GOOD! So many high schools have opted to get rid of the ROTC. Hopefully, they will get the ROTC started again.

Very Good! And there is a very interesting by-product here. Nearly all of the JROTC/HSROTC programs here in Arizona also sponsor
Rifle Teams!!!
Most of them use Daisy pellet rifles, and the competitions use NRA rules for 25 yd. air rifle.

That's good. Hubby and I just cringe everytime we'd hear another ROTC was being cancelled.

So where will 'Jessica' be when her 'battalion' goes into combat?

To bad she didn't go to a University were the "civilian" students are the ones who feel inferior.

Thank you Teacup. I hate to hear when ROTC's are cancelled.
Thanks for the ping and the thread.

When I went to High School (70-74) we always had a good size group join ROTC.
It may have been the fact that it was Marine ROTC, which I understand is rather rare for a High School

Too bad she didn't go to a school where there weren't any civilian students... VMI, Citadel, New Mexico MI....

AZ also has active Naval Sea Cadet Corp and Junior Marine units, for those who don't go to a school with ROTC.
Sea Cadets drill with the reserves and do 2 week deployments during the summer. It's a great program.

She still wants a LIFE!

What is this obsession with "cool", anyway? Just because ROTC wasn't "cool", it was still a good idea, which met the objectives, and provided substantial benefits to the individual and the country.
I'm sick and tired of "cool" - it basically ends up meaning "non-confrontational" or "drug-induced" or "unproductive"

Those Marine JROTC/ROTC kids better not be allowed to wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on their uniforms.
I'll be torqued if I find out that's true.

ROTC mom bump, even if I had to read it in (gag) Newsweek.
