The Salvation Army's surprise announcement that it would offer domestic-partner benefits to its homosexual employees received unhappy reaction from some Christians this week.
On Wednesday, radio broadcaster James Dobson's radio broadcast criticizing the Salvation Army's policy change spurred angry phone calls to the Army's national headquarters in Alexandria and its western division headquarters in Long Beach, Calif.

A lesson to be learned. Homosexuals are a small part of the population, but because they are organized and active, they are getting results.
I hear from people all the time how it doesn't do any good to vote, protest, write a senator but the gay population is showing us that you can get what you want.
We need to get people off the couch and shut off the TV and become activists!

I had placed faith, trust and confidence in the Salvation Army over other charities, but perhaps that trust is also misplaced.
This year, guilt or no guilt, I'm not giving them my money. In fact, I'm going to write them a letter telling them that.
They probably got a big donation from the gay lobby in return for this "decision", IMHO.
A fair legal distinction but most religious people will find this an untenable position for the Salvation Army.
It's really unfortunate that they feel this move is necessary and that the organization cannot see the conflict others will see with the Christian principles it was founded on. The Salvation Army seems to care more about increasing income than holding to religious principle. Another indication (if more were needed) of the strength of the homosexual movement in America. A perverted 2% of the population with this kind of power to influence even established Christian organizatons to accomodate them says much about were we are as a nation.
The liberals will love this and Christians will be badly disappointed but I'll bet donations hardly drop a bit, and that will validate this decision for the SA, and this kind of 'accomodation' will continue inside 'religious' organizations. They get to have their cake and eat it too; secular people and liberals praise them (and contribute) while the religious grumble and after a year or so of not giving, forget and contribute again. Win-Win for the SA or any organization that plays this game.
