I was just curious if there's any FReeper musicians here that have MIDI software and like to compose songs. I was wondering because I've been using Voyetra Digital Orchestrator for a few years now and have made quite a few songs with it. I lean to the classical (Beethoven, Bach), to the metal (Metallica, Megadeth), and do some scores (Vangelis, John Williams). Perhaps we could share some. Everything I compose can be used by anyone for their websites, just please mention me if you do..

I've been known to diddle a little something on my good old guitar.

BTW, you might want to take some more "masculine" photos of your son. Bubbles on the head don't do boys much justice. I think I made that mistake with my boy Bobby. Somethin just ain't right about that boy.

Pretty cool. I myself have only dabbled in Fruity Loops pro. I'm nothing close to a musician, but I like to pretend.

Puh-lease---I've got four boys, and many pictues just as cute as this one, and they all turned out just fine. This is a baby you're talking about. And he looks like all boy to me.

Heh! My Son stands on his feet whenever the President is on the tube. I'm not kidding! His first birthday is in 8 days and he STILL has more class than Hitlery!
He did it tonight, too!!

Hey no flames here, trying to conserve butane you know. :)
I play bass and have played local band scenes but I don't really do any MIDI stuff because based on my limited experience it sounds too 'computer generated'.
Do you know any good freeware that I can play with that may be better?
You may have to flame me for my ignorance, I lost interest in playing with MIDI back in 95 or so (I don't play keyboards, etc so I really had no use for it as far as I know.)
I guess what I'm asking is has MIDI advanced any in the last 6 years so that it doesn't sound like some cheap movie sound effect?

RE: My last post.
I may just have cheap-*ss hardware!
Like I said I play out some and I have never really 'generated' anything on the computer.
Educate me if I need it. (Freepmail will work so you don't clog the thread.)
(Smiling) I've got 2 auditions this weekend so hopefully I can start gigging regular again. Been kinda' slack, boss.

I don't know. Actually, a few songs sound quite good in MIDI. Usually they consist of mostly piano sound. I get around MIDI with flash, you can put full MP3's in it.
To: Looking4Truth
I couldn't tell ya. Click on the link on my first post and tell me what you think. It's a Megadeth song.
I'm hoping that there's a MIDI editing program that lets you make your own sounds out of the tracks that are in the sound card. Because, as you well know, the "Overdriven Guitar" track sounds more like a Hyundai stuck in the snow!
The closest I've been able to do it is by combining a LOT of different tracks (Slap Bass, harmonica, etc.) to do the same notes.

WHOOPS! I meant my FOURTH post! Sorry!

I used to play the trumpet, until I got these damned magnets (read: braces, but they feel like magnets when I put my headphones on) cemented to my teeth.
To: RandallFlagg
I'm listening to it now.
At first it wouldn't open because genius here had his firewall locked down.
Sorry to say it still has that electronically generated sound, but I love the music.
And believe me, I'm no purist like the guys(and gals) who actually understand the difference between throwing vinyl on the turntable and listening to it in analog vs. listening to digital at 44.1MHZ (time slices).
But.....
Ya' just can't beat that sound of a Tobias 5-string (mine, yep I'm bragging on the instrument, not me) blasting out of a stack live.
But it's all in fun anyway!
So how does an MP3 sound when played thru the software you mentioned?
To: Texaggie79
I'm losing it. I posed a question to RandallFlag that was meant for you regarding how MP3s sound in the software you are using.

Feeling a little bit insecure about your masculinity? Good grief, he's a baby! And bubbles are fun! Get out of here!
