Bases in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are all to be considered.
November 7— Turkey has been asked by the US to determine what airbases in nearby countries would be suitable for use in support of land operations against Afghanistan, it has been reported.
According to officials, Turkey has been delegated the task of assessing what facilities in countries such as Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan could be used during such an operation.
A Turkish military delegation is to visit each of these countries to conduct a study of airbases for possible use when land operations commence in Afghanistan. The delegation, made up of personnel from the Turkish Air Force, would determine which bases in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan could be used and what further would be required to facilitate operations, such as technical support.
According to sources, a meeting was held in Ankara between officers from the Georgian, Azeri, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan air forces and Turkish officials and that a Turkish delegation has already departed to visit these countries. The first stop of the delegation, which is also to include American officers, is Georgia, to be followed by Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Got this from a Turkish branch of MSNBC (where the pride is so thick, you could cut it with a knife).
I'd assume the title should have read: Turkish Armed Forces to Present Recommendation on Airbases to be Used in Land Operations.

There is no way the US can ever forget the way Turkey hung in there with us during the cold war.

As far as I'm concerned, the title should read however the Turks want it to read.

You got to love the turks. Tough fighters they are. Although the country is muslim, they aren't crazy radicals. Plus they are a true friend of Israel, and unconditionally too. I'd fight side by side with the turks any day!

Very interesting. Note that Azerbaijan and Georgia are in with us. Tadjikistan too. Turkey, of course, is well suited to handle these nations. Sounds like the pipelines are on the way. Maybe I should learn Turkish or Uzbeki!

In words this map says “Scr*w you Saudi Arabia”

Turkish and Uzbek are one in the same language, with differences in dialect and some vocabulary. Once you know one, the other's no problem.
The Republic of Turkey had flipped the bill for it's reconditioning of Georgian airfields, and therefore has rights for unlimited use of these.
The Azeris are also Turkic, as are the Uzbek, and speak the same language (albeit a different dialect).
