Last night (Thursday) I attended a dinner for about 18 of the GOP Governors and President Bush at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., which dinner was to originally feature President George W. Bush, with Vice President Cheney serving as a last-day stand-in, announced only 24 hours or so before the long-scheduled event, for those of us who were also to be in attendance.

I was privileged to see VP Cheney last night in Washington at the National Building Museum, who spoke eloquently & straightforwardly about terrorism to about 18 of the Nation's Governors and a group of Republican supporters.

Among other things the VP said it was possible that this would be the first American War in which more of our citizens would probably be killed than our soldiers.

(Note: I think he meant, in part, that we had a running start with 5,000 civilian casualites at the WTC and the civilians killed at the Pentagon and on the four airplanes, already.)

I was able to shake his hand and say:

"God Bless you, Mr. Vice President."

During his talk he also made a little joke:

"It is just so good to see.......people. ....They don't let many people into the.......cave."

We roared at VP Cheney's somewhat self-effacing wit.

More substantively, Cheney said we must absolutely ELIMINATE all these terrorists from the face of the earth, (and that we must have vigilance ane patience in doing so). (Or words precisely to that effect.)
