[history]
Doesn't anyone in the media remember what the ultra-left is all about? In recent weeks, leaders of the Workers World Party and the National Lawyers Guild have been on television pretending to be "peace advocates" and "civil libertarians." They are neither. Workers World, which led the demonstration in Washington a few weeks ago, is a small Marxist-Leninist sect that supports the communist governments of Cuba and North Korea and violence prone anti-American movements in other countries. This group has been operating under the name International Action Center for a number of years, and, more recently, under the name Act Now to Stop War & End Racism. Their propaganda organ is called "Worker's World."

Oh, leave Bob Barr alone! This hysterical article coming from the Washington Times is really a joke: how about the WT's links to the Unification Church? If we apply the same standard to the writer of this editorial, then HE is a front for the "Reverend" Sun Myung Moon and his "Moonie" cult.

"In recent weeks, leaders of the Workers World Party and the National Lawyers Guild have been on television pretending to be "peace advocates" and "civil libertarians.""Hey, they forgot to mention Antiwar.com and LewRockwell.com. The four of these scurrilous seditionist groups should be lumped together like the traitors they are.
To: Justin Raimondo
So what. We weren't attacked by Moonies on 9/11.
To: Justin Raimondo
What part of the article is wrong?
To: Justin Raimondo

I fail to see the hysteria here. The first paragraph, especially, is a good reminder that many of these "peace" activists" and "civil libertarians" are anti-American leftists with a Communist Party pedigree.

This article would have some merit if even one member of the Congress made this argument when they were "debating" the bill.

The part where the author sneaks in the American Civil Liberties Union, and the implication by "aculeus" that Barr is part of a left-wing conspiracy against America. Plenty of conservatives are against the totalitarian mindset and legislation endorsed by Congress in passing such crap as the "Patriot Act." Is Phyllis Schlafly a commie? How about the folks at the Cato Institute? So we have to sit here and listen to "ex"-commies and "ex"-Trotskyists at the Weakly Standard lecture the nation on "un-American" activities? Who cares about the Workers World Party -- they have less than 1,000 members!
To: hellinahandcart
Nor were we attacked by commies. Indeed, we allied with the fanatically ANTI-communist Osama bin Laden AGAINST the commies in Afghanistan. Go figure....

Why stop there? Why not just lump anyone who questions the Amen Corner and opposes all the "patriotic" totalitarian laws that are repealing the Constitution -- and then ship them all to concentration camps? Then America will finally become the neocons' dream -- a much larger version of Israel.
To: Justin Raimondo
Yes, Justin, we can knee jerk with the best of them. What do you say to the allegations presented within this article (as you can read at the bottom, the author isn't employed _by_ TWT, so their supposed "bias" shouldn't affect the data he presents), such as the fact that the Russian Soviets were financing the American "peace" movement from the 40's to the 60's? If this _is_ true, quite a few people have been duped into thinking they're protesting American "imperialism" (hah!), when in fact they are protesting against our republican form of government.
(on american "imperialism" - This is a phrase which I laugh at openly, every time I hear it. Compare our "imperialistic" intent with that of the Soviets, for a good time...)

I want to expand upon this.
There is a guy by the name of Bill White, who runs a website called Overthrow.com. This site is used to promote extremism of all varieties; the goal is given away by the domain name.
Bill White is also a writer for Pravda, which makes him a paid employee of the Soviet Communist party. He used to tout his connection with them on the Overthrow site, but he recently stopped doing so.
As well as promoting groups such as the IAC, Overthrow is happy to promote groups and writers that it thinks do a good job at helping move things towards the overthrow of our government. The columnists which it features includes names which will be familiar to many on Free Republic. Guys like Justin Raimondo. Joseph Sobran. Michael Peirce. Fred Reed. Tom Chittum. And Jude Wanninski.
If these people are useful idiots for the global communist movement, or if they are doing it with full intention is up to everyone else to decide. To me, it matters little what their intention is.
To: BlueLancer
See #16, please. It might explain part of this to you.
To: wimpycat; dighton
Please refer to #16, and you may understand part of the hysteria.
To: Hugh Akston
Thanks for the bump. This is a good article.

I agree. Of course, if they do it with full intention, they are useful idiots.
