Who says the big-time TV news anchormen are worried about seeming objective while on the air?
Certainly not ABC's "World News Tonight" anchor Peter Jennings, who ended his broadcast Tuesday night applauding the prospect that President Bush might get booed at the World Series game he was scheduled to attend an hour later.
"Just one last thing. We are always looking for signs that the country is behaving like its old self again," Jennings began.
"Tonight at the World Series, if the Yankee fans boo the president, it won't mean necessarily that they're unhappy with his leadership, but he did say that he would cheer for anyone but the Yankees in the series. So if New York fans give him the business, it just means they're acting like they're old selves, and that's probably a good sign."
Instead of boos, Bush was met with rousing cheers and chants of "USA! USA!" - especially after he managed a perfect strike from the pitcher's mound to open the game.
No word yet on whether Jennings thinks it was "a good sign" that New York Senator Hillary Clinton was booed off the stage a week ago Saturday at Paul McCartney's Twin Towers relief concert.

In fairness, that sounds like a pre-emptive strike on Jenning's part in defense of Bush. He saw what happened to Hillary and wanted to make sure Bush wasn't embarrassed if the same thing happened to him. Actually, I think that was pretty classy of him. (Apparently, he didn't realize that the respective reactions to Hillary and GW were genuine.)

what a pitch! Does Jennings think Klinton could throw a strike?

Hillary Clinton was booed off the stage at Madison Square Garden by the "heroes" of 9/11, her own constituents. President Bush was greeted by deafening cheers at Yankee Stadium and chants of "USA, USA."
This has to burn up Clinton butt-kissers like Tom Brokaw.

We need to cut Jennings a little slack- after all, he is a high school drop-out and is not very bright.

In fairness, that sounds like a pre-emptive strike on Jenning's part in defense of Bush. Hard to believe, but I would have to reluctantly agree. Seems these "news" anchors don't know which end's up these days. They gotta be stressing.

Re-read what you wrote and tell me if it's not a fair question?
Or are just living up to your name?

I'm sorry to see that it took the destruction of such a major land mark to wake these liberals up. Now maybe they know the differance between a good president and a filthy criminal sexual preditor...

Peter Jennings
television news anchor
Born: 7/29/38
Birthplace: Toronto, Canada
National news anchor of ABC's World News Tonight. By the age of nine Jennings had his own radio show, and though he dropped out of high school he went on to become America's youngest national network anchor (1964) ever. When lousy ratings got him demoted to correspondent, he covered stories around the globe until he was reinstated as anchor in 1983.

It was such a gutsy thing for President Bush to do that I'd love someone to interview Peter and ask him if he still thinks Bush was running scared on 9/11 when he didn't return immediately to the White House.

There can be little doubt, listening to the rhetoric of 'THESE' people; Peter et al. . .that, we have many, many enemies. . .
Peter is particularly interesting; inasmuch as he is really just a short ride from 'home'.
. . .and yet. . .Canada, being so much more socialist; still does not lure Peter back. . .
He talks like he knows what he is missing. . .and yet; he remains here.
