to put the charge of anti-semitism is otherwise regarded as an aggressive act designed to allow specific coercive latitude in the interest of Israel and thus weakens your case.

Well, f--- Israeli-Arab war finally knocked on my door. Here's comrade mailman and he just came from the post office that received all of its mail from the U.S. Postal Service Brentwood mail location. A U.S. State Department mailroom employee has been just diagnosed with anthrax and she just happens to work in our post office.
Time to shoot a mailman? Dig a grave? Kill couple of MFs who got us in this war?
Well, what a tragic picture. The free men, a good nation. It took them only 225 years of not paying attention and screw up big time.
Pox on the houses of all MFs who are working hard to destroy this country.
And God bless all the good folks of America.

Not correct. Kennedy was accused of serving the Pope...Indeed he was, by the same type of idiot yahoos who accuse Jews now.
And he replied - I paraphrase:: "Nobody questioned my loyalty when I stood on the deck of a PT boat during WWII" etc.
And of course he served his country and died in service of his country.
