PARK CITY, Utah - Polygamy Porter tastes good. The question in this Mormon-dominated state is whether the billboard advertising for the beer is in good taste.
Greg Schirf, the brewmaster and owner of Wasatch Beer, insists the slogans, "Why have just one?" and "Take some home for the wives," are in good fun.
But the Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission and two local billboard companies disagree.
The state agency has toyed with the idea of banning advertising that pokes fun at religion while the billboard companies have refused to rent Schirf space on their signs.

LMAO
I'd buy some just for the appreciation of their humor.
I've looked into starting up a brewery, and I am really surprised batf let them get away with those labels...
That should probably read, "Government at all levels, especially the liquor board, is dominated by church members."
Oh, I think it would be a good thing for some of these church members to go back and read some of Brother Brigham's words regarding tolerance of others' beliefs (or lack thereof). And a class on first amendment principles, like, oh, say, freedom of speech, might not hurt either.
You'll find the originals for Polygamy Porter here.
And that's the crux of the matter: Utah LDS residents truly are embarrassed by their history. They're going to have to learn to be able to distinguish between the practices of their polygamist ancestors and the goofballs who are out there giving polygamy a bad name today.
If anyone should be upset, it's the polygamists who are apparently the target market for this guys suds. But it would seem that they've got better senses of humor than the mainline LDS Church members.
I would imagine that given Utah's restrictive alcohol content laws, the rest of the world would probably laugh at the idea of referring to these beverages as beer, anyways.
That'll kill a guy FAST.
Reagan Outdoor Advertising decided to go moralistic in Utah. Meanwhile in Nevada, they are still posting billboards that advertise titty bars and brothels.
Must........ resist....... impulse...........
What?
