My guess would be an old Mauser variant. Weatherby and Remington makes a 7mm too, but I doubt they would have either one of those. He could also be rounding off the caliber of a French MAS, which is 7.5, but those weren't a particularly popular rifle with the armies of the world. I would bet it's a Mauser.

If it is the 7.62, maybe its the "Right Arm of Freedom", the FN FAL.

It could very well be a FN 49 the predecessor of the FN FAL or the LAR(L1A1). They have a fixed 10 round mag and pretty accurate. Mine is in 8mm Mauser, but they were also made in 7mm Mauser and in 30-06 as well.

Considered how knowledgable the pressholes are (after all, they can't tell which side is the muzzle end), 7MM semi-auto is probably the venerable Kalashnikov or SKS variant...that's readily available in that part of the world.
