Here's something on the lighter side all you lovers can relate to.

The Lover Consults His Thesaurus
____________________________________________________________
OH, LADY, woman, female, filly,
Dame, maiden, flapper, Jane,
You've made me nutty, crazy, silly,
Unbalanced, mad, insane.
I worship, adulate and love you,
Admire, adore, acclaim,
I swear by heaven up above you
For you I glow, burn, flame,
Flare, fulminate, consume and smolder,
Seethe, broil and incandesce;
For, to the eye of this beholder,
Your style, charm, loveliness,
Bloom, beauty, pulchritude and fairness
Unmatched, unrivaled are,
And of such pricelessness and rareness
That never comet, star,
Sun, satellite, orb, world or planet
Holds comparable grace
To yours; and every time I scan it
I know that all through space
You are unique, lone, solitary,
Supreme, without a peer.
I say this in a fashion very
Frank, honest, true, sincere.
And should you pick some other fellow,
Guy, gink, gazabo, bird,
I'd turn blue, green and sickly yellow,
I would, upon my word.
I'd loathe, abhor, abominate him,
Disrelish and detest,
Envenom, execrate and hate him
With vigor, vim and zest.
My love will not change, shift or falter,
But stay, remain, abide.
Come, let us march up to the altar
Be wed, spliced, married, tied!

A friend of mine acquired a Chinese girlfriend. He wanted to write her a love powm in Chinese, but he didn't know any chinese, so he got an English-to-Chinese dictionary.
One of the emotions he wished to express was, "My heart is open."
What he said was, "The bleeding organs within my chest cavity are open for business."
So romantic.
Yeah, he got the girl.

P.S. I thought this so amusing I sent it to Readers' Digest...but they never printed it.

As I get older, I learn more and more to appreciate such sentiment. Although not quite as emphatic, I think there was a number in the score of South Pacific (1949, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein) that was eloquent in its own way. It went something like this: There is nothing you can name...that is anything like a dame.

(wouldn't you know my thesaurus crashed yesterday?)

I got this from "Tongue Tied", on the FoxNews site:
'Monica L. in Peoria writes to report that:
I recently was using the MS Word thesaurus (97) and needed to look up the word "conservative." Here were my options: unprogressive, inflexible, obstinate and right-wing.
So, as an experiment, I looked up "liberal." These were my choices: tolerant, broad-minded, generous, unprejudiced, advanced and honorable.
Too bad Microsoft can't be more BROADMINDED and more UNPREJUDICED.'

I changed it up just a bit [which I highlighted]! ;)
