I welcome feedback, even when a reader isn't enamored with me. So I wasn't put off by a missive I received a few years back from a fellow insisting that I had produced the most irresponsible article ever written. Tough to do better than that.

Sadly any mention of Macintosh invokes scorn from those who have no knowledge of them. I have 5 Macs and can attest to their superior OS and industrial design. It is simply the best computer around ...

I'm not ducking--I have always used only Mac products. This guy is just figuring out what I have known for a long time. The OS 10.1 just adds a bit more dazzle.

I use both platforms, for 9 years now. PC at home, Mac desktop and laptop at work. Macs network pathetically. They have no floppy drives. Their files corrupt frequently. They freeze up whenever they feel like it, which is several times a week. They are WAY over-priced. I wouldn't have a Mac unless it was given to me (which is what they did at work).

So, to summarize; the guy likes the Mac because it looks pretty and sounds good?!? Gee. Me, I like women to look pretty; I like my A/V system to sound good. I use my computers to do WORK. Something Corporations have been waiting for decades for Apple to focus on. What a stupid review. Um, maybe you missed this:
The thing just worked, without any heart-wrenching crises and mysterious error codes.

Im on OS9 myself it's fine. I don't think I can load OSX on my 233mhz Imac. So I have to wait for those Flat Panel Imacs!!!!!!!!!

"The 45-minute installation was a piece of cake, certainly compared with my Windows upgrade odysseys. The thing just worked, without any heart-wrenching crises and mysterious error codes. Granted, moving from OS X to 10.1 on a lightly loaded iBook is less of a challenge than migrating from Windows 98 to Me to XP on a Pentium packed with programs. But I was impressed just the same."
Apple has it easy. When one company controls the hardware AND the operating system, it is duck soup to keep things "tightly functional". Microsoft, OTOH, has to contend with "voluntary" adherence to software and hardware standards--a far more difficult thing to accomplish. Moi, I'll stick to Windows.

I'm sure it's a find machine to telnet from.

One of these days I'm gonna get OS X. Do you think it's ready for prime time?
I created a Mac bump list a while back. I hope I remembered the name correctly in this reply.

I have 5 Macs and can attest to their superior OS and industrial design. It is simply the best computer around ...Yep; I have 4. Three iMacs and one iBook. All on my household wireless network with DSL. I can take my iBook to any room in the house and work.

I use both platforms, for 9 years now. PC at home, Mac desktop and laptop at work. Well how new is your Mac? I am cross platform as well for about the last 6 or 7 years. My Windows PC's are upgraded constantly as well as my Macs at home. The Windows platform is pathetic and I wouldn't have one at home if you paid me. So there.
To: BunnySlippers
I have one MAC (at work) OS8 and cannot stand it.
